When I grow up I want to be a ?

Isn't life funny when we look back on our younger days and observe the stages life has brought us through? As if I were in a theater where my performances took place, and step by step the platforms changed.

I was a young unruley haired girl full of pie in the sky aspirations and dreams. Every now and then it's refreshing to visit all the significant changes that occured, and the stages I would go through that eventually shaped who I am and where I was going.

The "I can't wait to grow up and be a Movie Star! Or is it an Airline Stewardess? Maybe a Hairdresser who gets to play with hair and make up! Yea that will be so much fun!" I think I had a new aspiration for each new season! The one thing I knew I wanted and the part of me that would never change would be to have FUN! My heart had to be in my choice or it wasn't going to happen and I was never going to be NEGATIVE like the grown ups! Yep I was always a dreamer who fondly recalls Girly gushes of excitement, sadness, or even disappointment that would happen, yet with each cycle of change I found myself reshaping and growing... it's called life.

The childlike eyes that would find a speck of light that would be a big enough window to let my imagination roam and find something to do, or create. It's like watching my grandchildren who look for something to play with and the "let's pretend game" with our imaginations and acting skills come alive.

Guess what? After some HARD KNOCKS that little girl can loose much of her pie in the sky optomism and her outlook can change into one of "You got to be kidding me!" The glass is half empty!

Thats the alarm buzzing, yet we can get all caught up in hitting snooze button and staying in that negative stupor!

Time to regroup. Time to find that speck of light in the window that is still there! Time to have the fun you forgot to have! Time to be creative and positive!

Fast Forward.......

I miss my active rain friends and taking my travel classes has been such an exciting adventure for me that I just don't know how I can decribe the joy I truly feel other than to say I feel like a kid again! A new adventure and a new horizon!

I am a creative person who needs to create or see God's creation. Either way that's when I felt the most productive and happy.

I wanted to touch base with my friends on active rain and write a short blog letting you all know that I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, and I'll be popping in a bit more frequent after my finals for my travel agent position.

Did you ever just want it all? Is it possible to have two true loves? I feel like I prayed for and recieved a heavenly bonanza. You see, a not so secret passion of mine is to see the world and travel. I love Real Estate, but I have wanted to explore travel agent classes with a local company who have small classes (about twenty people) once a year and they fill up quickly.

For several months I gave a lot of thought about climbing on board to learn the travel business. I love real estate, but I also find travel irresistible. I wanted to put to practical use both of my passions, and I was selected to begin classes with Travelocity on this past Monday. I was so excited that they called me during my trip to Bermuda, that I barley had time to unpack write a quick blog on Bermuda and start my classes.

My Active Rain time will be shortened during the next ten weeks while my free time will be spent going over notes and taking weekly tests. I feel that I will have made one more accomplishment in this short life of no perpetuity. I get to keep my two area's of interest (Real Estate and Travel, and learn from both. Who says I have to stay locked away from one?

I remember good ol Zig Ziglar says Almost is No Fun. "There is no commission on the almost sale you make, no fun on the trips you almost take, and no security or joy in the promotion you almost get. There is no thrill in "almost" doing anything in the game of life. The thrill comes from the accomplishment."

So for now I am looking to accomplish two very precious persuits, and will be embracing them both, and go for the brass ring. It's like I was handed to cute puppies from heaven and get to cuddle them both! Travel and Real Estate oh My!

Bermuda, Real Estate for the Affluent

~ Bermuda ~

From a sparkling sea distance you could see the limestone roof tops peeking in splashes of hodgepodge ownerships. A large pink coral reef rests lazily on the ocean floor, making the pink sands of the Bermuda beaches a legendary wonder.

We passed some private Island mansions where the exceptionally affluent people purchased the well sought after and rare opportunity to own a piece of this Atlantic dreamland. The inventor of the floppy disc asked for the cruise ships to beep as we go by. The loud beep of the ship obliges.

Nearing the port I could hear the Town Crier who I soon spotted in his English duds announcing from the shore the arrival of the Empress of The Seas. I will save a story of my cruise ship experience for a latter blog, for now I would like to say "Oh the Island!" Did I just mention how sought after by the worlds wealthy this English splendor that was hoisted from the sea is? Can I truly pen the beauty?

Quaint little pastel villages are nestled between narrow (did I say narrow?) roads, and as I walk through the town of Hamilton the tropical smell of the rain-forest is dancing in the air, and during the gentle breeze you catch the heavenly scents.

