Do Your Know Where You Stand with Your Realtor? - 11/26/10 12:26 PM
Every industry has its share of insider knowledge, quirks and idiosyncrasies. Louisville real estate is no different. As society grows ever more complex, expertise becomes more and more valuable. For people selling their home, there are times when selling without a Realtor® may make sense. The seller pays both sides of the commission and that's no small amount of money. So, a solid argument may be made for a homeowner selling their property without an agent. (Please note, offering a cooperating commission, one side, is almost always a smart choice. Offering no commission to a buyer's agent is a recipe for … (1 comments)

New Tech Opens Homeowners to Theft - 11/23/10 11:49 AM
Isn't all of our new technology fun? Honestly, raise your hand if you thought a few years ago that for the price of a few hundred dollars a person could let his smart phone "listen" to the music on the car stereo and tell him what song it is, who it's by and even purchase and download the song immediately? Amazing! That application is called Shazam and it's free! Wow. What we need to remember is that new tech also comes with danger.
Foursquare might be fun but there's a danger as well. Louisville Home Owners Beware For years, my wife … (2 comments)

Louisville KY Housing Market Report - October 2010 - 11/03/10 11:48 AM

The median home price for Jefferson County, Louisville KY dropped to $131,500 in October. That's down significantly from $137,650 the previous month. This is due to the increase in foreclosures, which drag down averages, as well as, the smaller number of transactions and the seasonal effect.
Speaking of transactions, sold properties are down for the second straight month. What is more troubling is that October 2010 has only 61.7% of October 2009 activity as you can see in the chart above.
It appears that real estate in Louisville will continue to be quite sluggish heading into the new year.
