Townhomes in Fairfax Virginia for Sale
The townhome communities around the Fair Lakes area of Fairfax have a lot to offer and have maintained their values, even with the depressed housing market we've recently experienced.  They are popular with the buyers for many reasons.  First, they are newer, and many have attributes such as gourmet kitchens, walk-in closets, master bedroom suites, and three level bump-outs.

Another attraction for the townhomes in Fairfax are their location to many major transportation routes.  You can access I-66, Route 29, Route 123, Route 50, and the Fairfax County Parkway in just a matter of … (4 comments)

Calling all Fence Sitters - Now is the Time to Buy! - 03/21/11 04:13 PM
Calling all fence sitters - now is the time to buy!

Buying vs. Renting - Is Now The Time to Buy?  Not sure where whether now is the time to get off the fence and jump into home ownership?  The Northern Virginia housing market is starting to see some signs of life.  And consider this: Money spent on rent is gone forever; money paid into a home ofyour own increases the equity in your property.  Now is the time to pick up a bargain.  The recent housing downturn has transformed a "seller's market" into a "buyer's market" and home prices … (1 comments)

Long Lost Books of Thomas Jefferson Found!

74 books believed to be from the private collection of Thomas Jefferson have recently been found in the rare books collection of Washington University in St. Louis Missouri.
Mr. Jefferson owned three libraries, the first of which was destroyed in a fire.  His second library was sold to the government for $23,950 to replace the Library of Congress collection destroyed by the British during the War of 1812.  His third was disbursed at the time of his death.  The discovered collection was owned by Jefferson's granddaughter, Ellen Wayles Randolph Coolidge, and was … (1 comments)

My Best Friend is a Dog - 03/17/11 08:43 PM
We met Rorey via the Potomac Cairn Terrier Rescue group.  He was posted as being up for adoption on their web site, and we fell in love at first site.  He was a year old.  And his story is worth sharing.  He was born in a "puppy mill" in Pennsylvania that was closed down by authorities, and had spent the first year of his life outdoors, in a pen, with no one holding him, brushing him, loving him - and obviously no one adopting him.  What a cold world he must have thought it was.  His nose is a little crooked, … (3 comments)

Guys and gals, I just got a phone call from someone wanting to sell their home as a Short Sale.  It's a high-end home, and she owes 1.2 million on it (today's value should be somewhere around 750K).  But she has a foreclosure date already set, March 15.  Are we too late trying to take her the short sale route?  Can we get the foreclosure process stopped?  Greatly apreciate any and all help.

The Amazing Turbo Encabulator! - 03/03/11 07:24 PM
And so I am told, that... "Rockwell International decided to get into the heavy duty automatic transmission business. They were getting ready to tape their first introductory video. As a warm up, the stage crew began what has become a legend within the training industry. This man should have won an academy award for his stellar performance.   This was a rehearsal for camera, lighting and stage crew (complete ad-libbing).It is said this video is still utilized as a training aide for incoming Congressmen, lawyers, and current White House Administrators. Enjoy!!"

Welcome to Virginia! - 03/03/11 06:53 PM

Welcome to Virginia! I love seeing that sign when I return to Northern Virginia, even if it's just coming from neighboring Maryland. What a wonderful place to live...the Old Dominion state! As one of the thirteen original colonies, the birthplace of eight presidents, and site of many national treasures such as Mount Vernon and Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia is rich in American history.
And there is always something to do here...somewhere new to explore. We are just hours away from the mountains (and skiing), or the ocean, and a four-hour Acela Train ride to New York. We have Wolftrap, … (1 comments)

Northern Virginia Home Sales, February 2011 - 03/03/11 07:11 AM
Northern Virginia Home Sales, February 2011 Because we've seen an increase in buyer activity in recent weeks, including situations where there have been multiple contracts on properties, these are surprising results. In the Northern Virginia area, to include Arlington, Alexandria, and all of Fairfax County including Manassas City and Fairfax City, we actually saw a slight decrease in sales in February from the same time period in 2010. Consumer confidence just isn't where we'd like it to be, or people are still holding off to see what direction the  economy is going to go.
