So many Americans are blindly throwing money into a retirement fund, checking it once or twice a year and hoping it yields enough for an enjoyable retirement.  The majority of these retirement funds are concentrated in stock-based mutual funds.  As a larger percentage of our population moves towards retirement I fear those funds will be steadily withdrawn for retirement use and stocks will reflect this steady decline.  This simple theory may or may not be true but diversification outside of stocks into precious metals, real estate, and other options sure seems to make a lot of sense.
