Barkerville, BC - 08/13/07 04:27 PM
On Friday I decided to take the day off and drove 2 1/2 hours with the kids to spend the day at Barkerville.
Barkerville is an amazing town which was is located in central British Columbia.  It was founded in the 1860's during the cariboo gold rush by Billy Barker.  During the course of 8 years over 100,000 people travelled the Cariboo Wagon Trail to Barkerville in search of gold. Would you believe this was once the largest city west of Chicago and north of San Francisco?  It's true!

  Now
Another smaller gold rush took place in the area around the 1930's.  Barkerville was a … (3 comments)

Housing Starts Dip During July - 08/10/07 10:27 PM
It appears that housing starts have declined in Prince George during the month of July.  We are down 19% from July of last year.  Could it be that housing starts are down because people are unable to find tradespeople and contractors to construct their houses?
The articles with statistics can be found here (from The Prince George Citizen) and here (from Opinion 250)

Earning Commission - 08/08/07 12:08 AM
Recently I have noticed that sellers only ever ask "How much is your commission rate?".  Not once have I ever had anyone ask "What do you do to earn the commission rate?"
I think the latter is a very important question that is overlooked by sellers.  I know there are  'discount' commission brokers around and I know that they get many, many listing because their commission is so low.  It makes me wonder how much time/marketing/personal touches that they are able to dedicate to their sellers.
After mulling over this over for the past week, I am now including a presentation to potential listing clients that outlines my … (0 comments)

Check Insurance Coverage before Disaster Strikes - 08/02/07 04:10 PM
This information was passed out to the Realtors in my brokerage the other day, but I do not know from where it originated.  It certainly is something to keep in mind...
"Although this year's summer season in BC hasn't been the warmest, the risk of forest fires and the devastation of years past are on the minds of many.  Realtors should advise their clients to check their insurance coverage now, rather than waiting until their communities are threatened.
