Albuquerque - Far Northeast Heights - 04/08/07 10:29 PM
The Far Northeast part of Albuquerque is where you'll find many of the newer neighborhoods and homes.  As the City grew from the Downtown / Old Town Albuquerque area by the Rio Grande River, the development moved toward the Real Estate north and up to the Sandia Reservation, and east to the Sandia Mountains.  Here you will find homes in traditionally developed neighborhoods, to homes on an acre or more and in many styles.  From Southwestern to Traditional to Contemporary.  Again, the Sandia Mountains are the boundary to the East and many of the homes in the "foothills" have phenomenal views of the City … (1 comments)

Albuquerque - Near Northeast Heights - 04/08/07 10:26 PM
The Real Estate in the Northeast part of Albuquerque is primarily made up of traditional suburban neighborhoods  including the Princess Jeanne neighborhood.  Homes and subdivisions in this area started being built during the Albuquerque, NM Real Estate boom of the 1950s.  In general the homes in this area are on residential size lots and are a more traditional style that you would see in other parts of the country in planned developments . Still, you will see a good amount Southwest style in the homes .  Since many of these neighborhoods are more established, you will find that the landscaping is more mature than the newer neighborhoods around … (1 comments)

The town of Bernalillo - 04/08/07 10:19 PM
The Town of Bernalillo is rich in history and character.  The first Spanish Colonial settlers arrived in the Bernalillo area in the 1600's.  The Native Pueblo people of this area have settlements that date back 1000 years.  One of these settlements can be seen at the Coronado State Monument on the west side of the river.  Bernalillo has many annual events with the highlight (in my option) being the New Mexico Wine Festival at Bernalillo.
Many of the residents of Bernalillo have deep roots and extended family here.  Situated in the Rio Grande River  Valley it is similar in feel to Albuquerque's North and … (1 comments)

Placitas - "it looks like a Georgia O,Keeffe painting" - 04/08/07 10:14 PM
I was writing a description for a home I had listed in Placitas recently and was struggling to find a way to describe the setting.  It finally came to me... it looks like a Georgia O'Keeffe painting.  Yea, I know... but it really fit.  Of course Georgia O'Keeffe painted mainly in northern New Mexico but the terrain and scenery is  very similar.   Speaking of, there are many fine artists living and working in Placitas and there are a few days each year where they open up their home studios for a  studio tour.   Quite fun!
The exit to Placitas is only about 10 minutes north of the … (1 comments)

Rio Rancho - The City of Vision - 04/08/07 10:08 PM
Considering its beginnings, Rio Rancho has come a long way is now a "City of Vision" and they are delivering on the goods.  At one time considered a land scam, Rio Rancho has really done well for itself.  Buildings in Rio Rancho are generally less than 40 years old - an anomaly in New Mexico with rich culture and a long history.
The people who live in Rio Rancho love it and in the last few years Rio Rancho, dubbed The City of Vision, has seen phenomenal growth.  Between 1961 (the year I was born) and 1977, AMREP sold more than 75,000 lots in "Rio Rancho Estates" to thousands of … (1 comments)

Tax credit for Green Building was passed in New Mexico - 04/02/07 06:30 PM
This is real exciting news for our Green Build community here in New Mexico.  The state and local politicians have been doing a lot of talking about sustainable building, but now the state has really stepped up and given some real financial motivation to build green.  Hopefully this'll get traction, but unfortunately in the past some of these rebate programs have ended up fizzling out because nobody took advantage of them.  I'm going to be doing all I can to get the word out.
Take Care, Tracy
