All Around Woodstock Spring is in the Air - 03/21/08 07:47 PM
Yesterday I was in the office saying how I just noticed the daffodils pushing up through the ground in my front yard and I couldn't wait for the smell and sight of the first beautiful glorious flowers to arrive. My clients arrived and I went out showing mostly commercial properties but they did want to see this one house in the Byrdcliffe area of Woodstock. We drove up to the house and went inside and decided to go out the side door to check out the gorgeous rock outcroppings and the stream and..... in the side garden there they were tons … (0 comments)

How do you put photos up? - 03/21/08 07:23 PM
I noticed on Localism photos were posted along the right side. Where and how do you put your local photos up? I couldn't find any info on the Frequently asked questions or the How to post to localism link. Sometimes I get a little lost on this site. I still don't understand the tags either! Any help would be appreciated.

Community Supported Agriculture - 03/19/08 09:00 PM
I received this from Catskill Native Nursery and want to make as many people aware of this terrific opportunity to invest in local agriculture
EAT LOCAL, EAT ORGANIC - CSA* PICKUP AT CATSKILL NATIVE NURSERY (*Does everyone know that CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture? I often just assume I'm preaching to the choir.) Last year we received a historic preservation grant from NYS to restore our 1840 English barn- and we're working on it. Actually, Ethan Zickler and the crew of Eden Design are working on it, but we're cheering them on from our warm house across the street.  We would … (0 comments)

FEB STATS FOR WOODSTOCK, NY - 03/16/08 07:58 PM
I thought it would be interesting to do stats for my small town of Woodstock, NY and it was. After looking at some of the other stats of the larger community Woodstock is really charming and sweet with only 6 sales which is why I also service most of Ulster County, NY. When doing these numbers I remebered why! I pulled these from the Ulster County MLS

Gashouse Gorillas - 03/16/08 10:28 AM
Woodstock, Colony of the Arts last night did not disappoint. We had Jeffrey Gaines at the Colony Cafe, Ars so long at the Kleinart and the Gashouse Gorillas at the Bearsville Theatre. I chose to go to the Bearsville Theatre. WOW! What a great band they had audience bobbing, tapping and out & out dancing. They played "Jump Blues" style of music which is definitely something they make their own. Crusher Carmean played a very cool self made aluminum stand up bass, Tim on sax, Hiro Suzuki on Guild guitar, Dan Hickey on drums and Rick Fink singing, shouting,  jumping and getting out … (0 comments)

Ulster County, NY Country Sophistication - 03/15/08 06:01 PM
Aside from Manhattan, Ulster County is the ONLY part of New York State which experienced appreciation in home prices in 2007. The luxury home market is largely responsible for this reciprocal relationship.  I recently became a member of The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing, in order to concentrate on this hugely successful niche market.  Westwood Metes & Bounds Ltd. is the only realty company in Ulster County to offer  the advantages of ILHM membership. Less than 1% of agents country wide can boast such an affiliation.

Woodstock, NY - 03/14/08 09:29 PM
Home to gorgeous mountains, fresh air, and some of the most beautiful real estate on earth!
Woodstock - known also as "the colony of the arts" combines small-town magic with the sophistication of the city. We have NYC caliber restaurants, Byrdcliffe and Overlook mountain in our backyard. Woodstock is rich in history and cultural heritage, still apparent in its world-class arts life and historic homes. Back in the nineteenth century, long before our present fame, the Woodstock area was known internationally as a center for American artists and craftspeople. Then in 1902 the famed Byrdcliffe arts and crafts colony was established, … (0 comments)

Everything Old - 03/13/08 11:05 PM
I love everything old and houses are no exception. I love the feeling when you pull up to an old house and the anticipation of what you are going to find inside (& out, don't get me started on the old gardens) The treasures always vary and almost never disappoint. For me the ones that have not been renovated are my favorites because I am crazy about the little rooms, nooks and crannies to discover, all the wear on the usually wide board floors, the multipane old runny glass windows, the drawer pulls and door knobs, of course the mouldings, I even … (4 comments)