Hamilton was rich in friendliness, more so than any place I have ever visited.

Their manners where impeccable, and I observed the casual courtesies as something that flowed effortlessly and quite natural.

The store fronts in Hamilton Bermuda's capital nearly all close around 3:00pm or 3:30pm. It makes no difference that a ship of two thousand possible customers may arrive at 3:30pm. In one instance a shop owner closed down to-feed her cat. Yep, that's how laid back and out of the American rat race they are. All shops are closed on Sunday.

Now for the exquisiteness of the Island tagged the Jewel of the Atlantic. You aren't going to see colossal changes to a culture that has kept it's traditions in tact after all these years. Pastel homes grace the sides of narrow streets with much of the natural rain-forest flowers of red, pink, yellow and white buds peaking through the green foliage bordering in natural arrays untainted and perfectly planted by God.

Charlie and I naturally wanted to explore the Island just a bit before we rested on the pink sand of Horseshoe Bay. The gentle waves felt almost like they were being as courteous to you as the town folks! A crystal clear wave lifts you ever so tenderly and soft ocean breeze choirs with a shore splash. Caves for the curious are housed along the curves of the beach.

What does a Realtor do in Bermuda? Meet a Realtor E. Leroy Douglas with W.J. Seymour Real Estate LTD. who is the father of the Assistant Attorney General of Bermuda of course! The interesting facets of Real Estate was taught to me by a expert Realtor who's welcoming spirit generously lend me time for a crash course. From him I learned that eighty percent of Bermuda property is owned by Bermudians and could only be sold to the Bermudians.

Non Bermudians can only purchase properties from non Bermudian's and pay 22% sales tax. I mentioned how rare the availability is, as well as the financially elite who are gifted with a unique opportunity. In fact to be on this Island for more than 72 hours you may have a brush with the law. You are now considered an illegal.

Pictured above is the old Naval Base oh a few hundred years or so that is now the Mall in Bermuda. Don't you love how they maintained the old in lue of building new?

There is so much history and culture to share. An Island like no other, sophisticated yet charming. Friendly, and layed back, yet traditional in so many ways. An Island that will be visited in our memories forever. But for now Charlie and I bid Bermuda farewell as we cruise away to Philadelphia, and back to Reality.

Bermuda Here I Come

Meet the Empress of the Seas. She will be Charlie's (husband) and I companion for the next week! We set sail on Saturday and are heading to the lovely Island of Bermuda! My first cruise, and I am so excited!

Isn't it funny how we as humans get so excited over experiencing something for the first time! The goosebumps of anticipation on your first day of school.

Soon enough you made a whole new class room of friends and adventures of a lifetime begin to unfold as you live your childhood through the eyes of many first times.

My cheer-leading try outs, the ecstatic joy that I felt when I was picked. Teenage years come and go, and before you know it......

The look of wonder as you stare down at your first child. Now a life of many of their first times begin to make huge impressions on you! Oh look they smiled! Here comes their first tooth! Their first word, Their first step...

I still feel like a child when I experience some of my adventures throughout life. I read somewhere that happiness is not pleasure-----it is victory. Unlike my cruise life sure is a never ending journey, only with some days having a little more of a surprise than others.

I will be out of the Rain for a week, and miss you all very much. Your task is to be happy!

Disruption~Keeping the Harmony

Today at at least three different times I started to write my blog. Hours have past, and I'm finally able to resume my writing, which now leads to a whole new topic than the one I originally planned. In fact I vaguely recall what my first blog topic was. You see thats how I blog. An inspiration at a given moment and a blog is born.

I used to be the type of person who just could not stand interruptions. You could be in the middle of needing to seriously concentrate and WAM something happens, and we are faced with usually another persons problem, or someone needs you for something.

Nothing can be a joy robber more than life's disruptions. Nothing can point out just how well you really have the golden rule established in your life, then when you are called on God's carpet but it's on someone else's clock. Oh sure I absolutely love being able to help others, and the whole do unto others motto is great when I get to pick the when where's and how's.

My first attempt at this blog was put on hold. My granddaughter has swimming class, could I help out with my other granddaughter and babysit while Gabby gets to class. In the back of my mind a few things occurred. I'll get back to finishing what I was doing a little later, I can't wait to see my grandchildren I thought.

