Homestead information available for Jupiter residents - 11/28/10 09:24 AM
Residents can learn how to apply for homestead exemption and gain a understanding on property appraisal issues this Wednesday at Jupiter Town Hall. Representatives from the Palm Beach County property appraiser's office will be available on their monthly visit. If you need to apply bring a copy of your deed and proof of residency, like a drivers license, voter's registration card of declaration of domicile. Additional information will be discussed including senior citizen, disabled veterans, combat-disabled senior citizens and widow/widower exemptions.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to lift ban on foreclosure sales - 11/28/10 09:21 AM
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac gave the go-ahead this week to restart sales of their foreclosed properties, which had been on hold since September when it was revealed that flawed or fraudulent court documents may have been used to repossess homes. In South Florida, the move releases thousands of houses for sale that were removed from the market earlier this year.
However there are still too many unanswered questions about whether foreclosures have been handled legally. Concerns about obtaining a clear title are legitimate and buyers are encouraged in using a real estate attorney at closing on a successful offer. Fannie … (0 comments)

The 2010 Property Tax Notice are in the mail. Property taxes are payable November 1 - March 31. Taxpayers have an opportunity to save money by paying taxes early. Discounts for early payments are allowable as follows: 4% in November 3% in December 2% in January 1% in February Discounts are not allowable in March and taxes become delinquent on April 1.
