Starting My Day With A Concussion - 11/27/07 10:10 PM
Every morning I get up at 4:30 to 5:00 am. Part of my morning routine is animal care. What I am saying is that I have dogs to take potty. One of my family charges is a boxer that is 1.5 years old. He is big and rowdy. He loves to run around the back yard and when he is ready to come in bounces off the back door. I have been trying to break him of this annoying bad habbit before he breaks the back door. This morning I thought I would stop him before he hit the door. I

I Had A Great Day - 11/22/07 08:52 PM
I met some nice people from Colorado this morning at the office. I have been corresponding with them for weeks. They want a private location with a nice house. They are cash buyers. We looked at half a dozen houses and we did a couple of drive bys. The weather was dreary and chilly. The leaves are looking shabby so our landscape is not looking its best. These people are serious buyers. They are trying to make a final decision about where they want to be whether it is Tennessee, West Virginia, or Kentucky. We are meeting again tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers that

Thanksgiving Is A Great Day To Work - 11/21/07 09:11 PM
On Good Morning America there was a piece about Thanksgiving. It covered all the food that the average Americans will be eating tomorrow. It accumulates to about 5000 calories for the day. That is unbelievable but probably true when you count up the appetisers, main course, and desert. While most of America is eating and watching football I will be saying my thanks that I will be showing property. Holidays are great. Three years ago on Thanksgiving I sold two houses. If I could only have an encore. I would rather be showing property than cooking and doing kitchen duty.

There is a Nasty Bug Going Around The Office - 11/19/07 09:36 PM
There has been a nasty "bug" going around the office. It stuffs your head up and gives you an aggervating headache. It zaps your energy and leaves you achy and weak. When it gets dark your head closes up and you can't breathe leaving you in for a restless night so you wake up feeling worse than you did before you went to bed. I don't think that this has a name other than winter crude. This is a very busy time of year with lots of peopel comeing into town for the holiday. I can't take a day off for

Do You Know The Difference Between Termites & Ants? - 11/15/07 07:45 PM
I attended a MLS class today about termites and wood infestation. It was extremely interesting even for a veteran from Orkin pest control thirty years ago. In East Tennessee we are going to encounter subterrian termites. Termites and flying ants are very similar. The most apparant difference is termites have a straight body and ants have a jointed body. Termites have 2 wings that are the same size and ants have 2 separate sized sets of wings. Termites have straight antennae while ants is bent. Termites wings will fall off while ants do not. Do not be duped by a termite

Veterans Day - Semper Fi - 11/11/07 08:49 PM
In 1975 I graduated Cumberland County High School. I caught the first bus out of town and joined the United States Marine Corps. I served four years. Two years in Norfolk, VA in the Classified Control Center. My last two years I was stationed at Parris Island on the drill field. I was in the second class of Women Marines to go through Drill Instructor School with the male Marines. The Marine Corps was a challenging life. Lots of hard work and followed by play. You grow up fast and learn values and responsibilities like no other experience. As I look back to

Does St. Joseph Really Work - 11/10/07 11:22 PM
I had never heard of burying a St Joesph statue before I became a Realtor. One of my listings told me that she knew that her house would sell quickly. I quizzed her as to what she was talking about. She explained that she had done this every time she decided to sell. She has a statue of St. Joseph and buries him in the lawn. Then she just sits back and waits for the house to sell. She had stories of her past houses selling in days. I must say that her house did sell quickly. The only problem

Proposed Cumberland Plateau National Heritage Corridor - 11/03/07 07:33 PM
PROPOSED CUMBERLAND PLATEAU NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR Every day more than 100,000 vehicles cross the plateau on one of three Interstates. Just off the those highways, there is more scenic public land than the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, with far greater public accessibility. There also exists a wealth of cultural and heritage assets that are of national significance... The National Heritage Corridor project is designed to enhance conservation of the region's natural, cultural and recreational assets while providing economic development for distressed rural counties through inceased nature and heritage based tourism... The Cumberland Plateau National Corridor will be locally managed; therefore,

Real Estate Is Alive And Well On The Plateau - 11/01/07 08:24 PM
I can't speak for other offices and agents in the area but I have been swamped. I am getting more and more calls. I have had appointments all day every day all week. As far as I am concerned real estate is alive and well on the Cumberland Plateau. Buyers are a little slower at committing to make a purchase. We are looking at more properties before we make a choice. The prices for our properties are not rising abnormally. We are staying at our little 6-10% per year that is typical of our area. The lower priced listings are getting the
