I love to find helpful tips for sellers and buyers.  Today as I was catching up on my reading, I found an article from the National Association of Realtors:  5 Essential Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Contractor.
The story outlined good points to consider when hiring a contractor to save you time and money.  Lets review:
1. Asking the contractor to itemize your bill will help you compare prices of different contractors, and save you money.
