real estate: Mortgage Lending Standards Still Tight And Housing Remains Weak, Says Fed Report - 03/03/11 03:22 PM
While hints of inflation are emerging and the job market improved in January and February, mortgage lending standards remain tight and the housing industry is still anemic, according to the Federal Reserve Beige Book report released yesterday. “Recent activity in residential real estate varied, but overall sales and construction remained at low levels across all districts,” the survey stated. Lending requirements remained tight in all districts. Atlanta actually reported tighter home loan standards. Although an improving job market is definitely good for the economy, stringent mortgage lending requirements are not good news for homeowners or home buyers hoping to take advantage (0 comments)
real estate: Housing Crisis Increases Importance Of Location - 01/10/11 09:41 AM
Location is even more important for people who wish to purchase homes after the recession we just experienced. The old proverb is more valid than ever before. The 3 most important factors for judging property are location... location... and... location. That is the conclusion drawn by the a study endorsed by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). While many housing markets could see increases in home values and will recover fully, others have reached a tipping point and will suffer drawn-out or possibly even permanent impacts, as reported by the "Study of Real Estate Markets in Declining Cities." real estate: First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit Closing Extension Appears Likely to Pass Senate - 06/15/10 04:35 PM
There was a tremendous response to a blog that I posted last week regarding the possible extension of the first time home buyer tax credit. We received over 50 comments, most of them from potential home buyers who have a deal in place but are having difficulty closing on their home prior to June 30th. Almost without exception, these commenters are dealing with servicers, underwriters, processors, and lenders who are severely backlogged because of the huge spike in mortgage volume that occurred prior to the April 30th expiration of the tax credit. According to a video on MSNBC today, as many (4 comments)

Learn When To Buy and Sell Your Home Buying a home is a just as much an investment as it is a lifestyle choice to own rather than rent. While we all want to buy low and sell high, personal factors may outweigh investment factors when buying and selling your primary residence. But if you have some flexibility - and perhaps you are also looking at a second home or investment property - you should take the factors below into account when planning your long term purchase and sale plans. Find Out What Can & Cannot Be Done To Purchase A Home Online Today Home buyers of today can use the Internet in several ways to get the best home at the best deal possible. Not only are current listings of homes for sale available for viewing, but several web sites offer historical prices of the property you are buying along with the sales prices of neighboring homes. Save time searching for homes In the past, Realtors controlled all home listing data so home buyers could only access that data through their Realtor. This created two problems. First, home buyers were (0 comments)
