Mary Pope-Handy Did A Terrible Thing... - 07/31/07 02:09 AM
Hi All,
I hate to have to talk about this on the eve of arriving in San Francisco and I never suspected that sweet, kind, generous Mary could be so cruel, but, shocking though it may seem, she was and is.  How you may ask?  Well, I'll tell you... First she invited me to Los Gatos and asked me to stay with her family and Mary, Jim, Clair and Brian have the audacity to not only be gracious hosts, but they also are just plain nice people.  Like I need more of those in my life...
Then, she takes time out of her busy … (9 comments)

'Twas The Night Before Bye-Bye... Another Post In Rhyme :-) - 07/28/07 02:10 AM
Hi All,
Tonight I am once again inspired to post in rhyme, so here goes...
'Twas the night before bye-bye as I sat in my house, hearing the rumble of my snoring spouse.
Today has been busy, tomorrow is too, and Sunday is looming with bunches to do!
My car still needs cleaning, my house is a mess, the laundry's not done and I'm in distress!
My hair is no redder, my bags are not packed, And I'm starting to feel as if I've been attacked.
The mundane, the trite, all those piddly things, that suck up your day and give your time wings.
And did I … (18 comments)

A Revolutionary Idea And A REAL Win-Win :-) - 07/27/07 01:23 AM
Hi All,
I was writing a comment moments ago and I realized that the comment really needed to be a post of it's very own so here it is.  For anyone who has come late to the party, Project Blogger is almost over as the audience voting ends in 25 hours and the final week (good old week three :-) is being judged.  I have already made a shameless plug for votes and in lieu of this idea being adopted, I don't want anyone to disregard that post or that request, but here's my idea...
What do you folks think - apprentices, coaches … (5 comments)

Are You A Watcher Or A Reader? - 07/26/07 12:44 AM
Hi All,
Week fourteen's judging came out for Project Blogger today and the judges, who I know worked very hard on it, decided to post their comments as a video blog.  This was interesting to me for a variety of reasons.  I had a hard time viewing the comments because my connection was so slow that it took a while for things to even start to load, and by the time it did, my ADD had kicked in big time and I was ready to go chase butterflies or build a rocket-ship, but not to watch a video.   However, that was not the main difficulty … (7 comments)

A Shameless Plug... - 07/25/07 11:17 PM
Hi All,
This is going to be a shameless plug... for votes... for my team... for Project Blogger.  I am telling you this right off the bat because I don't want anyone to think that I was trying to sneak something by them, and I also don't want anyone to be unclear on where I stand on this.
Based upon what you, my readers have told me, you like what I have offered you these past 14 weeks.  You have put me on the top 100 most subscribed to overall list here on Active Rain.  You have given me encouragement, opportunities, referrals … (4 comments)

Time To Give Back :-) I'm Teaching My First Blogging Class Tomorrow - 07/24/07 10:26 PM
Hi All,
Tomorrow I get to start giving back to others some of what has been given to me.  I am very excited because I will be teaching my very first Introduction to Real Estate Blogging class at my office.  So, before I finish my notes about what I think I will be talking about, I decided to ask the real experts for advice.
What are the things that you wish someone would have told you before you started blogging.  What are some of the resources that you wish you would have found about sooner?  And what suggestions do you have for me, … (10 comments)

The $17,000 Lesson - 07/24/07 11:55 AM
Hi All,
I have a friend (no, really I do) has a listing that she (and I) may have learned a $17,000 lesson on.  She is the listing agent and she has the property co-listed with another agent in her office.  They received an offer a bit under listing price, countered and got the buyer's up to listing price, received the buyer's counter with an addendum, sent the counter to their client, the client signed off on the counter and everyone celebrated the accepted offer until...
My friend got a look at the last counter, was reading it over and hidden deep within the … (28 comments)

It's One Of THOSE Days... - 07/24/07 12:15 AM
Hi All,
Today has been what I can only describe as one of THOSE days.  One of those days that make you truly appreciate all of the other days that surround them.  One of those days that test your mettle and at times your vocabulary.
Things did not start off well... I overslept, which got me started on the wrong foot.  Then, I took the second half of a class on time management.  You know you really need time management when you actually have to take the time managemet class twice because you didn't have time to finish the assignments the first time 'round.
So, this time I decided … (13 comments)

