vacation rentals: Little country, big wallet - 06/18/09 07:49 PM
For swimmy glowy waters, Aruba is quite a Caribbean gem.  For all the marketing tiny Aruba does to market its destination, you would think it was a huge country.  The country spends upwards to $50 million a year to market its destination which is a big budget for Caribbean nations, as I learned recently during the Caribbean Summit.  But it is just a little larger than Washington DC, as per the Viscape destination description below.

Aruba Located about 15 miles north of the Venezuelan coast, Aruba – which is about the size of the Washington DC – is a … (5 comments)

vacation rentals: Lakefront or rather volcano-front vacation homes in Arenal - 06/17/09 05:50 PM
If you've ever been to Arenal, Costa Rica, it is one of those places where volcanic eruptions are a normal part of life.  There's not many volcanoes that are as active and glowy as what you might get to experience in Arenal.  The lava flows light up the night sky.  Boy, what an awesome sight to see.  I was there a few years ago.  We didn't see the volcano lit quite like the one below.  I'm not sure that I'd want to be there for that.  But we saw the lava rocks spewing out of the top.  It was pretty cool.  … (0 comments)

vacation rentals: Nude beaches in Aquinnah? Check out this picture! Woooo! Sassy! - 06/16/09 05:05 PM
Who knew that Martha's Vineyard had a seedy side to it?  Its called "Nude on the beach."  Look at this picture of a beach bum.  And I mean what a bum!  Martha's Vineyard has been well known for its upscale, hoity-toity elite, many of whom come from Boston, who descend upon Martha's for weddings, family gatherings, honey moons, and so on and so forth.  But whoever woulda thunk nude beaches??
As we did a little research on the Aquinnah destination on Viscape and this is what we found......

vacation rentals: As a boater, finding a great vacation home in Annapolis would be a dream - 06/10/09 04:11 PM
Crabcakes and boating go hand in hand when visiting Annapolis.  In fact, I can't think of a better place in the country....well, rather the world, for crabcakes than in Annapolis, simply because the Chesapeake has such a delicious selection or crabs of all types.
As we planned a short weekend trip to Annapolis, we checked out the Viscape website, and found that it got a high review of 88%.  Woo-hoo!  Here is a snippet from the Annapolis destination overview.

vacation rentals: Inviting all property owners and agents to list their Amsterdam short term rental or corporate rental on Viscape - 06/07/09 04:06 PM
Amsterdam is such a beautiful city with canals and tulips all over everywhere.  I've always wanted to spend time there.  Even the countryside full of green grass and irises smells fresh, floral and farmy.  I'd love to go and walk around town in some clogs with a basket of tulips and just give them to people to cheer them up and bring a smile to their face.  Wouldn't that be cool.....and fun?
I was on the Viscape website looking for short term rentals in Amsterdam and the property selection was pretty scarce.  Viscape enables property owners and real estate professionals to … (0 comments)

vacation rentals: My dream.....buying beach front real estate in Ambergris Caye Belize - 06/06/09 03:37 PM
Most people don't realize this but Belize is a tiny little country.  Its the size of Vermont but has the population of Arlington County Virginia of approximately 200,000 people.  You can still snap of a piece of Ambergris Caye real estate cheaply when comparing the price of beach front property to other parts of the Caribbean.  Ambergris Caye has become one of the more popular areas for real estate development.  Its an island off the coast of Belize just 35 miles north of Belize City.  San Pedro is the largest big city on the island.  Here is a brief snippet of … (0 comments)

We are dreaming up a trip to the Amalfi Coast of Italy and figured....what the heck!  Let's take a look and see if we can find an affordable Amalfi Coast vacation rental on Viscape.  We were surprised to see that there's a pretty good selection of vacation rentals for Italy and southern Europe - over 115 rentals, which was awesome.  Check out the screen shot below.

vacation rentals: Vacation homes in Africa. Do they exist? - 06/04/09 04:01 PM
Africa is one continent where vacation and second homes are more of a rarity unlike other continents.  We did a little research on the Viscape website for Africa vacation homes and this is what we found.  The places to find vacation rentals appear to be primarily in Morocco and South Africa.   I'd be interested to hear if other places on the continent offer vacation home lodging as well.
When planning your next trip, you may want to consider off the beaten path, otherworldly places of Marrakesh and Cape Town.  Meanwhile, enjoy the view!

vacation rentals: Guess which resort town Paul McCartney, Alec Baldwin, and Jerry Seinfeld own vacation homes? - 06/03/09 03:36 PM
Hmmmm.....this one's tough, but not really.  You may have guessed Hamptons which is more universally known as the New York City get away spot.  But more specifically, its Amagansett -- which is east of East Hampton before you take the road to Montauk.  If you're looking for affordable vacation homes in Amagansett, it may be a better time to buy than usual.  Affordable?  Maybe not.  Especially when a beach house sold for 107 million dollars in 2007.  The Hamptons, which is notoriously a playground for the ultra rich, coming from New York City on helicopters and ferraris, has prices to match.  … (0 comments)

vacation rentals: A guest at Buckingham Palace? Probably not. Be the Queen's neighbor for $100 per night - absolutely! - 02/10/09 12:53 PM
Visiting London is always so exciting!  Its hip.  Full of energy.  And those sexy British accents are always a trip!  I love the old cobblestone roads, the pubs, and the history all around you!  Its awesome!  I got especially excited when I saw this lovely pad -

vacation rentals: France on a vacation rental shoe string - Part deux - 01/27/09 04:55 PM
I've been wanting to go to France for years.  But the Euro just kills it for me.  Just why oh why does the dollar have to diminish our buying power as much as it has?
For travelers like me, a weak dollar means I go to places where I get more for my money - the Caribbean, Mexico, and places where the dollar has been less affected.
As I plan a trip to France, trying to find vacation rental bargain for $100 per night or less, I managed to find a few bargains, even in Paris!

vacation rentals: $6 million bucks and a chateau in the Loire Valley in France is yours! - 01/26/09 03:17 PM
I came across this vacation rental for a several hundred year old chataeu 12,000 square feet in the Loire Valley in France - the "Chateau de Bussiere."
I have always romanticized about the notion of living like royalty for a week.  Remember - the fairy tales that we all read and loved when we were little?  Being a princess, queen, or king is something that seems like fantasy and not reality.
Well, that fantasy can be realized at the Chateau de Bussiere, which sleeps 14 people for $2000 per night.  At first look, it may seem pricey, but break down the … (11 comments)

vacation rentals: I finally found a massage therapist for my cat! - 01/22/09 06:32 PM
You may be thinking.....a massage therapist for my cat?  Well....what about humans?
Its amazing the professions I come across through social networking!  I came across a lady tonight in one of my LinkedIn groups for house swapping, and she is a professional massage therapist for humans and animals.  I couldn't help but laugh out loud!  As I read her profile, it went on to say that she works with "animal athletes" and zoo animals and is based in Seattle.
Anyway, I'm really thinking towards massage and vacation.
I'm thinking beach and warm.  I've got my eye on a few places - … (0 comments)

vacation rentals: Its official! Obama is president and I'm an Active Rainer! - 01/20/09 05:09 PM
I really love Active Rain.  In fact, I've been a fan for several months.
I love that it makes it easy for realtors in different markets to be able to find each other.  Probably what I love most about Active Rain is all the friendly people I've met through it - both online and offline.  Realtors who join Active Rain tend to be much more social media and technology savvy.
A few months ago, I met Active Bob and Active Rich at a NAR event in November 2008.  Did I mention that the event was at a secret location which … (10 comments)
