Fleet Week is a two week period in early Fall to celebrate the large military presence and influence in San Diego and it gives the citizens of San Diego a chance to see first hand the large and important role they play in protecting us. We are indeed grateful to the men and women that dedicate and risk their lives to this most important endeavor of protecting our country.
San Diego Fleet week that kicked off last weekend with a huge Festival, comes to an end this weekend culminating … (37 comments)

This is a double sided fabrication as well as it is designed to represent two different sides in our lives. One side is brightly colored and the other is grey and black tones. The reverse or front side is also colored in the reverse of this side.

If you guessed that is was beautiful, take a look at some of these photos of the Art Show, The Bay and the Downtown area of East Village ( Home of our famous ballpark, Petco Park). I was duly impressed with the location, the perspective , the ArtWalk show and the Hilton Hotel and Facilities is simply beautiful. I can definitely see why people flock to this hotel and boardwalk. What a beautiful addition to the San Diego Bay Hotels and Convention Center. Enjoy the photos.

Photography | The Newfoundland, The Gentle Giant ! - 09/21/10 03:16 PM
Photography | The Newfoundland
While I was at the Art Walk on the Bay this Saturday, I came across this amazing beautiful specimen, the Great Newfloundland. This male weighs in at 149 pounds. I was smitten with his warm and sweet personality. When I approached him hoping to take his photo, he raised his leg and handed me his paw.
This species was rightfully named, the Gentle Giant. They were first breed as fisherman dogs in Newfoundland. As large as he is, one of things that this breed is known for is their great swimming strength. They have a huge … (32 comments)

This is the fifth year and this year will be the largest and is being held at the Park at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront.

A Reminder of All the Ones that Got Away ! - 09/16/10 08:29 PM
San Diego Fishing Harbor on Point Loma

One of the many beautiful sights in San Diego are it's many harbors. This is one of the premier fishing harbors where some of the deep sea fishing tours originate. With views to the downtown, not a bad place to hang out.

I ventured into one of the wonderful fishing supply stores, Fisherman's Landing on the boardwalk and I was totally amazed with the place. I never saw so much in the way of lures and fishing tackle, rods and reels, clothing, you name it, they had it.  As I looked in … (26 comments)

Stephanotis, What's With the Seed Pods? - 09/15/10 07:47 PM
Stephanotis
A relative to the Jasmine flower, the Stephanotis is the fragrant and waxy petaled flower often found in wedding arrangements. It was nicknamed Bridal Veil , I guess for that reason. But many others know of it as, Madagascar Jasmine. I love this plant for it's abundant summer flowers and the fragrance is out of this world. I have been very fortunate that this plant has thrown out many seed pods over the last couple years. When the pod matures and splits open, it has many many seeds that have a  silky plume of white hairs, attached to one end for allowing … (32 comments)

San Diego to Get a New National Cemetery While the Original Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery Gets a Makeover - 09/14/10 11:30 PM
San Diego's New National Cemetery is now  under construction and the original Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery is getting a makeover.
Veteran Military casket burials at the Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma have not taken place in 44 years with the exception of those killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan. There have been family members laid to rest with honored loved ones that already have a plot. There have been thousands of cremation burials but Rosecrans simply ran out of space for casket burials. There is a site that I will link here that has the rules and guidelines for who qualifies … (20 comments)

Get Enthusiastic or Get Out! - 09/14/10 12:03 PM
Get Enthusiastic or Get Out!

I took this photo while on the Ski lift at Squaw Valley last Sept.
The other day I ran across something while I was clearing away some of the many documents and papers associated with when I was president of our association of REALTOR®.
It was a small little sign in a cardboard frame that I had in my board office at the time. It is only 4 words but it speaks volumes. In leadership, probably everywhere, it is always a tug of war between those in office and those that relish the idea that they … (94 comments)

A Fun, Free and Practical Resource for Every ActiveRain Member!. - 09/13/10 10:15 PM
What can be fun and practical for real estate professionals to give as a gift to our clients? I learned of a marvelous resource at SMMCamp that I started to use over the weekend. Here is the very first effort that took all of about 3 minutes.
This free program can turn any photo into a pencil drawing or a variety of many other effects.

The program is called Photofunia. Before you dismiss this as just another cool resource and forget about it, allow me to share with you a couple of wonderful ideas of how you might implement this tool … (96 comments)

Point Loma Seafoods " The Freshest Thing In Town"

Known for quality and freshness, their slogan " The Freshest Thing in Town" represents that only the finest catch would ever be sold at the market. They have over the years built their reputation for selling not only the best seafood the area can provide but … (4 comments)

REALTORS® are in the Moving Business | Moving Clients From Denial to Reality

Seller are notorious for clinging to their belief about the value of their home. They know the markets have changed, they know that everyone was affected. That is, except them.
If that weren't bad enough Buyers believe that everything is worth less, no matter what it is. Especially the home they have so carefully selected, the creme de la creme of the entire inventory. You know the one with all the upgrades with granite and stainless steel appliances and looks like no has ever lived there. Yes, … (16 comments)

Tutorial: Editing a Poor Photo and Creating an Accpetable Image Using Photo Editing Tools. - 09/07/10 01:55 AM
Safari Park  in San Diego is a treasure trove of photographic opportunities but it also has barriers that can discourage even the best of Photographers. I went there this evening to try and capture some of the photos that alluded me on my last visit.
The Tiger Country is one of those areas that when the tigers are visible, they are behind heavy wire fences. The holes are too close together to focus a lens through so if you can get something even reasonable, there may be hope.
This first photo was the sharpest I could get using manual focus with … (49 comments)

San Diego Festival of Sail - 09/04/10 11:26 PM
San Diego Festival of Sail
I attended the Festival of Sail today here in San Diego. The event was sponsored by the Port of San Diego and the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
It was a warm day at the Bay today but there was so much to see and experience that I soon forgot about how warm it was. At least until I went down below deck 2 levels.  As I ventured through the various ships in port, once again, I was so impressed with how our fine city puts on a festival like this.
I hope you will enjoy … (52 comments)

Proposed Changes to Balboa Park To Make It Car Free - That's Not A Spelling Error ! - 09/03/10 02:40 PM
Proposed Changes to Balboa Park To Make It Car Free

That is not a spelling error. Balboa Park's central Plaza de Panama is to have it's parking lot removed. A new parking structure  that is being proposed in a private fund raising effort, would allow the grand Plaze de Panama to be restored to its original central square theme as it was designed for the 1915 Panama California Exposition.
There is a private fund raising effort championed by a well known San Diego philanthropist. The proposed plan to remove the small central parking lot and construct a 2 level parking … (9 comments)