Project Blogger T-Shirts Pre-Order Your's NOW! - 07/22/07 05:22 PM
Hi All,
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I was thinking of making Project Blogger T-shirts for those that were interested and that I would be bringing them to Inman to sell for charity.  I also spoke, well, actually I Im'd with Drew and we decided that we would split the funds between his charity choice and mine so the net proceeds will be going to KIVA.org and KWCares.
With my departure for Inman exactly one week away (wow, time flies) I think that I need to get a better idea of how many of these I need to make.  I have a … (9 comments)

It's Not That I Don't Love You... - 07/20/07 11:35 PM
Hi All,
I just wanted to let you folks know that I have not deserted you and that I have no intention of abandoning my AR friends.  I have been enjoying a brief sabbatical and it has been a wickedly busy week.  Tuesday and a good portion of today were spent helping my friend Jodie who just had the new baby three weeks ago today, prepare for her move into her new house.  It was actually the easiest "help a friend move" I have ever been asked to do.  All that was needed was for me to come over and hold the … (10 comments)

Harry Potter And The Vague Resemblance... To Real Estate :-) - 07/15/07 08:51 PM
Hi All,
My Mel and I took some time out today to go see the latest Harry Potter film "Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix".  I had looked forward to seeing this picture for weeks as I am a big Harry Potter fan.
I was actually planning on being in line at the bookstore on June 20/21 2003 when the book this movie was based upon was being released but June 21, 2003 was my wedding day and cooler heads prevailed keeping me from wiling away my final single girl hours in a bookstore surrounded by 12 year olds.
Anyway, I … (18 comments)

How To Build A Blogger From The Ground Up - The Fourth and Final PB Round-Up Post - 07/15/07 07:56 PM
Hi All,
Well, I have finally arrived at the fourth and final post in my Project Blogger Round-Up Series, and it is going to be a long one.  Part One can be found here.  Part Two can be found here.  And, Part Three can be found here.
In part three, I talked about what went on from about the second week in the contest to the end of May.  This was an extremely busy and at times extremely baffling time.   I was trying to listen to the suggestions from the various judges and to implement those that made sense for me.  The only … (5 comments)

A Proxy Post Until The Final Part Four Is Completed :-) - 07/15/07 03:37 AM
Hi All,
This truly is a proxy post as I promised to have part four in my series of PB round-up posts completed and up on Saturday.  Unfortunately, I have not actually completed part four yet and as I am so tired that it is currently taking me about five minutes to get a line down owing to my tendency to start to doze every time I blink, I am humbly apologizing for missing my self-imposed deadline.
I assure you that the fourth and final article in this series will be up before Sunday is out.  Thank you all in advance for your … (5 comments)

How To Build A Blogger From The Ground Up - 3rd In The PB Round-Up Series - 07/13/07 07:41 PM
Hi All,
Yesterday, as promised, I posted the 2nd part of this seriesabout my experience with Active Rain, Blogging and Project Blogger.  For me the three are inextricably tied especially because they all happened at almost the very same time to me.
To refresh your memory... Or if you have just joined us... Previouslyy I covered the launch phase and the very early weeks in the life of Route66Living.com.   I talked about everything from the selection of the site's name and it's look to some of the earliest posts and decisions that were made regarding how I wanted to handle comments.
Now, we are getting … (7 comments)

How To Build A Blogger From The Ground Up - Second In the PB Round-Up Series - 07/13/07 01:23 AM
Hi All,
Yesterday I started my Project Blogger Round-Up series in an attempt to chronicle in one place my process going from 0 (brand new to blogging, Active Rain and Real Estate) to Mach 1 (two fully functional blog sites, one here on Active Rain and the other being Route66Living.com).  It has been a very intense journey, with lots of wonderful sights along the way and a few bumps in the road as well.
I feel overall that I have been fortunate as the joys have far outweighed the sorrows and I have begun to reap the benefits of all this hard work... … (11 comments)

How To Build A Blogger From The Ground Up - 1st In A Series Of PB Round-Up Posts - 07/12/07 01:45 AM
Hi All,
Well, the Project Blogger pack has rounded the last turn and is heading for home at break-neck speed.  So, I think the time has come for me to cap this off nicely with a series of posts that (hopefully) will encapsulate my Project Blogger experience and could also help to serve as part of a blueprint for others to follow.
When I joined Active Rain and put up my very first post on March 31 2007, I had no idea what the future would hold.  I had never blogged before anywhere and I had also never heard of Project Blogger.  To re-cap … (13 comments)

