Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates! Part 2.5 of 3 or Maybe 4 - 10/31/10 12:52 PM
Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates!  But, do you even know the rules? Most people don't know the rules they just know how it's always been done.
Of course you believe you play by the rules!
Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates!
Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates! Conformity is generally much more restrictive than the rules! Conformity is the mantra, the doctrine of the mundane and mediocre. Conformity is an excuse for failure! Conformity is the reason there are fewer of us today than there were three years ago! He conformed, is just as poor … (4 comments)

Another Lesson From our Youth - 10/27/10 03:54 PM
Another Lesson From our Youth. Until recently it was always part of the American Dream that our progeny would live a better life than we did. That they'd be better educated. That they wouldn't repeat our mistakes.
Another Lesson From our Youth. We all read Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill and Orwell in junior high and high school we believed we could do anything! Some of us still do.
Then many dropped out and turned on, even though turned off would be more accurate. It wasn't until 1975 that I first met Earl Nightingale. His simple lesson was the same as my … (10 comments)

Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates! Part 2 of 3 or maybe 4 - 10/26/10 02:48 PM
Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates! In part 1 we talked about laws, laws must be obeyed. A friend brought regulations into the discussion. My definition of "regulations" are rules with the affect of law! My Word Perfect dictionary says: "regulation >noun 1 a rule or directive made and maintained by an authority." I had included "regulations" with in "Laws" for they are inseparable, they must be obeyed.
My point is that all to many agents understand so little that they restrain themselves and more importantly their clients to a narrower line in the center because they don't know … (6 comments)

Lessons From Our Youth - 10/25/10 11:49 AM
Lessons From Our Youth! All is not loss because you got washed out!
Lessons From Our Youth! If at first you don't succeeded, try, try, try, and try again.
Lessons From Our Youth! There is no shame in failing. To be shameful you must first give-up!
Lessons From Our Youth! Into each life a little rain must fall.
Lessons From Our Youth! Life is cyclic.
Lessons From Our Youth! We can learn allot from those nursery rhymes we taught our kids.

Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates! Part 1 of 3 or maybe 4 - 10/24/10 08:10 PM
Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates! I'm a stickler for obeying the law! If you don't count highway speed limits. The truth is today like most of my life I'm normally with in 10 mph of the speed limit it's just more often than not it's the opposing side than I use to be on. I make it a practice to know relevant statutory and case law or know someone that does!
Rules and Laws One Suggest The Other Dictates! By knowing the law my comfort zone isn't restricted through willful ignorance!

Being Positive Is Not Enough It Takes Competency - 10/19/10 01:36 PM
Being Positive Is Not Enough It Takes Competency! Yesterday I wrote Being positive is not enough! About how motivation, education and expertise is not enough to make you confidant or successful! Rereading it I remembered I'd written much more about it before, loving redundancy Here's a lightly edited version of that article from 1-26-08 blog, Two Catalog Cases and Two Attache Cases / Competence VS Expertise/action/blogs_admin/write/353761e

I haveblogged about Fiduciary Expertise Attorney Licensing and Competency I want to talk more about Competency Vs Expertise. The two words are often though to be interchangeable, in deed I use them interchangeably … (6 comments)

Being positive is not enough! - 10/18/10 01:32 PM
Being positive is not enough! If it were it would be a tossup weather Richard Simmons, Tony Robinson or maybe even Carrot Top is the worlds best salesman! Even though two of them are great salesman, Being positive is not enough!
Being positive is not enough! Preaching "WIN-WIN" is not enough!
Being positive is not enough! Knowing more real estate than most is not enough.
Being positive is not enough! Knowing more lending and credit than the guy on the other side of the desk is not enough.
Being positive is not enough! Even having the physical agility, stamina and … (6 comments)

The Divinity of Simplicity - 10/14/10 04:24 PM
The Divinity of Simplicity.  I stumbled across an old friend today. I hadn't seen him in along while. I hadn't really been looking for him. My friend accounts for so much of what is me, you'd think he was one of those Great people who've mentored me all my life. Well he is and then again he isn't.
The Divinity of Simplicity. Unlike my cyber friends some of whom I could call on and ask for help knowing there only questions would be where and when. I can't ask questions of this guy, but I can find answers! My friend is more … (10 comments)

Another Forgotten Lesson - 10/11/10 02:47 PM
No real estate today. Another Forgotten Lesson, nothing changes except technology, facades and faces! It's said that those that don't remember history are doomed to repeat it! Today so few know what our history really is. It's the era of historical revisionism. There is even a dedicated cable network that admits "history made every day" and they do! Frequently the only thing their history has right is the names. But, that's just Another Forgotten Lesson!
Another Forgotten Lesson today is the day most often though of as the day the local aborigines advocated their responsibility to protect their boarders!
Even that is … (16 comments)

Truth In Labeling - 10/10/10 05:45 PM
Truth In Labeling so much of what we read we don't believe. Brenda and I were out riding around NW Houston Saturday, following garage sale signs talking to people, seeing neighborhoods we never see any other way. Friendly people, but liars all! Not even one of them wanted to sell their garage, so much for Truth In Labeling.
We got off in this one small subdivision of little homes, it was clean, but slightly depressed. The garage sale looked liked people trying to make the rent, those sales are so depressing. We didn't stop. Trying to drive as many different streets … (12 comments)

I Started Real Estate When... - 10/09/10 12:02 AM
I Started Real Estate When... I was 25.
I Started Real Estate When... I was a disenchanted lender.
I Started Real Estate When... bank mortgage rates were 6.5% or a 1/4 lower at S & L’s.
I Started Real Estate When... mortgage brokers handled mostly FHA and VA loans.
I Started Real Estate When... there were no hard (private) money loans in the East or Midwest.
I Started Real Estate When... the NAR required more real estate education than a pass the license class.
I Started Real Estate When... when their were two classes in the NAR REALTORS who had to … (96 comments)

Real Estatetors Self Evaluation - 10/06/10 11:55 AM
Real Estatetors Self Evaluation I don't want to leave any one out. I'd like REALTORS, Loan Originators, and Investors to do a self evaluation.
Real Estatetors are you a professional or a hack? Truthfully what do you think of yourself deep down? How do you feel about what you do? Admit it do you really think you're a professional on a par with the traditional professions?

Doctors, Lawyers, and CPA's are considered professionals even if they don't get paid, are you?  Or, is being paid what makes you professional? If so are you a professional Real Estatetor or a … (9 comments)

Intimately Successful - 10/04/10 04:43 PM
Intimately Successful!  A few days ago my friend Gary Woltal wrote: Do You Get Intimate With Your Clients?
It got me to thinking about my first big investment sale so many years ago. I commented about it.
I've written about my first sale: My First Sale and The Naked Amazon / A Haunted House
It was truly Intimately Successful!
Intimately Successful also describes my first big sale.  It was almost a year after I'd started. I had closed over a dozen single family sales and two to three times that many 2, 3, And 4 unit properties. I had listed … (8 comments)
