I'm always amazed at how different the camera's views are from mine. This lovely orchid looked just like any other orchid until I uploaded the picture and noticed the center image.What do you think? Is it a devil or angel orchid? I think it looks like a mischievous kid. These guys are blooming too but they turned out to be ordinary orchids. If you can consider any orchids ordinary.

The Chasco Boat Parade in New Port Richey which is part of the ongoing Chasco Fiesta is next Saturday April 2 starting at approximately 1pm. This year's theme is "Legends"
Last year's winner was (my) Rotary Club of Trinity. The boat parade takes place on the Pithlachascotee River in downtown New Port Richey starting at Millers Bayou and running down to Sims Park. The grand prize is $2,500 to the winner.

Sasha, our Himalayan who will be 15 in June loves her bankie and sleeps a LOT.

Shayna, who is 8 months old, also has a blanket; but it doesn’t get much use. She wouldn’t dream of missing out on ANYTHNG that is happening--life is just too exciting. Does she look sleepy to you?

Perhaps we should look at life through a kitten’s eyes; and see everything the way they do......new, challenging, exciting!

SPCA Suncoast in New Port Richey-FL saves Dogs and Cats - 03/25/11 08:35 AM
The SPCA Suncoast in New Port Richey, Florida drove up to the panhandle of Florida this week and brought back 59 animals that were scheduled for euthanasia. There were 13 kittens, 3 cats, 23 puppies and 20 adult dogs. At this time the animals are undergoing medical check-ups, being socialized in foster homes, and will be spayed/neutered prior to being put up for adoption. The SPCA Suncoast does not euthanize for space or time. SPCA Suncoast is open Wed-Sunday, noon-6 pm. 727-849-1048.

Pretty in Pink-Florida's Other Pink Bird-The Roseate Spoonbill - 03/23/11 07:55 PM
Roseate Spoonbills are not usually seen this far north in Florida so I was pleasantly surprised to step out onto my patio last night and see this guy. They are a very pretty pink and this one had the darker stripe on his wings. He must have been eating a lot of shrimp but not in my pond, I’m sure we don’t have any. Kathy Streib posted about Spoonbills in Disney World earlier today too. Spoonbills use their unique, spatulate bills to strain small food items. Reflections on a Shrinking Pond - 03/22/11 09:27 AM
Reflections on the shrinking pond in the golf community of Timber Greens in New Port Richey-FL. Everyone seemed very happy; the woodstorks and egrets -(large and small) were busy working and producing what they needed: even though the pond is low and will probably dry out until the rains start in June or July.   Maybe this is  a lesson for us too; we must work to produce even if our pond is low. And, we can be happy with our production - - we know we worked hard for it.

Lokey Subaru in Port Richey, Florida hosted an event to benefit the local animal rescue groups.There were a lot of groups there and we had great danes, labradors, goldies, pitbull mixes, and kitties of all kinds. Craig and I were there with the SPCA Suncoast (of course);we had 5 mixed-breed puppies with us and 3 puppies were adopted. There was a petting zoo and horse back rides, face painting,  a town jail, and a clown. Lots of kids’ activities, and a lot of people came through. I’m so excited, I have been nominated for Queen Chasco. Every year, Chasco Fiesta is held in New Port Richey, Florida. A King Pithla and Queen Chasco (the names come from the Pithlachascotee River that runs right through the city) are chosen at the Coronation Ball.  The Fiesta itself lasts for almost 2 weeks and many events take place during that time. The event was a huge success with people waiting in line to shred their old documents. First Hummingbird of 2011 Yesterday, while the rain was pouring down, our feeder was visited by our very first of 2011 hummingbird. He seemed really happy to find the feeder since all the flowers were drenched and I’m sure the nectar was washed out (it rained really hard from about 2am on).
