My mother sent me another gem today... This time, it isn't a pretty sight...you have to read it..... We have a president and first lady in Barack and Michelle Obama who should be respected, if for no other reason than that he occupies the highest office in the land and she is his wife. While I may or may not agree with all of Barack Obama's politics or religious views and reasoning, both he and Michelle Obama have behaved with the utmost propriety and respect for others, even with those who have not agreed with them on either (7 comments)

If you live in the Greater Waterbury CT area (that would be Waterbury and the surrounding towns of Watertown, Plymouth, Wolcott, Prospect, Naugatuck, Middlebury and Southbury), the odds are that you are one among hundreds in your neighborhood who have been thinking of doing the exact same thing: taking the plunge and putting their house on the market.

This is a wake-up call for sellers everywhere. Why did your house expire? Why has it been on the market for months and months and hasn't had any activity? Check out the reasons why below...
Via Alan May, Coldwell Banker Evanston Realtor, North Shore Realtor (Evanston Real Estate, Evanston, IL): 1. Your photos are unimpressive. The vast majority of home buyers start their search for a home on the Internet, your house had better look great in print. Not just nice... downright fabulous. Today we are considering internet views as a 'virtual showing'... if your house gets past that, then (0 comments)
This applies to homeowners everywhere, not just in Florida.
Via Judy Chapman, REALTOR® ~ Short Sales / Luxury & Lake Properties (Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate): Face facts. The consensus is in. The real estate market is the worst it’s been in decades. What’s more, there isn’t going to be a miracle ‘V’ recovery, so say many economists. When the market does recover, house appreciation will be slow and steady. Even then, it’s unlikely the market will regain full value for at least 10 years or more.
Now is NOT the time to make a killing. Got a (0 comments)

Jimmie's of Savin Rock - A Restaurant That I Will NEVER Eat At Again - 08/17/09 04:59 PM
Jimmie's of Savin Rock - A Restuarant That I Will NEVER Eat At Again I had written this back in May 2007.... and I am posting this here, inspired by Donna Harris' recent experience with a restaurant in Texas... You know, one would think that in 21st century America that the specter of racism would have already been banished to the corners of some distant forgotten memory. The Imus controversy certainly dispelled that notion, for sure. But that was an event that even though it was close to home, didn't quite hit the mark for me. Yes, I was somewhat alarmed (6 comments)

Being In Love - 08/13/09 08:21 PM
My mother sent me this gem today...I was so touched and inspired by it that I couldn't help but to share it. We should not only tell God that we love Him by the lives that we live, but also by sharing His goodness to us with others.
Being in LOVE Think back to when you met that man/woman that you just knew would be the one. Remember when you realized/admitted to yourself that you loved him/her. Now remember how much you wanted to act like you were in a movie and yell to everyone in the football stadium (4 comments)
You know, there really aren’t too many places that a man can find good quality clothing these days. It seems as if all of the clothing specialty places are all for the women…but all is not lost, because there is Tony’s Men’s Shop.

I remember when I was a young boy back in the late 70’s, riding with my parents to the Frankie’s on Lakewood Road. It was always a treat going to Frankie’s on a Friday night, to have a deliciously extra-long hot dog on a toasted bun, with mouth-watering steak fries all crispy and golden brown.
Every now and again, we would stop by the Frankie’s on Watertown Avenue on the way to a game at Municipal Stadium or coming from the annual fireworks display during the summer. There was nothing like the hot dogs (3 comments)
Mar-Vic Cleaners has been the cleaners of choice for my family as long as I can remember. Every suit I ever had, every dress that my mother, sisters, and grandmothers wore, when it was time for them to be dry-cleaned, they would head downtown to Mar-Vic Cleaners. No matter what type of stain they may have gotten on them, they always came back from Mar-Vic Cleaners looking like new, well pressed and not a spot remaining. One day, when I was a young man, I discovered the need for some tailoring services. A pair of (1 comments)

Natural Elegance is the place to go when you want your hair done right, ladies.
Ok, so this begs the question: what is a guy doing writing about a hair salon for women?
Well, my wife has been to Natural Elegance on more than one occasion. Every time she’s returned home from Natural Elegance , she’s been very satisfied.
Natural Elegance is the one salon that she’s been to that I have never heard her complain about or regret the hairdo that she’s come home with afterwards. (1 comments)
Open Letter to First Time Home Buyers - 08/06/09 02:00 PM
This is a very timely warning for all first time home buyers who are looking to benefit from the $8000 tax credit that the time to get everything together and start your search for a home is past due. If you want to receive the credit, you must take possession of your new home before December 1 - which means that with the normal and not-so normal delays in closing, all contracts to purchase should be submitted and accepted no later than OCtober 16 - the date that Mr. Hitzelberger refereneces in the following post.

Pizza Castle pizza is the best pizza I have ever had in my 35 years of living. But pizza is pizza, right? NOPE.
When you want thick crust, with lots of cheese, and an abundance of your choice of toppings (pepperoni and sausage are my favorites), then there is only one local restaurant that can deliver a piece of pie so good that you'll just have to come back for more. The great thing about Pizza Castle is that they do not just serve pizza.
I fell in love with Amalfi’s grinders the first time I had one.
It was a regular ham and cheese grinder, with the usual – mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and onions, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar. Nothing that I couldn’t have gotten from any other place – except that it was rather late in the day, and Amalfi’s Pizza was the one of the few places still open.
I have to admit, I was very curious about the (2 comments)