Second attempt was when a half a ton of wood was dumped in my front yard for my son and his family. Pa winters have proven to be brutal at times and wood burners need wood. A very kind gift disposed itself on my front lawn, and I was redirected to load my sons firewood, and deliver it with a 20 minute ride, and about another hour to unload the truck.

By about now the person who is driving slow in front of me is teaching me how to harness my impatience, and suddenly I am aware of how inconvenient this day is turning out to be. Again I am suddenly aware of how a bunch of negative attitudes can easily cost us freedom to receive the blessing of doing unto others.

Attitudes, they help or hinder a blessing. Like Zig Ziglar says Sometimes you need a "Check Up" from the Neck Up" to elimanate "Stinkin Thinkin" and AVOID "Hardening of the Attitudes."

First I would like to say that I am so overjoyed to be the Administrator of Spiritual Rain offered to me by TLW. I thoroughly enjoy inspiring posts that see a principal of God's Law at work and the benefits of those that adhere.

The purpose for this group was designed to write about Living by the golden rule, and how that has affected your life. The group can not or does not replace Christianity and Real Estate, Inspiration, Positive Attitude for the Weary Soul, and many other inspiring groups here on the Rain.

It is my hope to see many members join and share encouraging events that have made Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, an uplifting and heartwarming benefit to all of our members.

Buyers Agency Agreement's Help you of Hurt you?

This blog is inspired by Randy Prothero's blog titled A good case for buyers agency agreements. Now I know there are some who insist on having these agreements pre-signed before they take up with any buyers, however if I did that in my market I would have no one to work with.

The buyers of Luzerne County are not someone who can easily be swayed into signing anything much less a contract that will make you the beneficiary of their house purchase commission.

That is the local mentality and it's the proverbial hard nut to crack. It's like handing someone a prenup, that says trust ME while I look out for ME. Can this be a self inflicting sabotage on your relationship?

I have learned that in my market folks need to be comfortable with their business relationship first before they sign anything. Once you have them comfortable their loyalty is pretty much guaranteed. I said pretty much. Yes there will be those that burn you, but had I held out a contract initially I would not have the successful relationships established.

There are a few things I have done to protect myself from those who are time wasters and Realtor hoppers. In Randy's case his client was lost to an Open House. Getting people to use my sign in sheet is a constant effort and unless they do, they WILL NOT VIEW THE PROPERTY. Believe it or not there have been some folks who have refused to sign in! I have bluntly told them, you are waisting both of our time, and off they went.

When I conduct my open house I have a Sign In Sheet that will ask specifically if you are working with an agent. If they have an agent, I will happily answer all their questions, show them the property, and tell them to HAVE THEIR AGENT CALL ME period.No other real estate questions are asked on my end, like are you prequalified, did you sign a broker agreement ect...

I was recently at a Rich Dad Poor Dad seminar, and through out the meeting the speaker would say The Early Bird Catches the Worm....

Web Site owners this means YOU! When I get a response to my web site I WAIST NO TIME. Call the number, e-mail back promptly, do not wait! I could guarantee that they have several other web site owners e-mailed and usually the one who responds first gets the deal.

This is how I know if they are jerking me around, when I ask how soon they would like to start viewing properties and they respond ASAP, I know I'm in the running...

My web site usually takes the worry of are they prequalified off my hands, and they typically have that information out of the way and have the prequalification in order, so I want to jump right in and show properties and build the relationship.

The Consumer Notice is the first paper they sign and that is with me reasuring them that it is NOT A CONTRACT.... I could tell by the body movements, the facial expressions, the down right soon to loose interest in you, if I persisit with a Buyer's Agency Agreement.

So for my Real Estate practice, I go by my gut instinct and know when to not loose a client. After a few visits in their company, I think it is a comfortable time to bring up the contract and know by now how well the two of us can work together.

Fall Means Having Fun Playing in The Yard

Halloween decorating can be so much fun when the greatest reward is the look on the grandchildren's faces when they come to visit grammas house. Yesterday I had a fun day of creating a cute front yard with last minute ideas, and spontaneity.

My wreath was changed a week ago, and with Fall in the air I could not wait to get started! There is something about those road side farm shacks that make decorating for Fall all the more adventurous.

Tall corn stocks, pumpkins, jugs of home made cider, bushels of apples, bundles of hay, mums everywhere, and oh the crafts! I just love the roadside markets this time of year! It's just as much fun as visiting that tree farm at Christmas.

