Washington, DC, area named to Top 10 Places to Buy Foreclosures - 04/01/08 11:53 AM
Foreclosures were down last month in DC and VA in February, but that doesn't mean more aren't coming.  As the Washington Post "Ring of Fire" article pointed out, there are concentrated pockets of severe problems.   These pockets do create a certain level of opportunity though; Forbes named the metropolitan DC area #10 on its list of "Best Places to Buy Foreclosed Homes" thanks to the area's economic environment, quality of life, and hints of stabilization.  The Top 5 cities were Charlotte, Raleigh, Nashville, Oklahoma City, and San Antonio.    Apparently Fairfax County agrees that this is a unique opportunity: the County is … (2 comments)

DC & Northern Virginia Spring 2008 Real Estate Market Outlook: Not All Bad News - 04/01/08 11:50 AM
It's easy enough to find bad news about the market, but you might have missed some of these tidbits this past month.  Is it the start of a turnaround?  Or just the "Spring Bounce"?  I don't know, but as this Time Magazine article "Ignore The Headlines" points out, "There has rarely been a moment in history when you couldn't scare yourself into doing nothing."   The Washington Post reports--surprisingly--that in 2007 prices were up in Arlington and also in Washington, DC.  And a report on Q1 of 2008 reports a sharp rise in DC condominium sales.
