Sun City Mesquite 55 + Community has the best bocce ball court in Mesquite - one of the many activities offered to residents at their Pioneer Recreation Center.  You can bring your own bocce balls or use one of the sets that the Rec Center provides for residents.  I thought that Bocce was a game, but is considered a sport by those who play it.  :)

Mesquite NV - Fruits and Vegetables Grow in the Desert - One of my Mesquite MLS listings has a huge backyard, over 1/3 acre.  In this small town, that is a very big lot.  I had taken pictures of the lush landscaping and mature trees make this yard so inviting.  Only recently did I actually walk back to the far corner of this custom home for sale - wow!  Produce!

Custom Homes in Mesquite - City and Mountain Views over Falcon Ridge from Calais gated golf course community - I took this picture very late in the afternoon, right before dusk.  I take so many pictures of homes for sale, this time I turned my back to the gorgeous back patio and got this shot of one of the ponds.

Yes, there are now rentals in Sun City Mesquite 55 + Golf Course Community.  There are no townhomes in Sun City - all homes are one level single family homes.  The Homeowner Association CCRs require a minimum 6 month lease for an owner to rent out their home.   Each homeowner gets 2 passes to use the recreation facilities that are included in the HOA fee of $120 per month.

A rhinoceros was spotted hiding in the jungle in a backyard of a home for sale in Mesquite NV.  The huge animal was discovered by a Kokopelli landscaping crew while attempting to trim the plush palm trees that surround the perimeters of this park-like immense back yard.
OK, don't worry - it turned out to be a very large rhino-shaped rock.  I admit, I can't even spell rhinocerous.  I had to spellcheck it.  This is a very nice backyard, though - palm trees, grape vines, large oak trees, waterfall, babbling brook.   Does not sound like your usual desert landscaping, does it?  … (9 comments)

I was showing a foreclosure property in Mesquite today - right on the Palmer Golf Course in the Ironwood subdivision.  The home has a gorgeous southern view of the mountains over the course.  As I was taking a few pictures for my huge collection, I noticed some small movements as I took some shots.  I thought it was birds or ducks.  When I stepped back into the home from the back patio, I glanced back through the window.

My youngest daughter, Aly.  Her husband, Larry.  Their son, Ryder.  And baby makes three.
We got to go to Colorado Springs last week to see our newest grandchild as he turned 2 weeks old.  Ryder already has us all wrapped around his little finger - we passed him around a lot, but I don't think we ever actually put him down.  I think they can take the bassinet back.
And he looks just like me!  I knew he would.  :)

My clients live in Italy and are missing the gorgeous cactus blooms in their front yard - a few months ago, they bought a home in a Mesquite neighborhood with No HOA fees.  I stopped by today to take a few pictures of their trees and landscaping - they are probably wondering how their home in Mesquite is doing while they are away.  I was delighted to find several cactus blooming.  This one will continue to bloom for a week or so - there are quite a few flower buds getting ready to open.

Ocotillo plants are blooming all over Nevada - these two are in Sun City Mesquite and seem to be hiding among the thicker trees and bushes.  Pretending to be a cactus.  Fooled me - I thought they were cactus, or cacti - until I looked them up on Wikipedia and found out that they are Fouquieria splendens Engelm, which is a plant.  Just another plant.
Without the flowers blooming, they look like very large spiders standing on their heads - hence, the rumor that these plants were left here centuries ago by aliens.  Why they were left here .... who knows?  … (6 comments)

Flipping your grocery store receipts -- you never know what you are going to get - 05/08/11 11:56 PM
Smith's Grocery Store in Mesquite NV - I always look at the front of my receipt to see what I paid - and did I get my Smith's discount?  And then I make sure that it does not have any tax deductable items on it before I throw it away.  I had lived in Mesquite for several months before I noticed the coupons on the back of the receipt.  Actually, somone told me.
 
 
This is one of the things that I tell my buyers from out of the area - they might miss the coupons like I did.

Mesquite NV Real Estate Market - My last 3 appraisals were above contract sales price - 05/07/11 09:30 PM
Appraisals on my last 3 transactions were very encouraging.  Is the Mesquite Real Estate Market starting to bottom out?  Real estate is local - right down to the neighborhood.  All 3 listings were priced well, right about where they should have been, in 3 different neighborhoods.
The appraisals were done by 3 different appraisal companies.  On 2 of them, short sales and foreclosures were used as comps.  The 3rd home is in a neighborhood with very few distressed properties.
All 3 appraisals came in at above the agreed upon sales price in the contract.  2 appraisers noted in their comments that … (7 comments)

My dog Mikey loved to go to pet friendly Hafen Park in Mesquite NV - not for the views of the lake and mountains, that is what I like about the park.  Mikey loved to play with other dogs.  His favorite dog was little Bella - I think she weighed in at about 4 pounds.  Mikey was madly in love with her.  Unfortunately, for Mikey and the other boys, Bella is everybody‘s favorite.  And she knows it - she is the Queen of Hafen Park.

The Mesquite NV Rental Real Estate Market seems to be picking up - At the end of last year, rentals were sitting vacant for months at a time.  Now townhomes and single family rentals are getting a little harder to find and the prices have been going up.  As more homeowners have lost homes to foreclosure or short sale, there are more people who will be renting for a few years, while they rebuild their credit and save for a down payment.

Conestoga Golf CourseMy husband, Rich, played the Conestoga Golf Course in Sun City Mesquite with his friend, Shawn Reber.  They loved playing the course and were very impressed with the driving range, naming it the Best of any of the facilities of the many golf courses in Mesquite.

Marilyn Redd Park on the north side of Mesquite NV - lovely park to take a picnic for one or for the whole family.  Pets are welcome on a leash, the dog friendly walking path surrounds the park.  It is about 1/3 of a mile around the park path - 3 trips around and you have walked a mile on the hilly terrain.
