Salvaging the Good - 04/23/11 11:16 PM
Salvaging the Good I had a long conversation tonight with an agent from another office. It was absolutely heartbreaking. She said, "People in real estate are so horrible, I'm ready to just retire my license". Here is someone who has been beat down, back stabbed, walked over, and demoralized to the point of just giving up. Not by strangers, but by colleagues in her own office.
It really made my heart hurt to hear this, because my own experience has been so very different. I love my job, my company, and the people I work with. I am blessed to work (15 comments)
I Want to be Like Dagny When I Grow Up! - 04/18/11 09:55 PM
I Want to be Like Dagny When I Grow Up! Since there were limited showings of Atlas Shrugged here in Tennessee, my friends and I drove about 90 miles to see the film yesterday. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! It's been a long time since I've been to see a movie that ended with thunderous applause from the audience. I know the critics have given the movie terrible reviews, and the Hollywood elite didn't want to touch it. But you know what, that's all the more reason to go see it. I love nothing more than voting with my (8 comments)
The Bad News is Everywhere - You can't really turn on the television or pick up a newspaper without reading something negative about the housing market. Unless you live in a cave, you have to know the housing market isn't good. Foreclosures are high and many people are underwater on their homes.
The Reality Disconnect - This is where it gets interesting. Despite having heard this dreadful news for the past 3 years, people are still genuinely surprised to learn that they can't sell their house for a profit. (12 comments)
How Many Computers Do You Need? - 04/09/11 10:18 PM
How Many Computers Do You Need? The past couple of days have been a real exercise in frustration for me. Yesterday morning I was up bright and early to prepare for a listing appointment. My computer promptly crashed imploded, which left me scurrying to get ready and get to my office computer. As it turned out, a malicious virus had wiped out my operating system. The listing appointment went equally bad, as the prospective sellers felt it was perfectly reasonable to expect a profit on a home purchased in 2007. Riiiiight. So, some other agent has an overpriced listing and I have (5 comments)
Defying Conventional Wisdom and Embracing Femininity - 04/07/11 10:49 PM
Defying Conventional Wisdom and Embracing Femininity It all started with Rebecca. She called one day to ask about a house. She spoke in an elegant South Carolina accent, and in a manner that is the very essence of a gracious Southern lady. I liked her immediately. She made an appointment to see a house the next day.
Pearls and a pink dress - For my appointment with Rebecca, I chose to defy convention. I wore a pale pink dress with a gorgeous pearl necklace to match. It was simple and conservative, and somehow felt right for the occasion. I know, (7 comments)
