Recently, I began thinking about how slow things can be sometimes... I remember the good ole days when folks were lining up to buy houses even if they couldn't afford them. I ponder sipping lemonade on front porches of those with new keys to their very own homes on a more regular basis. I remember speeding across town with an offer to beat out six other contracts on the table for the perfect home for my buyers...... Wow, what a weekend. Ohana has had a eventful couple of days including a lock-in, Fall Festival and a concert. I was so proud of many of our students this weekend. Friday night's lock-in allowed us to have a time of fellowship and fun while we set-up the Fall Festival. What can you say about Saturday? All day we had a group of students and adults preparing for out 3:30 start time to our fall festival. At first, we were a little concerned about people showing up. Attention Fountain City Residents...... This Saturday October 13, 2007 @ 3 p.m. we will have a small carnival with face painting, coloring, games and other activities for the kids. At 5:30 p.m. we will serve the cook off chili. We have already got several award winning chili cooks in the mix. If you think you can beat them, bring your best batch and see. It is all in good fun. There is a nasty little secret about many household products including paints. Most paints have volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. BUT, I have good news many paint companies offer a no voc or low voc product. In the paint business, we continue to move away from alkyd or oil based products because they are full of solvents and VOCs and basically are unhealthy. The alternative is to use latex products.
