Mesquite NV Home Inspections - let the inspector do his job - 05/29/11 11:59 PM
Mesquite NV Home Inspections - the Inspector will show you what the homeowner may not even know about his house. You may think you are pretty handy around the house, but you may not know about local code, recent local issues in a neighborhood, or even if a drain is clogged or just slow. Best to get a home inspection - it costs several hundred $$, but worth every dime. Residential Home inspections include running all of the appliances in the home, usually all at the same time, checking electrical outlets, air conditioning, fixtures - anything that the inspector can check (12 comments)

Sun City Mesquite 55 + Community has the best bocce ball court in Mesquite - one of the many activities offered to residents at their Pioneer Recreation Center. You can bring your own bocce balls or use one of the sets that the Rec Center provides for residents. I thought that Bocce was a game, but is considered a sport by those who play it. :) According to BocceBallRules.net - "Bocce is without a doubt one of the most exciting and enjoyable sports." I have not played it yet, myself, but I am certainly looking forward to my first game. I (6 comments)

Mesquite NV - Fruits and Vegetables Grow in the Desert Backyards - Hard to believe? - 05/23/11 11:56 PM
Mesquite NV - Fruits and Vegetables Grow in the Desert - One of my Mesquite MLS listings has a huge backyard, over 1/3 acre. In this small town, that is a very big lot. I had taken pictures of the lush landscaping and mature trees make this yard so inviting. Only recently did I actually walk back to the far corner of this custom home for sale - wow! Produce! Mesquite has it's own water - we are sitting on a huge aquifer, maybe the biggest in Nevada. The water is harsh to the skin, most homes have water softeners - (13 comments)
Custom Homes Mesquite NV - City Views over Falcon Ridge - Calais gated Community - 05/22/11 11:27 PM
Custom Homes in Mesquite - City and Mountain Views over Falcon Ridge from Calais gated golf course community - I took this picture very late in the afternoon, right before dusk. I take so many pictures of homes for sale, this time I turned my back to the gorgeous back patio and got this shot of one of the ponds. The nice thing about this beautiful water feature is that it is right on the golf course - you can enjoy it with no maintenance. The Falcon Ridge Golfcourse gets to do the work. Cool deal, right?

Mesquite Garage Door Service | Replace or Repair - John Barrett - the LOCAL guy - 05/19/11 07:39 PM
Mesquite NV Garage Door Local Service - One night, at about 4:00, we woke up abruptly because of a huge sonic boom that shook the whole house. Or so we thought. It was actually the spring on the garage door suddenly breaking. Scary loud. Once we figured out what the noise was, we were relieved until the next morning, when I realized that we could not even open the garage door manually. Kind of hard to go to work showing homes without my car. I called my usual Mesquite home repair guy, Shane McCoy, who gave me John Barrett's number. Shane (14 comments)
Another Mesquite MLS Listing Sold in Sunset Greens Mesquite Gated Golfcourse Community - 05/18/11 10:26 PM
Another Mesquite MLS Listing Sold in Sunset Greens Gated Golfcourse Community - One of the nicest neighborhoods in Mesquite. It was a very well maintained, updated townhome in a great part of the subdivision, with great views. The sellers expected to sign a listing agreement for 6 months - I told them that if I couldn't sell it in 3 months, that we would need to have a little talk. It closed escrow one week before the 3 month Mesquite MLS listing was up. Happy Sellers. They priced the home to sell. I marketed it online using my Active Rain blog (3 comments)

Rhinoceros spotted in backyard of a Mesquite Nevada home! - 05/16/11 11:58 PM
A rhinoceros was spotted hiding in the jungle in a backyard of a home for sale in Mesquite NV. The huge animal was discovered by a Kokopelli landscaping crew while attempting to trim the plush palm trees that surround the perimeters of this park-like immense back yard. OK, don't worry - it turned out to be a very large rhino-shaped rock. I admit, I can't even spell rhinocerous. I had to spellcheck it. This is a very nice backyard, though - palm trees, grape vines, large oak trees, waterfall, babbling brook. Does not sound like your usual desert landscaping, does it? (9 comments)
Maybe to you it was just a "Quickie" - to me it was an inspiration! - 05/15/11 09:15 PM
Sometimes it is the little things you do. Maybe not an intentional thing. An impulsive thought. Sharing a moment. But you never know who is listening to you. Or if what you say makes a difference to someone. Large or small, it matters. Yesterday, while in my car waiting for a client, I read a really cool post from Cyndi Daves about a motorcycle trip in the rain with her husband, Bill. I was reading it on my phone, and it is too much trouble to comment using my phone. Later, I couldn't remember who wrote it. So, what about it? (11 comments)
Foreclosure on the GolfCourse in Mesquite NV - and a game of Hide and Seek - 05/14/11 11:57 PM
I was showing a foreclosure property in Mesquite today - right on the Palmer Golf Course in the Ironwood subdivision. The home has a gorgeous southern view of the mountains over the course. As I was taking a few pictures for my huge collection, I noticed some small movements as I took some shots. I thought it was birds or ducks. When I stepped back into the home from the back patio, I glanced back through the window. Four little kids were running around - playing hide and seek. A hilly golf course in Mesquite is a great place to play (4 comments)

