If you're like me and you enjoy giving a bit of yourself in order to help others, you might want to consider donating blood in Broward County. I first started donating in Tallahassee more than 7 years ago through Southeastern Community Blood Center and, since moving to South Florida 4 years ago, have continued by donating through Community Blood Centers of South Florida. If you've considered it, but are hesitant, there's really no need to be.  It only takes ~30 minutes and every little bit goes a long way toward saving lives.

Recently, Danielle Knox Ross, invited me, along with some Girlfriends, to attend the launch of her Natural Bath and Beauty Care Product Line, Play Pretty Beauty.  The launch event was held Friday at the Ft. Lauderdale GBS store.

Support Home Ownership for All Specialty License Plate - 10/16/07 12:18 PM
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles just released a new Speciality License plate, "Support Home Ownership For All", and I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago (I ordered it personalized though, so it will take a couple of months for it to arrive).  See info below from the Florida Statutes about proceeds from purchases of the plate:

Along with my other volunteer activities, I recently became a Broward County Schools Volunteer.  I had been thinking about it for a while, but hadn't yet decided how and when I was going to fit it in.  Anyway, I figured it out and I'm enjoying it.

You may remember from one of my earlier Blogs that I've been a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters since 1997.   My local office is Big Brothers Big Sisters Broward and our national office is Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.  If you're not familiar with Big Brothers Big Sisters, it's the largest and oldest (100 years) Mentoring Organization in the U.S. We're also International now.
The Deja Vu Ball is held annually in Broward County and honors Community Leaders and Child Advocates in Broward County.  This year's event will be a musical celebration of the 50's - 80's.

J. Mark's Restaurant in Pompano Beach - 10/03/07 03:07 PM
I had the pleasure of eating Lunch at J. Mark's Restaurant in Pompano Beach yesterday.  I had a great Breaded Chicken Salad with yummy Honey Mustard Dressing.  J. Mark's opened around 4 months ago and I'd been intending to go for a while.  Anyway, now that I've tried it out, I'll DEFINITELY be going back again.   I love the food, the service, and the ambiance.  J.
