In light of the media's blitz, they seem puzzled when I tell them, "No more than usual." "Usual" being the operative word. Mortgage foreclosures occur in good times, bad times, all times. Many predatory lending schemes target equity rich/cash poor senior citizens. Regardless of the target, the predators seek unjust enrichment by obscuring the facts. Predatory lending practices, as well as deed stealing and equity theft are usually carefully disguised, slickly presented, but always designed to exploit the homeowner's lack of financial acumen and emotional weaknesses.
