Buy Distressed Property for Cheap with West Metro Realtor Travis Senenfelder - 08/25/10 11:57 AM
<!--StartFragment--> The idea of purchasing a home for substantially less than anticipated is something we can all agree upon.  As the economy stagnates into a state of disrepair, we are all wondering when that much-needed break will come.  Well, while some of us will have to wait until the recession’s suffocating grasp eases up, others can wine and dine Lady Luck today.
This past July marked the 17th consecutive month where foreclosures have exceeded 300,000 nationally.  Never before have we seen such a network of real estate property available for not only significantly cheaper but accompanied by the lowest interest rates … (0 comments)

Let Lake Minnetonka Realtor Travis Senenfelder Find You the Perfect Home for Cheap - 08/19/10 11:33 AM
<!--StartFragment--> A recurrent theme within my blogs, along with being a personal piece of advice, is the advantage of capitalizing on the shambles that is the current real estate market.  Out of the ashes rises low interest rates, leasing opportunities and foreclosed homes available for cheap.  While living near the lake is a viable option for an affordable Lake Minnetonka lifestyle, why not take it one step further?  As of right now, there are 75 lake homes or homes with lake access that have been foreclosed and put back on the market.  What does this mean for you?  Houses under 500K.  … (1 comments)

Travis Senenfelder Would Like to Welcome Back Mr. Brett Favre - 08/19/10 11:31 AM
<!--StartFragment--> Hate it or love it, our grizzled hero is returning to the Land of 10,000 Championship Mistakes yet again.  Donning that familiar purple number “4” jersey, I, of course, am talking about none other than Mr. Brett Favre.
No, the sky did not turn black and the moon blood red over the Midwest (namely Wisconsin).  Instead, we received a modest Favre, accompanied by three fellow teammates, who stepped off a private plane and were subsequently ushered to Vikings’ camp headquarters.  Apart from some heavily implied PR, no official word as to whether or not our senior sensation will in fact, … (1 comments)

Homebuyer No-No's - 08/10/10 11:49 AM
<!--StartFragment--> No one ever said the homebuyer process was easy.  Be that as it may, there are several valuable tips to consider before you take the big leap:

1.)   Buy within your means.  This is a big one.  Purchasing your first home can be an exhilarating experience, however, you don’t want to go overboard amidst it all.  It is important to factor in each and every monthly expense that occurs along your everyday routine.  Compile a list of expenses such as vehicle costs, credit card payments, student loans, groceries, health insurance and so on.  Add up these expenditures and … (2 comments)

Tonka Bay Marina - 08/10/10 11:46 AM
<!--StartFragment--> In reference to my article, “Stay On The Lake No Matter Your Income;” I detailed the reality of conducting a Lake Minnetonka lifestyle, without having to actually live on the lake.  In continuation with that topic, I’d like to elaborate on the possibility of purchasing a home near the lake and allowing one of Minnetonka’s many marinas to care for your boat.
When it comes to something as big as Lake Minnetonka, there will undoubtedly be a surplus of lakeside marinas ready to accommodate your every boating need.  While this may be true, I’d like to examine a marina that … (0 comments)

Antiquity Rose - 08/10/10 11:44 AM
<!--StartFragment--> How has it taken me this long to write about Antiquity Rose?  After all, it’s staring through my window -- morning, noon and night.
Since 1974, Antiquity Rose has been a trademark of historic Excelsior sentimentality.  With an essence that’s ambiance is truly unrivaled; this mom-and-pop fueled restaurant effortlessly blends kitsch and elegance all into one experience.

From the moment you walk into the quaint old house, your senses are treated to a wave of old fashioned charm. Antique furniture and trinkets abound a series of humble rooms, each one guaranteeing to catch your eye on something unique. … (0 comments)

An Update to the Landlord/Tenant Laws - 08/10/10 11:30 AM
Significant changes were made to landlord-tenant laws at the 2010 Minnesota legislative session this past May.  The topics vary from late fees, to abandoned personal property, to federal foreclosure notice conformity.   BSL Real Estate believes it’s important to have both well-informed clients and employees, and with that being said I’ve supplied a brief synopsis of some major changes.
All and all, there were eight landlord-tenant regulation topics that were subject to change during this last session and here they are (in a nutshell).
1.  Cash Receipts: Management is now required to immediately provide a written receipt for payments made in cash.

Remembering the Excelsior Amusement Park - 08/10/10 11:28 AM
It’s been over 35 years since the Excelsior Amusement Park decided to close their gates.  Most of what was the amusement park is now site to a couple of restaurants and condominiums, but what remains are the local stories and few known artifacts that make this town an important piece of Minnesota’s history.
The Excelsior Amusement Park is important because it served as the primary amusement park to the Twin Cities prior to Valley Fair.  It was a park inspired by Coney Island, and like Coney Island it too had rollercoaster that went by the name, The Cyclone.  Along with the … (0 comments)

A Tax Credit Extension for Homebuyers - 08/10/10 11:24 AM
In early July of 2010, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) applauded congress for passing a bill to extend the homebuyer tax credit deadline.  The bill, which was signed by the president on July 2nd, is designed to create a harmonious extension from its old deadline of April 30th to the new deadline on September 30, 2010.
The passage of H.R. 5623, the Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act, was originally passed in November of 2009 with the intention to simulate the U.S. housing market.  The legislation functions by extending first-time homebuyers a tax credit up to $8000 until September 30, 2010, … (2 comments)

Lake Home Tips - 08/04/10 12:25 PM
<!--StartFragment--> If “near the lake” just won’t cut it, consider these helpful tips before purchasing a lake home:
Determine an area.  To start off the buying process, your first plan of action should be determining which city you would be spending the rest of your boating days.  Try creating a list of your top potential cities, and then narrow down the search by looking at the different lakes they have to offer.  For instance, if Maple Grove seems like a right fit, would you prefer Bass Lake or Weaver Lake?  If Plymouth is where you want to start anew, are you … (0 comments)

Stay On The Lake No Matter Your Income - 08/04/10 12:23 PM
<!--StartFragment-->
<!--StartFragment-->
Boasting a massive shoreline with over 125 miles of extravagant homes and historic estates, Lake Minnetonka is one of the largest lakes in the state of Minnesota (and believe me, that’s saying something due to Minnesota having 10,000 lakes).  Minnetonka, a name given by the earliest Dakota Indian inhabitants, means “Big Waters.”  With nearly 15,000 acres of square feet featuring numerous bays and islands, I’d say the title is more than appropriate.
Located almost entirely within Hennepin County, Lake Minnetonka is a bustling medley of beautiful scenery, rich history and constant activity.  You really can’t go wrong here.  There … (0 comments)
