interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Jump 13 Basis Point sot New 4 Week High - 10/16/11 07:18 AM
Interest Rates Jump to 4 Week Highs
Interest rates jumped last week for only the second time in seven weeks and it was a significant move. In fact we have to go all the way back to February 13th to find a larger one week jump in rates. No doubt there is continued uncertainty in the equity markets around the world and while the Fed tries their best to keep rates down we can expect that volatility will hang around.
As of this morning, the average overnight rate for a fixed 30 year mortgage as reported by Bankrate.com was at 4.17% … (4 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Slightly Better Than Last Week - 10/08/11 10:58 PM
Interest Rates Down Slightly; Remain Near Record All Time Lows
Rates down as are inventory levels and sales and overall the south Florida real estate market is doing quite well. In some segments buyers are lined up in multiple offer situations while in others little activity is putting continued pressure on pricing. Understanding the market you are buying into has never been more critical and interest rates play a huge role as they will not stay this low forever. Long term money borrowed today can have a huge impact on your future.

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Move a Bit Higher for the 1st Time in 5 Weeks - 10/03/11 10:06 AM
Rates up for the 1st time in 5 weeks
Well they just couldn’t keep going down and we all know that. So rates jump a little last week big deal. Buyers and those looking to re-finance are in high clover. Hadn’t had the opportunity to use that one for a while so I had to look it up; high clover means to live carefree life of ease, comfort, or prosperity. Just what you might be doing a few years down the road by locking in long term money at 4% or perhaps even lower.

As of Sunday the average overnight … (0 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: When I bought my 1st Home a $100,000 loan ran $1,507 a month! - 09/25/11 01:48 AM
Rates drop about 5% to another all-time record low
Rates have been historically low for so long I am afraid buyers do not understand how lucky they are. Home prices remain low but we may start to see increased pricing pressure as inventory levels continue to shrink. But interest rates are you kidding me; thirty year fixed average overnight rate at 4.00000%. As the equity markets had a huge down week interest rates were the beneficiary as investors flock to the “security” of US Treasuries. But those of you who do the grocery shopping know that inflation is here; I saw … (4 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Set Another New All-Time Record Low - 09/14/11 10:35 AM
Rates down for the 2nd Straight Week
Four weeks ago the Fed came out with a statement that they were going to keep interest rates low for at least the next two years. Then for two weeks straight rates went up and it is now great to see things reverse. Thirty year rates were down significantly as we hit a brand new all-time record low eclipsing the record set just 4 weeks ago.

As of Sunday the average overnight rate for a fixed 30 year mortgage as reported by Bankrate.com was down 8 basis points to 4.18% from 4.26% where … (1 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Up Again on the Heels of Fed Announcement - 08/29/11 08:17 AM
Rates up for the second week in a row
Two weeks ago the Fed came out with a statement that they were going to keep interest rates low for at least the next two years. Since then the signs of inflation continue to show their ugly head; have you been to the grocery store lately? So what happens? Rates jumped for the second week in a row for the first time since the weeks of July 3rd and 10th. We have to go back to April to see the last time t happened prior to that. So even though the Fed … (0 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Down Big To All Time New Record Low - 08/14/11 11:33 AM
Eclipses Old Record Set on November 7, 2010
In yet another stunning drop, amidst news that America had lost their AAA bond rating interest rates two weeks took a monumental fall and are now at brand new all time lows. As the world markets continue to be in turmoil, investors are flocking to United States Treasuries which has led to the huge drop. Watch these numbers closely as one would logically think that this downgrading of our debt would mean a significant increase in rates but so far we have seen the opposite. There are historical numbers; like Japan in the … (4 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Drop to Historic Lows - 08/08/11 09:18 PM
Largest One Week Drop in Rates in 10 Months
In a stunning drop, amidst news that America had lost their AAA bond rating interest rates last week took a monumental fall and are ever so close to reaching their lowest levels. As the world markets continue to be in turmoil, investors are flocking to United States Treasuries which has led to the huge drop. Watch these numbers closely as one would logically think that this downgrading of our debt would mean a significant increase  in rates. There are historical numbers; like Japan in the early 1990’s where a downgrade actually lowered … (0 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Down as America Faces Default; Are You Kidding Me? - 08/03/11 03:36 AM
Even with Debt Crisis Dominating the Headlines Interest Rates are Down
Every channel one could watch last week spouted the same devastating news “America just days away from default”. Oh my said chicken little the sky is falling and even though there was no possible chance of default the Republicans and Democrats did little more than pose for future votes, kick the spending can down the road a bit and all is once again right with the world. I must admit with all the “devastating” news it was somewhat surprising to see that for the week interest rates were down once … (0 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Up Slightly Last Week; Interesting Week Ahead - 07/24/11 01:29 AM
Rates up for the 3rd time in 4 weeks
After last weeks big drop things reversed course this week as it became clear that our politicians are nowhere near resolving the looming threat of a default by the United States. Investors are nervous, and who isn’t, with the opening of stock markets across the world a few hours away it should make for a very interesting week with some wild swings in rates and everything else.

interest rates effect on real estate: Huge Drop in Interest Rates is Great News for Buyers - 07/17/11 09:03 AM
Look For More Downward Pressure This Week
Just when it looked like interest rates where heading north we get a big reversal bringing them down much to the liking of every Realtor in America. While we applaud the drop the reasons behind the drop are certainly no reason to celebrate.

