Refinancing due to the lower interest rates is why the Albuquerque Metro area is seeing an increase in mortgage applications. With rates at around 5.25%, refinancing can make sense for homeowners who will bring their current rate down by a point or more, lower their monthly payments and plan on staying in their home for a couple of more years. Preview the link below and read the article by Richard Metcalf with the Albuquerque Journal for more details… http://www.abqjournal.com/biz/2810414biz12-28-08.htm Search for Albuquerque homes for sale at our WelcomeHomeABQ.com website

A recent story from Kiplinger.com rates Albuquerque as one of the “safe havens” for real estate in the country. Our experience is that we have seen some declines in home prices, but nothing like the sharp declines in other parts of the country. We did not have the double digit price increases in 03 and 04 like other markets, so we have not had double digit drops. We will see how this plays out but my feeling is that the sales will start to pick up and 09 will end up with home price appreciation. Safe Havens in Real Estate - Yahoo! Real Estate: "Active retirees and immigrants have also migrated to the area, ensuring a well-rounded housing market. Experts project 9% population growth between 2006 and 2011, compared to 6% nationally." Looking into water issues along with Rio Rancho’s infrastructure is also in development. This onward momentum is a benefit for the city and people of Rio Rancho. Rio Rancho City Councilors had a busy night... The Star Center in Rio Rancho will be going under contract with different management. City councilors voted to approve termination of the current management team and are ready to take a look at new proposals from other teams. Officials also approved items assisting Hewlett-Packard with their move to Rio Rancho. Plans are in the works for HP to break ground in January for its new customer support center. Also breaking ground in January, will be the UNM City Center campus which the councilors were able take a peek at during a presentation. More from the Journal...
