7 Principles to Successful Goal Setting

Now that January is nearly over, I hope we all have had a great start on the new year, implementing our goals and resolutions.

In case you have not yet been able to start, it’s not too late!

Next week brings on a new beginning of another month. If you have not yet set some goals or dialed in on your business plan, I hope these 7 principles will help get you started:

1.     Your goals must be specific, detailed and clear. Highly defined goals are attained, fuzzy goals are forgotten.

Pros We Don't Think About: The Locksmith - 01/30/11 07:56 PM
One of my goals for 2011 is to create a master vendor list of professionals whom I will recommend to customers and clients.
Jason has an excellent point of bringing on a locksmith as one of those vendors.
Throughout the year I would like to offer specials to my clients. One trade-off idea might be to provide one "get out of jail free" card to your clients... A complimentary locksmith call.  They might use it when they lock their keys in the car or when they change locks on the house.
Maybe I could cut a deal with the locksmith to … (0 comments)

Illuminating Technology... Keeping us Bright! - 01/26/11 10:57 PM
I first heard that L.E.D. stood for “little electronic doo-dad.”  It has been amazing to see L.E.D. technology come to the forefront of everyday use in electronics and even household items!

The true definition of the L.E.D. acronym is “Light Emitting Diode.”

For Christmas, I received a package of smaller L.E.D. flashlights that simply amazed me! I have retired my larger old traditional flashlights.

I was shocked by the small size and how bright the flashlight shown! I now keep a small L.E.D. flashlight in the console of my car & use it often during these short, dark, … (7 comments)

You Read What!? - 01/25/11 11:47 PM
I should never under value the power of client testimonials!

Tonight, as usual, I asked this prospective seller where they got my name and number. They emphatically said, “From the Internet!”

I asked further to know what keywords, etc. and they couldn’t remember. They said they read some reviews and did some research and came up with me and my website.

The only reviews I can think of would be the client testimonials that I have on my site.

What if YOU didn't have to pay the Real Estate Commission!? - 01/24/11 10:01 PM
“I would have called you sooner if I knew I didn’t have to come up with the real estate commission!”

I was amazed to hear this statement from a seller who is facing foreclosure. After you think about it, it seems somewhat obvious, that’s what a seller might think when needing to sell through a short sale.

When you consider the seller has missed several mortgage payments and has limited funds to live on, where would they get any money to pay their Realtor?

Do It With Intention! - 01/14/11 11:33 PM
As I watched a few college football games this season, it occurred to me that some teams/players “play to win” while others “play not to lose.”

You might wonder what the difference is. To me, it’s an attitude of greatness!

One team/player might be so overwhelmingly confident that they are going to win the game and most often do, while another may feel somewhat intimidated and their goal is to “not lose.”

Burning of the what!? - 01/13/11 11:18 PM
I remember, as a kid, hearing about “Mortgage Burning Parties.”  Friends of my parents or members of the church would get their house paid off and celebrate by having a party and burning the paid-off note!

You don’t hear of this too much these days and I wonder how many homeowners will actually have their house paid for in their life-time.

It used to be said that real estate would double in value every 10 years. Well, in the past 4 years, it has been cut in half, in our area!

Can the lender come after you for the deficiency on your Idaho home?

As a disclaimer, I am not an attorney, but I play one on TV…

According to Idaho code, a lender who has interest in a property, secured by a deed of trust, has 3 months to file suite to claim a money judgment on the deficiency of a defaulted loan after the sale date.

This is good news to home owners who have either had their property foreclosed on or sold through other means.

2) A lead capture form that will pass leads to the RE/MAX listing agents’ LeadStreet account!

The result? More visibility for listings, and more leads for RE/MAX Associates. RE/MAX is also working with Trulia, Zillow, and Google on syndication terms for REMAX.com listings...
