rvalistings: Union Hill: Nationally Registered, Locally Loved! - 04/27/17 12:00 PM

Many visitors to this area pass through unaware they have entered the nationally registered historic neighborhood of Union Hill.  One tell-tale sign that you’re in Union Hill is the uniquely designed streets. Rather than following the traditional gridlike the adjacent Church Hill and Shockoe Valley, this East-End neighborhood’s roads compliment the hilly terrain on which it sits, as originally designed by John Adams and Ben Mosby.       The architecture of Union Hill boasts a variety of antebellum styles and with the neighborhood being largely developed pre-WWI, there are only a few newer examples of modern structures. Union Hill remains quite the … (0 comments)

rvalistings: August Agrees with Buyers - 07/25/16 07:56 AM

You know why now is the best time to buy? Winter is coming. While I find that Game of Thrones reference hilariously appropriate, it’s basically used to express the notion “always be prepared.” And in this instance, buying a home now, before the fall, can prepare you and your newly purchased home for those winter elements and from any surprise snafus.
Have the previous homeowners cleared the gutters or done their seasonal HVAC maintenance? While these “problems” can all be remedied quite easily, who wants to be on a ladder in the cold temperatures on that ONE day where there’s sun, and … (0 comments)

rvalistings: Powhatan- The Next Frontier - 02/02/16 01:24 AM

Powhatan County is located between the Appomattox and James Rivers.

In Real Estate, there is a lot of emphasis on “location, location, location!” For a lot of people that means central to lots of amenities. Many homebuyers what to be in the middle of the action, or at least a short car ride away. That could range from school to work, or even nightlife and great restaurants. However, what about those who have chosen a different path? There is a growing emergence of people looking to get “off the grid,” some who are trying to keep tradition … (0 comments)
