Being an old town, trees are a huge part of the landscape of New Port Richey, Florida. Some are old and majestic, some have been bent by the winds of time; but they are all lovely and add to the beauty of the area. Being trees, they shade us, are magnificent and give birds a place to hang out (this is important as you will see when you get to the end). Trees add character to a home and make it more attractive. Anyone who knows me knows I'm all for rescuing animals and wildlife of all kinds so I thought this was a great rescue story to share with you. Mike makes a great point: why are we not hearing from the lenders with solutions to this mess. Home prices are being undercut by short-sales and foreclosures. Short-sales are not the solution to this ever-increasing problem.

Ford of Port Richey's 2nd annual Dog and Pony Show for SPCA Suncoast- Florida - 05/29/11 08:32 PM

Ford of Port Richey held an event last Saturday to benefit the SPCA Suncoast. The car show and adoption event also had lots of vendors, lots of food, and 5 puppies were adopted.The entrance fee for registering in the car show was a bag of dog or cat food-15lbs minimum. This is what we ended up with.
All five of our puppies were adopted. Ford of Port Richey paid for 3 adoptions-they are so nice to work with. and set all of this up for us.

We were shopping for Caladium bulbs about 12 years ago and I came across this small bag of bulbs-there were only 3 bulbs in it and it cost 3 times the amount the Caladium package with 30 bulbs in it cost;  but the picture on the package was so intriguing that--being the flower fool I am- I bought it.
I’m so glad I did. Every year in late May or early June, I’m the recipient of these beautiful, very striking blossoms. I think they look like firecrackers but they are actually called Blood Lily and come from India or Africa … (20 comments)

It was a sunny Saturday and we were in downtown New Port Richey for an event in Sims Park and we had time between, so we stopped by Mezzaluna Pizzeria for a restful interlude on her lovely patio. And, of course, some of her fabulous food.The regulars were there.....Enjoying  the music.... and the lovely day and having Fun!  
Uh Oh, along came a storm; a really nasty storm.

This is one of those things that make you go yummmm. You know how great apples are and what’s better than sharp cheddar cheese? Well, if you were to ask me, it would be extra-sharp cheddar cheese. Use whichever you prefer but pick a good brand-not the store brand. Sharp Cheddar Apple Crisp4 cups sliced apples. This lovely old barn built in the 1930’s is part of the Waters Edge Subdivision in New Port Richey. It is all that is left of founder Ed Haley’s Moon Lake Gardens and Dude Ranch. The barn was the stable for 30 horses of the guests of the Moon Lake Gardens and Dude Ranch which opened in 1937.  It also housed the electric generator - electricity not being in the area at the time. Brisket with Cranberry Gravy-   Slow Cooker Easy. This is one of Craig's favorites If you love cranberries, you will love this. What you need:1 medium onion; sliced1 fresh beef brisket (3 lbs); halved.1 can whole berrry cranberry (jelly with cranberries in it).½-3/4 cup cranberry juice (I love Cranberry/Raspberry juice in this) a squeeze of lemon juice2 teaspoons cornstarch¼ cup water.Directions:Place the onion in the bottom of the slow cooker; put brisket on top. A Brown Orchid- The One That Got Away - 05/01/11 03:33 PM

Wandering through Home Depot in Port Richey, last weekend (I spend a lot of time in garden shops), I saw this lovely orchid. It's blossom is actually a brown color which sounds rather dull but it is really quite lovely. I couldn't buy it then because we weren't heading home and I didn't want to leave it in the car all day.
