The Heart of Virginia Festival is an age old tradition here in Southside Virginia. This writer can't tell you exactly when it originated but I can tell you of the joy and laughter it brings our community. About this time of year, when the leaves on the trees are in full growth, the Town of Farmville starts buzzing around getting ready for the annual event which attracts thousands from near and far.

Outdoor Recreation in Prince Edward, Virgina - High Bridge Trail State Park

This beautiful rails to trails state park starts in Nottoway County and winds about 32 miles through Prince Edward County and Cumberland Counties providing outdoor recreation many locals in South Central Virginia. The high point (no pun intended) is High Bridge that crosses the Appomattox River at a height of 160 feet and is almost 1/2 mile long.
