This info has nothing to do with real estate, however,I feel compelled to post the news as they (LV) were so kind to donate the Louis Vuitton motorcycle to the Make-A-Wish event at the Barnharts. Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf will also be the new face of LV...representing their LV hometown...in which the Neverfull handbags will surely be an inevitable must have in LV. Keith Richards would be a fabulous candidate living in the 'rock' star penthouse atop the Vegas World Jewelry Center Residences... http://www.lasvegaswealthgroup.com/ By Sara Gay Forden
March 4 (Bloomberg) -- Keith Richardsis the new face of Louis Vuitton, the French maker of luxury handbags and luggage. The 64-year-old Rolling Stone appeared on a London billboard today and advertising placed in British newspapers. The campaign will feature in magazines throughout March, Antoine Arnault, Vuitton's head of communications and the 30-year-old son of Bernard Arnault, founder of brand owner LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, said in a Feb. 28 interview. The younger Arnault said the ads are designed to promote Vuitton's heritage in luggage and win back older customers that lost interest as the label became more fashion-oriented. Earlier ads in the campaign featured Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and actress Catherine Deneuve. Richards appears with a deeply wrinkled face holding a guitar in a hotel room with a custom- made Vuitton guitar case behind him on the bed. ``Keith Richards is timeless and ageless,'' said Rita Clifton, who heads the U.K. division of brand consultant Interbrand. ``He's lived his life on the edge, but he's not a sleaze bag. He's lean and mean and he's still current.'' Arnault, speaking in his Paris office, said Louis Vuitton is picking ``achievers who changed things'' to star in the ads. The first series included Deneuve sitting on her Vuitton trunk in a film-set train station, and tennis champions Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf cuddling on a couch near their luggage. Richards was photographed by Vanity Fair contributor Annie Leibovitz and the image features lamps hung with black scarves printed with skulls. A caption reads: ``Some journeys cannot be put into words.'' Ad Spending The younger Arnault said Louis Vuittonwants to reach business customers and frequent flyers who thought the label had shifted from being a travel brand. Since 1997, Creative Director Marc Jacobshas driven Vuitton's expansion into clothing. He declined to release figures on ad spending or say which celebrities will feature next. Two more famous people will appear this year, he said. According to estimates by Alessandra Rossi, marketing manager for Nielsen Global AdView, Louis Vuitton spent about $80 million last year between January and November advertising in the Asia-Pacific region, Germany, Italy, the U.K. and the U.S. Louis Vuitton, whose advertising expenses rose 28 percent last year, was the fourth-largest spender after Gucci, Armani and Ralph Laurenand spent more than Prada, according to Rossi's estimates, which are based on standard market rates. The label, whose Neverfull handbags can cost more than $600, is also advertising on television, with a global campaign making its way to France on March 10 after breaking in U.S. cinemas and cable channels last month. The 90-second spot, developed with agency Ogilvy & Mather and director Bruno Aveillan, doesn't feature celebrities, shows few LV logos and offers captions about personal journeys while music plays. LAS VEGAS WELCOMES RECORD-BREAKING NUMBER OF VISITORS IN 2007
LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) announced Tuesday Las Vegas' visitation grew to 39.2 million in 2007. It marked the fourth consecutive year Las Vegas set a new visitation record. Last year's visitation count represents a 0.7 percent increase over the 2006 figure of 38.9 million.
Las Vegas also matched its highest occupancy level in history, reaching 90.4 percent for the year, tying its previous record set in 1996. The destination's average occupancy level now stands at 27 percentage points above the national average.
Clark County's gaming revenue also broke the previously set record, rising 2.2 percent to $10.9 billion.
"The strength of the Las Vegas brand continues, as reflected by another record year for visitation," said Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO, LVCVA.
In addition to releasing 2007 visitation statistics, the LVCVA issued a projection that 39.8 million people will visit the destination in 2008, noting more than 9,000 new guest rooms are slated to be added to Las Vegas' hotel inventory this year. Nearly $40 billion in new development is planned or under way between now and 2012, including approximately 40,000 hotel and motel rooms and 5 million square feet of convention space citywide.

With approximately 133,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas alone and 9.5 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space citywide, the LVCVA's mission centers on attracting ever-increasing numbers of leisure and business visitors to the area.