Last week the average overnight rate for a fixed 30 year mortgage as reported by Bankrate.com dropped to 4.48% down a full 11 basis points from the 4.59% we stood at a week ago. The benchmark 15 year fixed rate also decreased by 11 basis points last week to 3.63% … (4 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Stabilize After Last Weeks Big Increase - 07/10/11 01:49 AM

Interest Rates Up Again for the 3rd Time in 4 Weeks
After another remarkable long term drop, followed by a substantial jump to the upside reported a week ago I wondered what might happen to rates over the past week. The answer was not much and while rates across the board were higher the increases were fairly insignificant. I still feel strongly that the effects of the end of QE2 at some point will have a negative effect and again this week it will be very interesting watching the markets.

This week the average overnight rate for a fixed … (0 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Largest 1 Week Jump in Interest Rates Since February - 07/04/11 01:56 AM

What effect will the end of QE2 really have?
I really feel that the #1 metric for the continuation of what has been a very strong rebound in the south Florida real estate market is interest rates. They have now been below 5% for over a year, in fact almost 14 months have past when we reported breaking through that level on May 6, 2010. There have been a couple times when we jumped briefly above that mark but once again have seen a wonderful multi-month extended drop.

That was until this week. Nobody is talking about it, I … (1 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Continue to Amaze; New 31 Week Low. BUT WATCH OUT QE2 IS ENDING - 06/27/11 11:42 PM

Interest Rates Down for the 9th Time in 11 Weeks
I continue to marvel at the Fed’s ability to keep rates this low but they came through again this week with a reversal and a nice drop. Rates remain at historically low levels and I cannot say this often or loud enough “If you are looking for a home, find one that you can stay happy in for at least 15 years, lock in these incredible rates and hold on for a long and happy ride because rates will be heading up!” As of today, the average overnight rate, as reported by … (1 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates up Slightly but Still Looking Mighty Fine - 06/19/11 12:21 AM

Interest Rates Continue to Make Me Smile
And why not as even though we had rates make their largest jump to the upside that we have seen in almost 3 months it was still only a tiny move. Rates are still at historically low levels and I cannot say this often or loud enough “If you are looking for a home, find one that you can stay happy in for at least 15 years, lock in these incredible rates and hold on for a long and happy ride because rates will be heading up!” As of today, the average overnight rate, as … (3 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: More Great News for Borrowers; Interest Rates Down Once Again - 06/13/11 03:36 AM
Interest Rates Down for the 8th Time in 9 Weeks
After just finishing us a rather disappointing update of closed sales in May I needed some good news and find in in interest rates. Every week for over two months I have been saying the same thing. And every week I am more and more amazed by what I am seeing. The experts keep telling us to watch for higher interest rates and I think there is no doubt that at some point this picnic is going to end. But when is anyone’s guess so let’s enjoy this amazing opportunity every … (0 comments)

Interest Rates Down Again to Another New Low
The experts keep telling us to watch for higher interest rates and I think there is no doubt that at some point this picnic is going to end. But when is anyone’s guess so let’s enjoy this amazing opportunity every day that we have it on the table in front of us. Interest rates remain at historical lows and continue to amaze, down again this week for the sixth time in seven weeks and the one week they didn’t go down they were up a minuscule increase of 1 basis point. As of … (0 comments)

interest rates effect on real estate: Interest Rates Up for the 1st Time in 6 Weeks; but it was a Very Minor Move - 05/23/11 01:58 AM
Interest rates increased last week for the first time in 6 weeks but the increase was very minimal and keeps us near 6 month lows for 30 year fixed mortgages. Rates still remain very low and the market remains perfect for buyers and those who still have not taken this historical opportunity to refinance. As of Sunday the average overnight rate, as reported by Bankrate.com, for a 30 year fixed rate sits at 4.60% up 1 basis point from the 4.59% we were at last  week. Remember this is the average overnight rate and those with good credit will still be … (0 comments)

Interest Rates Down for the 5th Week in a Row

Interest rates decreased last week for the 5th week in a row and brings us a new 24 week low for 30 year fixed mortgages. This marked the 1st time since September 5th of last year that we have seen rates slide for 5 consecutive weeks. Rates still remain very low and the market remains perfect for buyers and those who still have not taken this historical opportunity to refinance. As of today the average overnight rate, as reported by Bankrate.com, for a 30 year fixed rate sits at 4.59% … (3 comments)