Well my shopping trip left me all cramped up in the car on my drive home, with my huge corn stocks hanging from my passenger window resting cati corner in the back seat. My giddy heart gets to thinking of how I will display my car full of treasures.

Home at last! Now for an afternoon of playing in my front yard!

A porch isn't a porch without a corn stock greeting in the Fall

How could you have a corn stock and not have scare crows?

And you need your side walks lit with pumpkin lights!

A little bit of spider web bushes looks like fun!

Every yard needs a Great Pumpkin right?

Home Sweet Home Not For Sale

I just love the days when my kids come over my house with the grandchildren and the house becomes alive. When I am home alone my morning companions are birds that chirp outside my office window, making the only living voice to be heard unless Sinbad is barking at the mailman.

When I hear little feet that putter from room to room, I smile with anticipation knowing that any minute they will burst through my office door with arms spread wide for a big ol hug. Which blond hair blue eyed granddaughter Bailey, Gabby, and Jules Ann, or my blonde hair brown eyes grandson Noah? One thing is sure my quiet morning with the birds is no more.

I love my family room. Sponge Bob Square Pants takes over the TV, and toys that were neatly packed away are drug out again for an official play time at grammas.

I love my sunny back yard, with a play area for the grandchildren and a huge pool that held lots of giggles and splashes for many summers.

I love the kitchen where the cookie jar is visited frequently.

I love the bath tub that had heaps of bubbles in the tub during a sleep over.

I love the country candles that I burn filling the house with the aroma of apples and pumpkins this time of year.

Oh and there is my husband's recliner, with his football remote holder hanging lazily over the arm.

These are the times that my home becomes one big mental scrap book. The priceless times spent with family and friends. Sellers do I understand your emotional attachment to your home? You bet I do! Still the reality is,

You can't sell Home Sweet Home on a market that doesn't wear your memories...

Agents who Do Not Belong To Your Local Association

I had 11 properties to view with an out of town client yesterday. My client was running an hour late, so naturally when there are 11 houses to view your timing is going to be off. Most realtors know that viewing properties all day is nearly impossible to predetermine exact times.

When my client arrived late she apologised and explained that even her cell phone had no reception therefore she could not call. I have built a great relationship with her and know that it is not like her to simply forget or cancel on short notice, so I started phoning agents explaining that we are running late.

One agent was very rude and wanted an exact time because she had to drive from Scranton to the Back Mountain to let us in. (About a 25 minute ride) This is when I get a little perturbed with agents that are not from Luzerne County, who will not pay dues for our lock boxes, and expect us to cater to them!

If I had family or friends in a different county I would do them a favor and NOT list their property if I wasn't going to belong to the area MLS. Maybe thats wrong but that is the way I feel. Why service something that is out of my county, and complain every time a local agent calls to see the house?

When my client arrived and we began viewing properties and chatting up a storm with easy banter back and forth. I am a very down to earth kind of person with little tolerance for snobbery. My client and I hit it off at the get go and I believe I have made a friend for life.

When the time came to arrive at the Back Mountain appointment I made a call to the agent approximately 25 minutes in advance. She was in the middle of lunch! I could hear her "huh breathed heavily" then she was impatiently telling me she'll be there in 25 minutes! Click....

Robin (my client) who is so very happy and go-lucky felt bad about running late, and I didn't want to burden her with this ignorant agent selling property in Luzerne County and won't get a lock box, and felt a bit put out. We talked instead about all the great properties she seen so far, and 3 of them were really impressive and are on her list of maybe's.

Well when we arrived at the property, Mrs Snob Agent pulls up introducing herself with a big old phony smile to my client (completely ignores me) and begins to describe the property. (OVERPRICED I might add) The house and the Agent made no impression on my client, and she laughed at the agents snobbishness that the agent must think is professionalism. She had no idea what had transpired between me and the snob, yet she picked up on her fake friendliness right away. You aren't kidding anyone but yourself.

For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think himself more highly than he ought (not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance), but to rate his ability with sober judgement,... Romans 12:3

If you are not a member of the local association where the property is located, and don't want to be inconvenienced, why do you take the listing?

100th post How Active Rain Changed My Business

One hundredth post after four months of Active Rain. This is how it has changed my business.

