fountain city: not in my back yard? that's what I used to think! - 08/21/08 05:42 PM
Yesterday was a terrrible day in Fountain City near Knoxville, TN. A shooting took place in our local high school less than 1/2 mile from my house. A young man Jamar Siler walked into the commons area and shot Ryan McDonald in the chest with a 22 caliber handgun. Around 10:20 a.m. Ryan was pronounced death at UT medical center. Things things usually happen in other areas. Just several weeks ago a man walked into a church here in Knoxville and shot several people there and now this. These things always always bring about questions of why? Please keep our community in … (1 comments)

fountain city: $3.00 gas, $5.00 milk and the buyer's/seller's right to operate in this market without paying a fee - 09/22/07 01:16 PM

Recently, I went to the store and bought a $5.00 dollar gallon of milk and then went out and filled up my SUV with $3.00 dollar per gallon gas all the while thinking that it was highway robbery. I thought for a moment, that I could milk my own cow or even ride a bicycle for alot less money.... I got to thinking about how the good ole days were when my wife and I were spending $30.00 per week for groceries and when we bought a house for 8.5% interest in the mid 1990's then 8 years later the house sold … (7 comments)

fountain city: a five part business life strategy I live by - 09/11/07 01:26 PM

First things first, I question self made people. I know that what it is like to hit rock bottom. I also know it took alot of faith, people and friends to get me to the place I am today. I like to find out who makes an individual. Many people have a maker that they have chosen … (0 comments)

fountain city: Paint's healthy alternative- Low or no VOC's - 08/30/07 02:15 PM

There is a nasty little secret about many household products including paints. Most paints have volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects.
BUT, I have good news many paint companies offer a no voc or low voc product. In the paint business, we continue to move away from alkyd or oil based products because they are full of solvents and VOCs and basically are unhealthy. The alternative is to use latex products. Now, many companies have formulated low VOCs … (1 comments)

fountain city: Painting your home - 08/09/07 03:38 PM
As I begin to transition into Real Estate, I must work a job to pay the bills until I am established. I spend about ten and a half hours per day working in a paint store in Knoxville, TN. I am in a designer/retail/higher end clientel store where many people come into the store fretting over colors. We offer several options to these type people whether they are building a new home, remodeling, repainting. First of all, new construction clients who are getting custom homes are the most likely the one's who are stressing about matching colors to their personal taste. … (4 comments)
