Great news released today from USDA / Rural Development regarding the proposed USDA eligibility map changes that were scheduled to happen in coming months. USDA now says the property eligibility location changes have been canceled for now!  For exactly how long is unknown, but appears everything will remain the same for at least the next year. The proposed USDA map changes would have disqualified many popular Florida locations outside of Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville. The current closing time for the USDA home loans in Florida is around 35-40 days. This is from the time of full contract. Many people are aware that the United States Census updated their population data this past year. As a result the population increase, USDA/Rural Development will be publishing changes to the eligible home location map sometime around September 2011.  As the population continues to grow in Florida, the eligible USDA "Rural" locations continue to get smaller.
