omaha: Omaha Plans Bike Lanes for City Streets

Omaha bike riders look to the future as the city makes plans to add 20 miles of marked lanes to city streets. This will allow residents in many areas to ride their bikes to work, the store, local shops, and more. The first commuter route in the Benson area is scheduled to be completed this summer. Other proposed bike routes are at Aksarben, Happy Hollow, Doorly, Midtown, and connections to existing bike trails.
While private donations from the Peter Kiewit Foundation and an unnamed donor are being used, some federal stimulus money will be used for some lane improvements.

The Lincoln Commission on Human Rights will present a Fair Housing Conference on April 21 and April 22. The conference will address numerous Fair Housing issues such as legal updates, diversity, disability modifications, immigration changes, foreclosures in Nebraska, and urban development and public housing.
Tuesday, April 21 is a half-day session from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00p.m. Tuesday afternoon is Real Estate Specialty and registration must be made with Liz Bruce at 402-441-3621 or lizb@lincolnrealtors.com. Wednesday, April 22, is a full day and runs from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with check-in from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
