albuquerque nm real estate: Albuquerque North Valley Quiet Railroad Track Crossings - 11/09/07 03:10 PM
The Albuquerque's North Valley is about to get a little quieter. Construction started today on the first of 6 railroad crossings that are being converted to be "quiet crossings". The 6 crossings are between Candelaria and Osuna with the Candelaria crossing being started first. I'm hopeful that once these are constructed, money will be found to convert the rest of the North Valley crossings so the rest of the valley can benefit from the reduced train horn noise. My hats off to the residents and officials that have worked hard over the past many years to see this come to fruition! … (0 comments)

albuquerque nm real estate: Bernalillo County Property Tax Bills Hit - 11/09/07 03:07 PM
With the recent mailings of the Bernalillo County Property Tax bills, comes a wave of shocked homeowners. Homeowner property taxes are regulated by New Mexico state law so they cannot be raised more than 3% in one year - unless the house is sold. If the house is sold, the assessment can be increased based on the market value. Unfortunately for homeowners seeing large increases, the period to appeal is in the spring when the "Notice of Values" are sent out. This shows the value of the property and states it will result in a bill unless an appeal is filed … (0 comments)

albuquerque nm real estate: The Albuquerque Wine Festival is coming... - 05/12/07 03:04 PM
The Albuquerque Wine Festival will be Saturday, May 26 thru Monday, May 28, 2007 at Balloon Fiesta Park. People dont usually think of New Mexico as a great wine making area, but the history New Mexico wines goes back to the early 1600's and the time of the early spanish explorers (ok thats the extent of my NM wine history).  Anyway... these festivals are always fun.  Dont forget the desiginated driver.

albuquerque nm real estate: About Albuquerque... Downtown, Old Town, UNM - 05/12/07 02:15 PM
Old Town is the heart of Albuquerque's heritage. The first Spanish families settled near the banks of the Rio Grande in 1706.
Much of the architecture of Old Town is Pueblo-Spanish, or adobe. Adobe buildings are constructed of adobe bricks (which are mostly composed of mud and straw) that are sunbaked, mortared with mud and protected with a layer of mud or cement. They are traditionally flat roofed, with curved edges, often supported with vigas (wooden beams supporting the roof) visible in the ceiling or protruding through walls. With the arrival of the railroad in 1880, many new building components became available. … (0 comments)

albuquerque nm real estate: Albuquerque is still strong. - 05/01/07 03:45 AM
Housing Predictor has come out with their newest report today, and the Albuquerque has moved to the top of the list!  They are projecting a 9.1% appreciation for 2007.
I feel our steady and moderate (compared to other markets) growth has keep the Albuquerque Real Estate market healthy.  Off course, it's a great place to live as well... that may have something to do with it.

albuquerque nm real estate: Albuquerque - Far Northeast Heights - 04/08/07 03:29 PM
The Far Northeast part of Albuquerque is where you'll find many of the newer neighborhoods and homes.  As the City grew from the Downtown / Old Town Albuquerque area by the Rio Grande River, the development moved toward the Real Estate north and up to the Sandia Reservation, and east to the Sandia Mountains.  Here you will find homes in traditionally developed neighborhoods, to homes on an acre or more and in many styles.  From Southwestern to Traditional to Contemporary.  Again, the Sandia Mountains are the boundary to the East and many of the homes in the "foothills" have phenomenal views of the City … (0 comments)

albuquerque nm real estate: Albuquerque - Near Northeast Heights - 04/08/07 03:26 PM
The Real Estate in the Northeast part of Albuquerque is primarily made up of traditional suburban neighborhoods  including the Princess Jeanne neighborhood.  Homes and subdivisions in this area started being built during the Albuquerque, NM Real Estate boom of the 1950s.  In general the homes in this area are on residential size lots and are a more traditional style that you would see in other parts of the country in planned developments . Still, you will see a good amount Southwest style in the homes .  Since many of these neighborhoods are more established, you will find that the landscaping is more mature than the newer neighborhoods around … (0 comments)