Because of Tracy Calabasas I now hand out pop corn bags with my business cards attached at open houses. Thanks for popping by is my new line that goes over quite well. Plus it is an ice breaker

Because of Randy Prothero I now drive with car magnets advertising my Real estate business. I have been stopped at grocery stores and asked about market conditions, as well as being acknowledged as a Coldwell Banker agent.

Because of broker Bryant I now have a new expired letterI send out to my market. Ironically enough, Broker Bryant's expired letter was his 100th post too!

Because of Lonn Dugan I now have a new Killer FSO letter I use.

Because of Active Rain I received a re-feral from Chris Benedict ! I will be working on a land deal, than you Chris!

Because of Active Rain, I found support while contemplating moving to a new Brokerage.

Because of Active Rain, I was Me' Med

Because of Active Rain two of my blogs have been featured in Localism.

Because of Active Rain I have met very successful people who truly realize the benifit of passing things forward. I have made friends throughout the United States and Canada, who are truly inspiring dedicated professionals, Who take time out of their busy day to wish me Happy Birthday! Thank you Midori!

Only four months and so much has changed in so little time!

Messy Tenants in Luzerne County

The house stunk of a musty smell of dog, dirt, and filth. Each room was decorated in an autistic 8 year old's wall scribble. Even the furniture was scribbled on! I never saw anything like it!

Room after harrowing room I was left to wonder how can someone live like this? Absolutely no respect for their landlords property.

While I realize autism has to be a challenge when raising a child who has been diagnosed with it, surly that does not justify destroying someones property!

This young boy was ill mannered and that too was left uncorrected. The boy deliberately blocked a path (yes thats basically how you got through from room to room) Piles of dirty cloths, toys, and even garbage were tauntingly laying everywhere!

Do people even realize that this horrible living conditions can be construed as neglect?

I don't think that there is an excuse for this kind of behaviour.

The mother practically bragged about her sons drawings all over the place! And the mess, well that was her autistic son's fault too!

Needless to say my buyers were not interested in this property.

Landlord's do you know how your tenants live?

Do you wonder why offers aren't pooring in?

My Birthday Reflections

50 years has taught me all about time wasters. Worry has been my biggest. If I could have back a day and fill it with joy instead of pent up worry I would have rich reflections in deed.

Let me see the joy and opportunity that surrounds me each gifted day.

50 years has shown me the simple things like pretending to be a mom and playing with dolls becomes a gifted reality in no time at all.

Just yesterday they were dolls. In a world of make believe.

50 years has shown me the man I would marry. My husband today is the man I dreamed about years ago.I must have made a subconscious list of qualities I was searching for in a mate. It probably read something like this. Someone who was intelligent. Someone who was supportive. Someone who would bare my moods. Some one who would reflect the wise choice I made now at age 50.

50 years has shown me the face of my mother in her golden years.

50 years has shown me how to leave behind an extrememely negative mind. I no longer get discouraged in myself. I am no longer addicted to fault finding and complaining. Inow expect miracles and good things in my life.

Occupied With Uncooperative Tenants

Nothing is more frustrating than working with investment properties that are occupied with uncooperative tenants! Today I met with an out of town buyer and was scheduled to view 7 properties. Each of these homes where confirmed with the listing agents well in advance who notified all of the tenants respectively.

Of the seven properties we were able to get into five. Thats right, two other properties would not let us in! In one instance we could hear the music playing, children talking, and no one would answer the door!

This is so frustrating for an out of town buyer who drove 3 hours from New York to look at investment properties!

It's frustrating for the listing agents! What chance do they have to sell a home that you can't get in to see!

It's frustrating for the buyers agent, who planned in advance, mapped out the route, and wanted to give their clients access to the inventory!. Isn't that why they pick a buyers agent?

Owners this hurts you. How tenants cooperate will ultimately determine what kind of offer you get, if any.

Right away my clients are thinking "they don't want to purchase your problem". Tenants that will not cooperate during the sale of your property can cost you dearly.

Any kind of deal sweetener's going on? Are agents advising the property owners to knock a little $$ off the rent? Having a house you live in being put on display can be an inconvenience and stressful.

Giving your tenants 24hr notice is something I can appreciate and respect.

Unfortunately, the disrespect for the future buyers and agents can keep your property on the market for a long time.

Did you do a thorough background check on your tenants? This could also affect the sale!

Are you just collecting the rent money and not maintaining the property?

