Stewardship Ontario is starting to receive furious and irate questions demanding answers to this now controversial eco fee program.
Shoppers and manufacturers already pay to recycle packaging through the blue box program and now have to pay an extra eco fee on products!
Stewardship Ontario sent out an alert lat week to its stewards, brand owners and first importers, urging them 'bury the eco fee in the sticker price'. I'm not making this stuff up, true yet most Ontarians have their heads in the sand! (All the other Canadian provinces have said that about Ontario, but that's another story)
