This annual event is a special tradition for raising money for the American Cancer Society. Numerous big rigs and other commercial trucks deck themselves out in support of family, friends and everyone that has been affected by cancer. They have an auction full of items and also fun things for the kids such as a kids train and face painting. Each year as the weather gets warmer we all start dreaming of getting away from it all and taking the much anticipated VACATION!! There is a lot to say for exploring a new city, beach resort, mountian range, etc. but there is also such much you enjoy practically in your own back yard. The "staycation" is used when someone takes time off from their job but does not go away for that time. Instead  you stay at home or take day trips that do not require overnight accommodations.

We're excited to announce the opening of a new local attraction, The Adventure Park at Sandy River Retreat on June 15,2012. This tree-top adventure park is the first of it's kind in the State of Virginia. 
There are 47 obstacles including 11 zip lines, separated into four different course/trails (the easiest suitable for ages 7-9), similar to those found on a ski mountain. Each trail consists of elements like rope bridges, logs, cargo nets, swings, ladders, and zip lines.