My youngest daughter, Aly. Her husband, Larry. Their son, Ryder. And baby makes three. We got to go to Colorado Springs last week to see our newest grandchild as he turned 2 weeks old. Ryder already has us all wrapped around his little finger - we passed him around a lot, but I don't think we ever actually put him down. I think they can take the bassinet back. And he looks just like me! I knew he would. :)

Sold! Cactus Bloom for my clients in Italy - who found me on my Active Rain blog - 05/11/11 11:58 PM
My clients live in Italy and are missing the gorgeous cactus blooms in their front yard - a few months ago, they bought a home in a Mesquite neighborhood with No HOA fees. I stopped by today to take a few pictures of their trees and landscaping - they are probably wondering how their home in Mesquite is doing while they are away. I was delighted to find several cactus blooming. This one will continue to bloom for a week or so - there are quite a few flower buds getting ready to open.

Ocotillo Blooms in Sun City Mesquite NV - or are they really alien spiders? - 05/09/11 11:28 PM
Ocotillo plants are blooming all over Nevada - these two are in Sun City Mesquite and seem to be hiding among the thicker trees and bushes. Pretending to be a cactus. Fooled me - I thought they were cactus, or cacti - until I looked them up on Wikipedia and found out that they are Fouquieria splendens Engelm, which is a plant. Just another plant. Without the flowers blooming, they look like very large spiders standing on their heads - hence, the rumor that these plants were left here centuries ago by aliens. Why they were left here .... who knows? (6 comments)
Flipping your grocery store receipts -- you never know what you are going to get - 05/08/11 11:56 PM
Smith's Grocery Store in Mesquite NV - I always look at the front of my receipt to see what I paid - and did I get my Smith's discount? And then I make sure that it does not have any tax deductable items on it before I throw it away. I had lived in Mesquite for several months before I noticed the coupons on the back of the receipt. Actually, somone told me.
This is one of the things that I tell my buyers from out of the area - they might miss the coupons like I did. Flip (8 comments)
Mesquite NV Real Estate Market - My last 3 appraisals were above contract sales price - 05/07/11 09:30 PM
Appraisals on my last 3 transactions were very encouraging. Is the Mesquite Real Estate Market starting to bottom out? Real estate is local - right down to the neighborhood. All 3 listings were priced well, right about where they should have been, in 3 different neighborhoods. The appraisals were done by 3 different appraisal companies. On 2 of them, short sales and foreclosures were used as comps. The 3rd home is in a neighborhood with very few distressed properties. All 3 appraisals came in at above the agreed upon sales price in the contract. 2 appraisers noted in their comments that (7 comments)

Four Pounds of Attitude - 05/06/11 02:29 AM
My dog Mikey loved to go to pet friendly Hafen Park in Mesquite NV - not for the views of the lake and mountains, that is what I like about the park. Mikey loved to play with other dogs. His favorite dog was little Bella - I think she weighed in at about 4 pounds. Mikey was madly in love with her. Unfortunately, for Mikey and the other boys, Bella is everybody‘s favorite. And she knows it - she is the Queen of Hafen Park.

Mesquite NV Real Estate - Short Sales and Foreclosures are affecting the Rental Market - 05/05/11 10:44 AM
The Mesquite NV Rental Real Estate Market seems to be picking up - At the end of last year, rentals were sitting vacant for months at a time. Now townhomes and single family rentals are getting a little harder to find and the prices have been going up. As more homeowners have lost homes to foreclosure or short sale, there are more people who will be renting for a few years, while they rebuild their credit and save for a down payment. Even though there are quite a few people who have chosen to take their home off the market and (3 comments)
Conestoga Golf Course - Sun City Mesquite Nevada - Awesome Driving Range - 05/04/11 08:04 PM
Conestoga Golf CourseMy husband, Rich, played the Conestoga Golf Course in Sun City Mesquite with his friend, Shawn Reber. They loved playing the course and were very impressed with the driving range, naming it the Best of any of the facilities of the many golf courses in Mesquite. The driving range at the Conestoga Golf Club in Mesquite NV is laid out like a big green bowling alley, and very well maintained, the way the grass is cut in straight lines on a fairly level field makes it easy to see how the ball is getting to the pin you are (5 comments)

ActiveRainPhotoBloggerContest - Sun City Mesquite Argentine Giant Cactus Blooms - 05/01/11 08:18 PM
My Pesky Buyers in Salem Oregon found just the right home here in Sun City Mesquite NV and went home to pack and move. Little did Marilyn and Art know that they had a treasure in their new backyard. The Giant Argentine Pipe Cactus is common in the Mesquite desert landscape - it grows well in the desert in Nevada, Arizona and Utah. But their cactus had 46 buds growing as we were getting ready to close escrow. The seller had moved out a few weeks ago, and I kept going over to the house to check on the cactus, and (37 comments)