Why I Hate Active Rain And Why You Should Too... - 07/11/07 05:40 PM
Hi All,
As I made my way to bed last night with mere moments to spare before the sun began to rise and I had to officially say this morning, I reflected upon Active Rain, what it means to me and why I have decided that I hate it.  And after I share my views I am sure that you will agree with me and hate it too...
I hate the amount of sleep it has caused me to miss since my discovery of the site on March 30/31 2007 (see, from the very first moment Active Rain has been snagging my zzz's).  … (26 comments)

I Got Published! UPDATE = The Link :-) - 07/10/07 03:47 AM
Hi All,
A week or so ago I posted I Got Published about an article that I was asked to write for my local board's monthly newspaper.  I promised to let you all see it when it was put up on their website.  The holiday delayed things just a tad, but the article is now up and available for perusal at CVAR.net.
It is under the "Tech Tips" section and is entitled "To Blog or Not To Blog... Do You Understand The Question?"  Take a look and let me know what you think.
It still amazes me to think that barely three months ago … (14 comments)

It's Not About The Points... It's About The People - 07/10/07 02:30 AM
Hi All,
I am happy to report that I am now well rested from my mini vacation and it is a darn good thing because I needed to hit the ground running today.
My happy little site Route66Living.comseems to be doing its job better and better.  Today saw another client arrive at my door, well actually at my phone and email by way of my blog.   We are going out on Friday to look at property.  An interesting thing, they read not only my site but also read some of what I have written here on AR as well.
Turns out that the … (11 comments)

I Survived Project Blogger T-Shirts - Any Takers? - 07/09/07 12:56 AM
Hi All,
This started as a joke and then I thought about it and decided that it might just be fun to do.  Any interest in an I Survived Project Blogger T-Shirt to wear at Inman?  The net profits would go to charity (KW Cares) and I would produce them myself.
If you are interested in the idea, please let me know and I will pursue it further.  I have done shirts for other charity events in the past and they have turned out pretty well.   I can logo the front and the back and could even personalize them with the name and … (14 comments)

A Ghost Post Mostly For Mary or What I Did On My Summer Vacation :-) - 07/08/07 10:58 PM
Hi All,
I am back from the longest silence that I have experienced since I joined Active Rain on March 31.  My hubby Mel and I took off for a three day weekend to belatedly celebrate our fourth anniversary.  I brought my computer and my air card with me, but the places that we stayed did not offer speedy connections so trying to read anything on the Internet was painful and trying to write anything to post was just about out of the question.
We decided to go back to Virginia City Nevada where we spent part of our honeymoon.  Once again we … (12 comments)

Hearing My V.O.I.C.E. Within My Voice - 07/03/07 01:48 PM
Hi All,
A few days ago I wrote what can only be described as an epic post and this coming from me, as someone who has never been moderate with my words is saying something.  There was a whole lot going on in that piece but one of the things that I felt was most important was contained in barely two lines.
I realized as I wrote what a V.O.I.C.E. was for me and why it mattered, that there was a whole lot more than just a style or sound.  Here is what I wrote:
"Here, in the blogosphere, we have one thing … (20 comments)

Hitting The Wall, Helping A Stranger and Hope For The Future - 07/03/07 02:25 AM
Hi All,
Well, tonight for the very first time I feel as if I've hit the wall.  I am tired.  I am very, very tired but is a good tired.  I am sure that a lot of what is causing this was my spending a good portion of today at City of Hope doing my regular double Platelet donation.   The worst part of that whole thing is actually the two pin pricks, the best part is the idea that I might be saving a life so a little momentary discomfort is truly a very small price to pay.
But that is not really … (7 comments)

Introducing My Pet... Peeve - 07/01/07 12:51 AM
Hi All,
Today I wanted to introduce you to one of my pets... Peeve is his name.  Pet Peeve is a bit of a wanderer so I don't see much of him most of the time, but when he comes home I find out where he has been and what he has been up to.  He came home today and he was all hot under the collar about the "Ask A Real Estate Professional" section in AR.
Peeve told me... oh yes, he talks... that he found this great area of Active Rain and while he was enjoying nosing around there he noticed something that … (18 comments)
