3 houses we staged sold in under a week in Houston & Galveston.  Wow, that's the fantastic news we received last week about three different properties in and around the Houston area.  Who says buyer's aren't out there?  The home sellers were worried they were going to be sitting on their properties for a while, maybe all summer.

staged: When Should I Stage My Home? Questions Answered Series-#1 - 05/16/10 02:18 PM
The answer to that question is easy.  As soon as you decide to sell your home.  The sooner you get started staging the better.  Staging may require some updates of fixtures, painting, landscaping and packing away things that aren't getting used.
Why not get your house ready and start enjoying it now?  All too many times, homeowners get their homes all updated, and they always say "Why didn't we do this while we were living here".  So, get started now, so you can take advantage of your new look.
After you have finished the recommendations from the professional home stagers … (3 comments)

staged: 15 Reasons A Vacant Home Should Be Staged - 04/11/10 06:23 PM
Why you should have your home professionally staged.
Did you know?
Only 10% of buyers can visualize their belongings in a vacant home, that means 90% can't. The longer a buyer lingers in a home the better, the average for a vacant home is 5 minutes opposed to 40 minutes for a staged property. A home that is staged gives the buyer an emotional connection to that home, and purchasing a home is one of life's largest emotional purchases. The longer a home sits on the market, the less it will be shown and will be considered a stale listing. Buyers interest in homes … (15 comments)

I get asked these questions alot.
"Is it worth it to stage my house?"  "My house is not that big, it's probably not worth staging?" "Is the price point too low to stage my house?" This is a very informative post from Maureen Bray, owner of Room Solutions Staging in Portland, OR about becoming a Home Stager.
I will add that to become "legal" with the State of Texas it is $300 alone to form a business, and that does not include your filing fee.  Yes, you have to pay taxes, and pay a Business Franchise Tax on top of your taxes.

Many of us regularly receive emails or calls from "wannabe" stagers .... I've had so many that I came up with a letter to send them.  They deserve to know the "reality" of the staging business … (4 comments)

Summer is over, and your house is still for sale.  What is your next plan of action?  A price reduction?  How many have you taken already?  Can you really afford to take another one?  If you're like most sellers probably not.
Ask yourself these questions:

Is your house still on the market? Is it getting any activity? Have you reduced the price? Do you have to move soon? Are you paying two mortgages? Are you getting negative feedback? Are you competing against new homes? Most home sellers can answer yes to one or most all of these questions. … (2 comments)