Remember... What Vegas Wants, Vegas Gets. Las Vegas changes its image as often as Madonna. Old Vegas began downtown with gambling and showstoppers such as Viva Elvis, Frank Sinatra, showgirls and buffets. As Vegas grew south, big dreams turned into mega-resorts and the family destination playgrounds arose with casino hotels such as Excalibur, MGM theme park, and Luxor. The Exotica period came almost overnight as we frolicked in delights of What Happens In Sin City with burlesque shows, strip clubs and Pussy Cat Dolls; fine dining, shopping, spas and an occasional Broadway show; a flurry of nightclubs brought in Hollywood celebs and out of the blue~Vegas wins the Oscar for being the top convention destination in the world...topping gambling! And now, luxury connoisseurs are creating lifestyles for the powerful as the entire city of Las Vegas is now under construction; a $36+ Billion-dollar-building-spree. The unique factoid about Vegas is we never lost any of our amenities: gambling, shows, buffets, showgirls, family entertainment, Adult Entertainment, first-class dining, extravagant shopping, nightclubs, spas, convention...we just keep adding on...and building up. Las Vegas is now recreating its destiny as the international Luxury Destination of the World. Luxury developments such as The Plaza, Delano, Mondrian, The Palazzo, Trump International, Turnberry, Palms Place, MGM Mirage City Center, Fontainebleau, Encore, Echelon, and our problem child The Cosmopolitan (keep trying IBE...remember your mantra..."50% location, location, location...and 50% timing." ). What other city can boast as many Chanel and Louis Vuitton stores in a single city block? Palazzo has a plethora of decadent designer boutiques; and Barneys. We are even attracting the unexpected like Bauman Rare Books, stating "This town has way too much of everything. With the possible exception of rare books." With all of the changes Las Vegas has experienced over the past 50 years, one thing is consistent... PEOPLE LOVE US, THEY REALLY LOVE US! Oh, oh...My Vegas is showing... I am not an expert by no means on predicting the future of the economy. Read what local economists predict in this article from the Review Journal by Hubble Smith. Also, January 31st is Preview Las Vegas where the fabulous Richard Lee will be speaking...tickets can be purchased online at http://www.lvchamber.com/ Email me directly and I will send you an impressive pdf on Union Park. ShariSanderson@cox.net Drive down Paradise and take a look at what is in the works. Take a week and try to go to all of the projects on and around the Las Vegas Strip. Economist: modest growth for Southern Nevada
By HUBBLE SMITH REVIEW-JOURNAL Click image for enlargement.
Southern Nevada's economy will "muddle" through 2008 with modest growth in employment, population, visitors and gaming revenue, while the housing market continues to make adjustments and median home prices decline further, local economist Keith Schwer said Tuesday.Schwer, director of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Center for Business and Economic Research, said he has great difficulty in predicting a recession, though he admitted that the possibility is greater nationally than locally. His monthly Southern Nevada Index of Leading Economic Indicators keeps moving sideways, with a downturn in the residential market buoyed by $30 billion in Strip investment and 40,000 new hotel rooms coming online by 2009."I think Jimmy Stewart was right. I think it is a wonderful life," Schwer told more than 300 people attending his Economic Outlook 2008 at Las Vegas Convention Center. "And when the bell rings, we'll get another angel." Schwer predicts 2.9 percent growth in 2008 visitor volume, 2.6 percent population growth, 2.1 percent employment growth and 1.6 percent gaming revenue growth. Housing permit units will drop nearly 22 percent, he said. All of those percentages will increase in 2009, driven by a 15.8 percent increase in hotel rooms. "We think hotel rooms are the anchor for future predictions," Schwer said. "We're going to have 175,000 hotel rooms. You don't understand the magnitude of 175,000 rooms. You could take the entire state of Wyoming, put them three to a room. We'd be able to feed them and they'd have extra towels." Clark County's tourism index remains high, with hotel occupancy above 90 percent. "That's phenomenal," he said. Schwer said we're living in rapidly changing times, which presents greater risks to his forecast than usual. "We see our major risks as housing and associated credit woes, missing opening dates for new properties, a national recession and unexpected events raising concern for safety in travel," he said. Current economic indicators present a "mixed picture," Schwer said. His best guess for a national recession is about 50-50, keeping in mind that the classic definition of a recession is four consecutive quarters of negative gross domestic product growth. The media and public will use two quarters of declining GDP, he said. Mike Majewski, economic development director for North Las Vegas, said Schwer is "extremely credible" with his numbers. From 1994 to 2007, the mean absolute percent error between Schwer's annual forecast and actual numbers was in the 1 percent to 3 percent range, except for housing units permitted, where he was off by 12.5 percent. "He actually reinforces what I thought," Majewski said of Schwer's outlook. "We're still creating jobs, not just casino jobs, but every sector. We've got manufacturing jobs, more medical jobs with the V.A. and other hospitals, a lot more retail coming in, so I do see the economy still going strong, just not as strong as in the past." The bright spot in travel for 2008 is the international market, Schwer said. A falling U.S. dollar makes Las Vegas more affordable." It's now cheaper for someone to come from Paris to Las Vegas to spend their money," he said. Travel and tourism will have another good year, though growth rates will remain small, a reflection of room capacity constraints. Expansion in 2009 will trigger better growth opportunities. Job and population growth will continue to weaken, largely a result of a weaker national economy. "Most importantly, we do not forecast a recession, believing that weak performance is the more likely scenario," Schwer said.
