Eleanor Roosevelt High School Boosters and Eastvale Events present Eastvale's Annual "Holiday Showcase" is Saturday, December 8th from 9 AM - 4 PM at Eleanor Roosevelt High School!
Pancake Breakfast from 9AM - 11AM for $5 per person, under 5 for FREE.  Prior signup is appreciated by contacting the Boosters.
There will be over 30 TONS of SNOW, more than triple last years, including a sled run!  Snow play areas will be located at the high school with areas for the smaller kids and for the larger kids.

Spark of Love Toy Drive & Holiday Toy Express - Inland Empire - 11/24/07 06:05 PM
The 15th Annual Spark of Love Toy Drive, in coordination with ABC-7 and Metrolink, is rolling into more Inland Empire stations this weekend!  The Spark of Love campaign collects new, unwrapped toys and sporting equipment to distribute to underserved children in the community and surrounding areas.
The Holiday Toy ExpressTM 2007 is a Metrolink commuter train decorated with over 50,000 lights and oversized garland and arrives at a station with a musical show and sing-along led by Santa, Mrs. Claus and other holiday characters. 
 
The Holiday Toy Express will be arriving at the following Inland Empire train stations:

Benedict Castle - Riverside - Christmas Holiday of Light - 11/24/07 02:29 PM
The Benedict Castle in Riverside is about to hold its 13th annual Christmas Holiday of Light!  The castle is owned by Teen Challenge of Southern California which is part of an international faith-based program for helping yound people dealing with substance abuse or other problems. 
The event, open-to-the-public, is FREE and will be held on Sunday, November 25th from 5 to 9 PM.  There will be lights, trees, garlands, a nativity, carolers, a choir and more.  They will also be hosting tours of the building every 20 minutes.

Property Tax Reassessments - San Bernardino County - 11/15/07 08:17 PM
Prop 8 allows for a "Decline-in-Value Reassessment" which needs to be supported by comparable property sales. The Assessor's Office is proactively revaluing properties downward (and many San Bernardino County residences were revalued) but individual homeowners are permitted to submit their own request for reassessment. The form can be found at their website at:http://www.sbcounty.gov/assessmentappeals/
An appraisal by the homeowner is NOT required.  You are permitted to justify your reason for requesting the lowered assessment by marking both boxes A. and I. in section 6 of the application for changed assessment.   Box I indicates that you will be including an attached explanation which should be … (2 comments)

I had the pleasure of visiting Rancho de Philo winery this weekend for the first time and I'm very pleased with what I found!  Rancho de Philo Winery is located in the foothills of the Cucamonga Valley, 45 miles east of Los Angeles.  It was founded in 1975 by Philo Biane after he retired as President/CEO of Brookside Vineyard Co., then one of California's oldest wineries.  Brookside was noted for its excellent table and dessert wines which were developed by Mr. Biane.  When he retired and established Rancho de Philo, he brought in his daughter, Janine Biane Tibbetts, to assist him … (14 comments)

It was 30 years ago today (on November 10, 1977) that the city of Rancho Cucamonga was incorporated. 
The city, formed by the mergers of the towns of Alta Loma, Cucamonga and Etiwanda, has always been acknowledged as a funny sounding name.  The Jack Benny Show gave the area some early publicity when Mel Blanc as a train announcer would say over the loud speaker:  "Train now leaving on track five for Anaheim, Azusa, and Cuc... amonga," with progressively longer pauses in the middle of Cucamonga.  The inside joke for LA viewers is that no such train route exists.

The Assessor's Office proactively revalues properties downward (and many Riverside County residences are revalued) but individual homeowners are permitted to submit their own request for reassessment if they don't agree with the Assessor's estimate.  The Assessor will be issuing their revaluation notices in July 2010 and homeowners can file their appeal between July 2, 2010 and November 30, 2010.  The State Board of Equalization has issued a very handy guide called Residential Property Assessment Appeals which has some additional … (9 comments)