Sometimes that alone reciprocates respect from your tenants towards all the parties concerned during the sale of your property.

Are inspections every 6 months or a year, a part of your lease?

This should be a business plan right? Like any well oiled business, the value it's worth could be found in the service that was provided.

All too often Realtors are called in the middle of some not so pleasant relationships with tenants and landlords. Bad tenants, well they can cumbersome. Sometimes being vacant is the easiest sale, even though banks prefer borrowers to have established tenants supplying an income on the investment .

Real Estate and Zucchini Bread

Today I had an out of town buyer cancel, shrugging my shoulders while hanging up the phone I glanced at the zucchini sitting on my counter and said to myself start grating. During my grating I had a burst of inspiration to share my bread with a client who really needs to sell her house. Satisfied I threw all of the ingredients together popped it into the oven and an hour later I was off to visit my client.

Off on the Cross Valley I went with warm zucchini bread wrapped snuggly in foil, and the smell of cinnamon and raisins were a distinctive aroma flooding my vehicle, and I braved a snap shot (Sarah Cooper Style) while driving to my destination.

Prep Time 15 Minutes

Cook Time 1 Hour

Arriving at my clients, with warm zucchini bread, and their file in hand I was greeted with a warm smile.

I reviewed my marketing campaign results, letting them know every measure I have taken thus far to promote the sale of their property

• Internet Exposure (Blogs, Web Sites, Craigslist, Flex, ect)

• Email Inquires (Had copies of all inquires, and my responses)

• News Paper Ads (Gave them copies of ads)

• Showings, Discussed each showing in detail. Prospective buyers over all opinion of the property. (In this case they loved the house, not the location. I explained that we are going to appeal to the right buyer, who actually reads the advertising. I advertised the exact location so why it comes as a surprise one will never know.) But thats a different blog

• Emphasized the price is right, assuring them that the right buyer will come along.

I also discussed my next plan of action.

Which in this case will be distributing flyers to a local hospital that is near by.

Nothing like being able to sleep in a little longer if you live close to work!

The house will be listed in our Homes Magazine this week.

We shared some laughs, and they are reassured that I am working diligently to sell their home. Plus I get to feel good giving and going that extra mile. I hope they enjoy the home made zucchini bread~

Sharing my Pennsylvania Sun Sets

The beauty is there if we only take a moment to look up and see. Breathtaking hues of orange and purple intensely lighting up the sky.

The Fall sunsets in Pennsylvania are so beautiful! It's almost like the color choices from God's paint brush that will soon extend to the land splashing brilliant Fall foliage.

I stared in wonder just last night thinking how many of these amazing skies have I missed! How could such breathtaking beauty be dressing the sky and I simply didn't bother to look!

I think of my grandchildren who color a picture and stand proudly showing me their piece of art. "Oh that is so beautiful!" I gush. I proudly display their drawings on my refrigerator, and to them that just made a top exhibition.

Yet here is God showing me a masterpiece. A perfect ending to an extra day that was a gift. An amazing hand that stretched the Heavens and dressed it up each night just for me.

Luzerne County sunsets are spectacular! Look up and be in awe! A smile from heaven it seems! Some days can be so full of frustrations, deadlines, and time crunchers. For a perfect ending to a fruitful day take,

Craigslist Update

I am so spoiled with quiet mornings.

I am an early riser with Sinbad at my heels. My morning first awe time is sipping a fresh brewed cup of coffee. The house is quiet, Sinbad still looks sleepy but he is so devoted to my every move. I reach for my favorite mug, and pour the coffee. Everybody surly has a favorite mug right?

Slowly I make it down to my office and begin checking my e-mail.

By now I can gather my thoughts and am fully prepared to spring into action. I have a game plan and my day begins.

Today I had to double check my e-mail just to be sure if I was really seeing what I was reading. I just wrote a blog Craigslist is it Worth It? My morning e-mail gave me an about face! Someone legitimately e-mailed me and asked for more information on my listing, which I was only too happy to give! Yep, a legitimate e-mail!

Sheesh, I feel kinda silly now.

Cirque dul Soleil in Wilkes Barre Pa

This week on one of my adventures I was treated by my son and daughter in law for a night of mesmerizing entertainment at the Wilkes Barre Arena.

Cirque du Soleil was my very first opera, slash, trapeze act,(I'm not talking Ringling Brothers) slash, French circus.

