A few weeks ago, I visited Ricketts Glen State Park, located west of Wilkes Barre, PA to hike the Falls Trail.  The Falls Trail is located within the Glens Natural Area, which is a National Natural Landmark. The Falls Trail is named for twenty-one waterfalls that cascade through the Glens Natural Area. Although all the waterfalls provide amazing views, the most impressive waterfall along the trail is the Ganoga Waterfall, at 94 feet. The Falls Trail includes many stone steps adjacent to the waterfalls that traverse the rugged terrain. Although I saw several people wearing flip-flops, the stone steps are wet from the waterfall spray and I recommend sneakers or hiking boots with a non-slip tread.  The Falls Trail is challenging, so make sure you're in decent shape before you attempt it.

Ricketts Glen State Park also offers a beach, boating, camping, and picnic areas.  If you like to hike and appreciate beautiful views, I highly recommend taking a day trip to Ricketts Glen State Park. Visit DCNR's website for info. www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateParks/parks/rickettsglen.aspx
