active rain: Patricia Kennedy Goes Above and Beyond on Active Rain - 06/20/10 03:30 PM
Patricia Kennedy is one of my very dearest friends here on Active Rain. I know there are a lot of new people here on Active Rain that have been subscribing to my blog. So if you don't know Patricia yet, you may want to meet her.
She is a Washington DC real estate agent and a good one to boot.  With a name like Kennedy you may think that we would not get along. While we have our political differences- we also have common ground.  Many of you may not have been around through my entire Latvia Property saga that … (10 comments)

active rain: How To Use Your Active Rain Blog To Get Listings! - 10/27/09 12:16 PM
How To Use Your Active Rain Blog To Get Listings! There are many ways in which agents use their Active Rain blogs for buyers, like in relocation packages and email alerts. Since our focus is on getting listings and Bob Stewart has this contest going on about how we share our Active Rain blog to build existing relationships I thought that I would share how we incorporate our Active Rain blog on a listing presentation over the phone or in person. We also use our Active Rain blog information with our existing sellers. Here is the play by play: 1. We … (81 comments)

active rain: How Did You Find Active Rain? - 07/05/09 11:24 AM
How Did You Find Active Rain? We were on line when brokers were not allowing us to use email for business. That seems like eons ago. We still had those MLS books we carried around with us! Do you remember those? Back in 1997  Real Estate was really just in a pre- infancy state on the Internet. We were on the leading edge of what was happening on line but that is a different story. We went offline in 2002 and that is another story also. In 2006 we decided to go on line again with our new real estate brokerage. … (97 comments)

active rain: WOW! 900 Posts Is A Lot Of Posts! - 03/20/09 06:46 AM
WOW! 900 Posts Is A  Lot Of Posts! When I looked at my home page on Active Rain this morning I saw that I had posted my 900th post last night. Then I thought about how many posts that really is! I wrote my first post on June 25, 2007. The next post after that was on July 1, 2009. It took me a whole five days to discover that you get points to write! There was NO turning back after that! It seems like just yesterday that I started. I even had to think of what year I started as it … (33 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Blogs- Call To Action In Your Blogging - 03/16/09 04:40 PM

There has been a lot of heated discussion surrounding whether you should have a call to action and point of contact information on the posts that you write or not.  There are people online including here on Active Rain that say that you should NOT put a footer, a call to action or a point of contact at the end of your posts because if the reader really wants to find you; they will. This is not always the case and I certainly don't want to be the one who loses a prospect if  I apply this theory. Most people … (73 comments)

When I first started on Active Rain in late June of 2007 I just wanted to be #1 in Wellington Florida! Well, that was so easy I just kept on going! But never in a million years did I think that I would ever reach the top 10 much less the top 3 … (53 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Is More Than Meets The Eye- It Meets The Heart! - 10/12/08 04:34 PM
I can not begin to express in words the amazing place that Active Rain has become in my life. Today I do not have the words to fully express the depth of gratitude I stand in right now.
As I contemplate all the good that is our lives and all the prosperity we treasure and enjoy on a daily basis I am awestruck.
We get a lot of business just from our blog from listings to great wonderful agents to coach. This is the reason I started blogging on Active Rain- to make money and to pay it forward. In return … (63 comments)

active rain: The Journey Of 200,000 Points Begins With A Single Post. - 09/06/08 07:42 PM
The Journey Of 200,000 Points Begins With A Single Post. To travel to the moon it is a journey of over 200,000 miles. The miles I have traveled on Active Rain have brought me to this juncture meeting the 200,000 point post. Just as a journey to the moon would most definitely be filled with anticipation, rocky turbulence, peaceful bliss, moments of deep thought and being a part of team working in unison to reach our destination so has this unique and rewarding road through Active Rain become to me. There have been moments of anticipation with the first blogging attempts … (157 comments)

active rain: What A Difference A Year Makes! - 07/06/08 01:35 PM
What A Difference A Year Makes! The first post I ever wrote on Active Rain was one year ago and was titled; What A Great Place Active Rain Is. I did not know how to add images, where to even go to get images and even how to upload my own images! I did not understand how to use the Active Rain editor; how to add links, how to bold or make my posts look more appealing. What A Great Place Active Rain Is- WoW, that is an understatement. What I did know was about tags, keywords and SEO and all … (122 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Headers- Do You Like What You See? - 06/26/08 10:10 AM
Active Rain Blog Headers- Do You Like What You See? Customizing your Active Rain blog using the Active Rain Customizer is very popular right now. You can cruise around Active Rain and see all the different headers and blog themes. Some are simple while others are very extravagant. I was hesitant in changing over to a customized header using the Active Rain Customizer because many of the blogs I have visited just take too long to load. Since we know that there are still many people using 56K modems on dial up this is a great concern. Research shows that if … (65 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Blogging and SEO- It's All About The Links You Get Or Not! - 06/21/08 07:11 AM
Linking Strategies For SEO
Active Rain Blogging and SEO-  It's All About The Links You Get or Not! Linking strategies are a very important part of your SEO for your blog and for your website. The power of the link is very valuable. Google likes to see links coming into your blog. One way links are the most valuable. These are called 'inbound links'. The links that you put on your blog and website that go to other websites on the Internet are called 'outbound' links. You do not want too many of those. Sites that have a ton of outbound … (158 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Subscriber Information- All I Had To Do Was Ask!?! - 05/03/08 11:42 AM
I like to know who subscribes to my Active Rain blog. Every year I send out Christmas gratitude letters to each one of my subscribers. Last year when I did this, many of our subscribers did not have their mailing addresses anywhere to be found on their blog which made my job quite difficult to get a letter out to each one. I did personally email some subscribers but there was no way I could get to all of them. At that time I had about 200+ subscribers. Now I have 591 subscribers so you can imagine how many people will … (71 comments)

The Problem is What?

When I received a comment  from Virginia Hepp telling me that she was being driven batty by my blog that was making her scroll to read my posts I became very concerned.

I emailed my good friend Missy to check it out for me since I had no problem viewing my blog. Well, Missy viewed our blog fine from Firefox which is the same browser that I use however when she viewed our blog in IE; there was the problem.

Why is this my concern?
I could easily tell everyone to use Firefox instead of IE and … (44 comments)
