AULD LANG SYNE - 12/31/09 01:48 PM
A friend introduced me to this group's music a few days ago and I am hooked.  They are fabulous.  Their version of Auld Lang Syne is the best I have heard.

Luv Those Faces! - 12/27/09 09:46 AM

Each morning I wake up to these adorable little furballs and they help start the day off on the right foot!

Gracie & Gigi, in the top photos, were sent to our local SPCA from an overcrowded one elsewhere in our province.  They apparently never knew their Mom.  One of our Vet's assistants took them home and cared for them until they were old enough to be neutered.
That is when my husband & I entered the picture.....we had just lost the Mother cat to … (14 comments)

you know you are married to the right person when...... - 12/24/09 01:08 PM
My husband has a great sense of humour which is one of the main reasons I married him.  He is also more forgiving than I am at times, which is another quality I love about him - especially now when I have been procrastinating about laundry.
One of my favourite things is waking up early together and lying in bed talking while our pussy cats snooze away.
He cracked me up this morning by asking if I was trying to gather enough coins to do the laundry:did I not realize it didn't require coins?  Yup I got his message and also … (12 comments)

Price Reduced-What Do Buyers Think When they See the Sign? - 12/20/09 06:11 PM
This is a great post dealing with a pet peeve of mine as a home stager.  It is beyond me why a realtor would not offer his client the option of home staging BEFORE recommending a price reduction.
When I drive around my area and see "price reduced" or "new price" signs of realtors who have discounted the value of staging my blood boils and I feel concern for the home owner.
It's one thing if a realtor makes a sincere pitch about home staging and their client rejects the idea; however the comments I get back from realtors make no … (6 comments)

NEW Project - Ready Set Stage's "3rd Time Is A Charm" - 12/19/09 12:32 PM
These photos are so good, they look like art to me.  WOW!  The staging ain't so bad either what a team.
This is what staging and great photos can do for your properties for sale.
When a house has mere seconds to make a strong impression on a home buyer which photos are going to catch their eye - blurry ones, poorly lit, with clutter and unmade beds or photos like this stager and photographer team up to present for their clients.

OOPS, HOPE SANTA DIDN'T SEE THAT! - 12/19/09 11:39 AM
A girlfriend told me about a saying she had seen on a sign when shopping across the border.  When I stopped laughing, I asked her if she bought it & she said no, but she regretted it while she was driving back home.  No kidding!!!
The saying stayed in my mind and I looked everywhere for it, and then VOILA!, there it is in front of me at the Vancouver Gift show this past September.  I had to have it.
I built a display around it in my little boutique at the Mosaic Market in Davis Bay on the Coast.  Does … (8 comments)

FUN WITH ART ON A MINIMAL BUDGET - 12/16/09 09:26 PM
Whether a re-design or staging, art is an important part of creating a special look in a room.
While shopping for a client, I came across some very inexpensive art which I thought would be fun to use.  It cannot be used in all homes, or all rooms; however there is a place for the wall art I discovered priced from $9 - $20.
This little girl's room was painted a soft pink, which pleased her and worked with the colourful print valance on the window.
When I found the orange, pink & white vinyl strip, I knew I had … (5 comments)

8155 Westwood Road, Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast of B.C. - 12/16/09 06:50 PM
I am a home stager on the Sunshine Coast of BC, a lovely 40 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver.   Following #1 highway along the upper levels, we turn off to the right for the ferry terminal, while the other traffic carries onto Squamish and Whistler.
This is beautiful country and as many of you already know, we are hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics in February.  The Coast bed & breakfasts are quickly filling up with reservations from visitors from all over the world who will enjoy our peaceful lifestyle in between Olympic events.

Shopping for Christmas goodies on the Coast - 12/15/09 01:12 PM
It's getting closer to the big day and many are looking for special somethings for friends & family on their Christmas lists.
On the Sunshine Coast, residents are touring all of the craft fairs put on by our fabulous local artists, and checking out the local shops in Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Davis Bay, Sechelt and Pender Harbour.
If you have not stopped into Mosaic Market in Davis Bay as yet, here is your invitation.  You will be glad you stopped in.  We are dressed up for Christmas and each of our booths has lovely options - big & small - for … (0 comments)

CAVEAT EMPTOR applies to both HOME BUYERS AND HOME SELLERS - 12/14/09 03:24 PM
There was a time when we heard the phrase, CAVEAT EMPTOR, a fair bit.  I cannot recall when that may have been; however after reading a post under the realtor section about unethical behaviour, this phrase came to mind.  I added my thoughts to the blog and then considered it was a good topic generally for me to address.
For those unfamiliar with this term, it is Latin and it loosely translates into BUYER BEWARE: which, for me, means do not blindly trust someone just because they have a professional designation such as lawyer, doctor, engineer, architect; and specifically for the … (4 comments)

WHAT CREATIVE UPSTAGING CAN ACCOMPLISH - room 3 - a room that needs to make a strong impression - 12/09/09 11:07 PM
Home stagers know a kitchen in a house for sale is one of the rooms which must impress potential buyers.
When I walked into this kitchen, I knew it needed more than just staging to be the kitchen that buyers could imagine themselves cooking and eating in.
kitchen counters: the dated orange laminate was not going to impress - an important counter space was only crotch height.  The homeowners told me it was that way when they bought and they just left it that way.  The height worked for the kids as a counter to eat at;however it broke the flow … (8 comments)

WHAT CREATIVE THINKING CAN ACCOMPLISH - room 2 - 12/08/09 11:58 AM

This ensuite bathroom had the basics in place, a lovely deep tub, a separate shower, a new lowflush toilet - however the vanity was in sad shape and the gaudy wallpaper had to go!
BEFORE

Gone is the dated wallpaper.  The colour scheme came from the tub and the lovely valance I got from Arbutus Interiors in Sechelt on sale for $20, already made up.  The charming mirror & art work are from HOMESENSE in Park Royal.  This was not an expensive project; however the new room is far more inviting.
As they say, "...a picture is worth … (14 comments)