In a word UNBELIEVABLE.

At 7:30 sharp the lights dimmed and the act began. The spellbinding theatrical delight kept me in awe for a full two hours. The costumes where magnificent!

The performers where amazing, from climbing poles on what looked like there tippy toes and fingertips, to comedic acts with audience participation, to trapeze acts that honestly made me close my eyes for fear of them falling! I truly never saw anything like it!

The name in French means "Circus of the sun". No animal acts just amazing strength of gymnastics, and human bodies that I never knew could be that flexible. This group was founded by French Canadian street performers, and it will truly leave you speechless!

The next time their in town be sure to pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Live Like You Where Dying

Today there is a little boy in heaven who touched my life but never knew that while he was passing through this land as a pilgrim. This is why. When my daughter was in nursing school and working part time at a children's hospital she came home crying.

"Mom, I don't think I can do this!" she sobbed. I asked her very calmly to explain what was so upsetting. She told me that she was taking care of a six year old boy who has cancer, "but mom this is what happened" she continued....

She went on to tell me the story of a little boy...

Throughout the day we played a few games, and colored. He doesn't have very long to live and it was just so sad. While we were coloring his little face beamed up and he asked me if I was ever at Disney Land. He proceeded to tell me that his parents are taking him as soon as he is released. Then he asked me If I was ever to Heaven. "Mommy and daddy said after Disney I get to go to Heaven!"

Needless to say I wasn't able to offer her much support, and the two of us sat and cried at the kitchen table.

Now that I am in my latter 40's life has begun to take on a whole new meaning. I look back reflectively at all those serious moments in life when things needed to be perfect. I was a fanatic for keeping a clean and perfect house. The flower beds needed to be groomed regularly. On and on my list of perfection went. I was married at a young age with a lot of responsibility that I took quite seriously. The little girl inside me was tucked away somewhere ...

Now it seems she wants to come back for some adventurous child play.

Do fun and exciting things! Stop all the monotony! Learn new things, go to exciting places!

Is this a mid life crisis I asked myself?Then I remember that little boy who is in Heaven.

I recently posted a listing (my first) on Craigslist . After all my client deserves all the listing exposure I can give them, so what the heck place the ad right?

Last night I received an e-mail from someone who claims to want to make an offer.

Following their link took me to a merry-go-round of surveys to fill out. Hmmmm. According to their e-mail THEY didn't have time to stay on the computer, yet they think every one else does and want you to take a survey! Naturally I couldn't waist my time with such nonsense.

What kind of hoaxers respond to Craigs List?

Does it work? Has any one actually sold a home as a result of placing a listing there?

Hi, I just saw your home listed on craigslist and want to make an offer. I'd like to get more information though, im looking at alot of places in the area so I don't have much time to stay on the computer. If you could, please go to my website http://we-buy-homes.net/ and fill out the page. It'll be sent to my cellphone so I can look at it right away. Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you.

I guess it got my dander up, and I responded in kind:

For someone who doesn't spend time on computers you sure think I do. I don't have time to take a survey, I am a professional offering to sell a clients property. If you are seriously interested call and make an appointment.

Luzerne County Everyday Hero's

Our Citizen's Voice on line has a heart warming section of everyday hero's in Luzerne County. I stumbled on this find ironically when I was going to write a blog about The Citizens Voice.

You see a perfect stranger knocked on my door during a very difficult time in my family's life.

This stranger wanted a story.

This stranger had the look of compassion in his eyes, and tactfully wanted to help find the hit and run driver who killed my sister.

This stranger somehow didn't feel strange to us at all. Instead he felt like he wanted to do something, anything, and bring us the answers we so desperately needed.

We all looked a mess, crying, distraught, and dazed. But somehow we knew a good Samaritan was in our dining room watching us solemnly compile a collage for my sister's pending funeral. I knew he felt compassion for us. I knew it wasn't just a story from a reporter simply there to do a job. No it was more than that.

Imagine as Realtors the challenges we face working with people who need to sell their homes as a result of death, or divorce, or foreclosure. Those are not happy times at all. Oh that they would see Realtors, as I seen Bob Kalonowski that day as the good Samaritan.

Through Bob Kalanowski's article, a killer was caught. He will be a family hero to us, not just a reporter who did his job.

As a realtor it is my goal to be like Bob, and not just sell your house.
