You can't go wrong with any of these from Martha Stewart.  I'm not having a party, but have to try at least one of these!

parties: 20 Simple Centerpieces - 09/26/09 05:11 AM
Centerpieces always add that special touch to a house.  Anyone can make these for little to nothing.  They can be used for parties, seasonal times of the year, or just for decorating or staging.  I'm always using natural elements from outside for centerpieces, especially living on the Gulf Coast, I have access to a lot of tropical plants.
Most of these are using things you already have and using fresh flowers or fruit.  Very creative cute ideas!
Here are some photos of some centerpieces.   Enjoy!!

parties: Tablescapes - 11/29/08 03:58 PM
I'm really loving the art of tablescapes, they are amazing, and quite an art form.  They can range from the simplistic to extravagant.  You can have ecclectic to extremely formal.  Placement of people is extremely important when using place cards.  Using place cards is an effective way to have guest sit next to people they don't know.  A party is always more fun when you meet new, interesting people.  Seat people that you think will keep the conversation going sprinkled around the table.
The table should be in layers.  The first layer are the items that stay on the table such as the tablecloth, … (3 comments)

parties: Underage Drinking-Why Teens Do It - 04/12/08 11:21 AM
I recently read an article by Officer Randy Derr, of the Houston Police Department, that had some really disturbing statistics and information about teens and alcohol.  The article cited some excerpts from MADD.

Although a majority of parents believe peer pressure to be the primary reason teenagers drink or use drugs, teens say:  79% say being drunk/high feels good.  67% say it helps them to forget problems.  66% say others do it (peer pressure).  47% … (6 comments)
