The 2012 Annual SSH (South Shore Harbour) Garage Sale will take place Saturday, October, 13th from 8:00am to 12:00pm in League City, TX.

Texas Sales Tax Free Weekend 2012. It's that time of year again for the State of Texas to have it's "Sales Tax Holiday", Aug. 17 (Fri.), 18 (Sat.), and 19th (Sun.).
Are you new to Texas, and haven't heard about this weekend? It happens one weekend a year right before school starts and applies mostly to clothes and school supplies priced under $100. Local and state sales tax will not be collected on certain back-to-school items.

The gated community of South Shore Harbour will have its annual Garage Sale on October 16th from 8am until noon. This is the largest of it's kind in the Bay Area. Visitors must enter through the main guard gates located off of South Shore Blvd. Visitors will not be allowed in prior to times set for sale. Security will be stationed at certain streets to help direct traffic.

The Clear Lake Symphony will be starting their fall season with Mr. Robert Wall as conductor featuring light classical and jazz selections. This year the Symphony will be playing at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Nassau Bay, TX (across from The Johnson Space Center-NASA).
Opening day will be September 17, 2010 (Friday).
All concerts begin at 7:30pm and tickets are available at the door or at Eye Trends, 515 Bay Area Blvd, Suite #303.

They recommend screening if: You are 50 years or older.
Your father or brother had prostate cancer.

Registration for the Bay Area Texas Baseball and tee ball for players from ages 5 to 18. The registration fee will include uniforms. All play. The games will take place at the Dad's Club park (off Highway 3 near Clear Lake City Blvd.) and mostly played on Sunday afternoons. Fees are from $70 - $110.
Players should be from Clear Lake, Nassau Bay, League City, Friendswood, Seabrook, Pasadena and surrounding areas.

Have you noticed the new changes League City has been making? A new mayor, new city council members, new city logo, new newsletter, new website, new developments...hard to keep up with it all. There's alot going on down in this growing city in between Houston and Galveston. Check out their new website here to see what all is going on this summer for the kids. Beginning May 15th, the Clear Lake Sailing Club will be sponsoring an "Introduction to Sailing" class. The 3 day course consist of a Saturday morning classroom lesson. When the course is completed, the participants will practice hands-on rigging of a smalll sailboat and experience a one hour sailing demonstration with our sailing club. They are targeting beginners interested in the sport of small sailboat sailing. Only 12 registrants permitted. The annual one year membership in the Clear Lake Sailing Club is $75.

Saturday, April 24th, 2010 will be the Texas Adopt-A-Beach Sring Clean-Up. Volunteers wil meet at 9am in Surfside and Quintana for general beach clean-up. Be prepared for all weather conditions, and bring water. Supplies and free meal afterward will be provided. Beautify our beaches and get some fresh air and sun.

What a great organization, the Bay Area Meals On Wheels is an all volunteer Corporation, and meals are delivered from 11am - 12:30pm, Monday through Griday, year round, including all holidays not falling on Saturday or Sunday. Service is available either temporarily or long term, if conditions merit.
Currently, there are 7 routes and each one can serve up to twelve clients.
BAMOW purchases meals from Christus St. John's Hospital in Nassau Bay. Coordinators pack the meals for transport and drivers deliver the meals to the clients home. The routes last about 2 hours.

Hurricane season will officially begin June 1, 2010. It's never too early to prepare, as Colorado State University is predicting an Above-Average Hurricane Season. They are also predicting eight major Hurricanes for 2010. Four of the season's hurricanes are expected to strengthen and become major hurricanes.
The city of League City will have a Hurricane Preparedness Workshop on Saturday, May 8th, from 10am to 2pm at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center. There will be city officials, vendors, and volunteers to help get you ready for potential storms.
