What Do Women Really Want? ~ (Secrets Revealed) - 08/30/12 08:17 AM
Hey it's late summer. Some schools have started back up. I see some blogger writers complaining their phones are not ringing from their posts. Give me a break. People have other things going on besides ALWAYS buying houses, and besides be a giver and not a taker all the time. Vary the writing from time to time AWAY from real estate.
Such a light mood struck me today for those that find this post of how men in our society always cannot figure out the other half of the species, and I will compliment them as the BETTER HALF. Women keep … (32 comments)

Broker's Open Houses ~ Do They Work? - 08/29/12 02:28 PM
Many agents have written about the pros and cons of traditional Open Houses for selling real estate residential property. But what about
Broker's Open Houses ~ Do They Work?
They differ because these are for the real estate community not necessarily the public. Typically for higher end or luxury homes to get the payback from the cost of catering the food. I have attended some for networking purposes, videographer training and continuing education classes that were held in conjunction with learning about the home.
Do you think they help sell the home? … (12 comments)

The Key To Pushing Through Procrastination - 08/28/12 02:54 PM
We all have those times in our day or in our week we can't fight off the procrastination. Whether calling a client or folding the laundry, there it is ~ we'd rather do something else. If you do have to do something, I mean the laundry needs folding before Christmas...
The Key To Pushing Through Procrastination....
.....is the FIRST STEP. You know, do it NOW.... the journey of a thousand miles starts with one step.
I have found the first step whether it is calling someone, or starting to exercise for the day is sheer momentum, and a procrastinator buster. So … (7 comments)

Just P.U.S.H To Get Through Weariness - 08/28/12 09:46 AM
Sometimes you can't get past things in the time you have hoped and you need another idea to assist you in not tiring out. I found this inspirational account that I thought might help.
Just P.U.S.H. To Get Through Weariness
A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared. God told the man he had something for him to do and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin.
God explained that the man was to push against the rock with all his might...
So this the man did, day … (10 comments)

Two Reasons You Are Not Getting Referrals - 08/27/12 12:12 PM
You showed your love closing that last transaction with your clients. You DELIGHTED them YET the love is not coming back with the referrals. WHAT is wrong with the ying yang in the universe you ask yourself? Simple, it takes just a LITTLE MORE on your part....
Two Reasons You Are Not Getting Referrals
On your first referral they sense from you PERCEIVED INDIFFERENCE. You have to communicate that enthusiasm to them their friends and family need go nowhere else than with YOU to help out in real estate. If you don't keep telling them they will ASSUME it doesn't … (7 comments)

When The Hare Beats The Tortoise In The Race - 08/26/12 02:23 PM
I loved all those old children's stories and trying to apply a moral to the story to get the main point. One of my favorites was the tortoise and the hare where the tortoise won the race with his slow and steady SMART self. The main problem was that fast hare taking it for granted he could goof along the way and beat the hare any day. But with that finish line in sight he waited too long and LOST. But in business and success think

Ten Ideas On Making First Class Connections - 08/25/12 09:46 AM
We all want great connections with other people in business and in our personal lives don't we? But oftentimes we just don't, and we need to sharpen up our communication and relationship skills to achieve this.
I believe not just having CLASS with other people but yourself being FIRST CLASS with them. Shoot for the highest, don't accept the mediocre. Although I know some vulgar, uncouth, immature, unpolished, discourteous, and self absorbed people if THEY got to the class level it would be a huge improvement for them. Being first class is about your image, your talents and abilities and overall … (8 comments)

Today's Society Is A Heads Down One - 08/22/12 04:02 PM
I have noticed this for years and years with the proliferation of Smartphones, eReaders, and the tablet computers. Soon even mini tablets will be out there with smaller screens. The observation?
    Heads down of people everywhere.
I have written about DZ, the disconnect zone at the beach or SOMEWHERE you need to put your body and mind AND SOUL in during a day just briefly at least.
But the disconnect zone should apply with close human contact at a meal or conversation or just when you want to communicate WITHOUT THAT EVER PRESENT DEVICE sitting there.
You must consciously work … (30 comments)

PASSION Means It Gets Your Blood Flowing - 08/21/12 09:29 AM
They have that expression, "do work that you love and the money will follow." I don't know if I believe that or not cause I think some people would surf Facebook all day if you let them but they are not getting paid handsomely. But
PASSION Means It Gets Your Blood Flowing.
Some people work jobs for paying the bills or building up wealth but find PASSION outside what they do for a living. It is all good whether work or outside work but DO find something that gets your blood flowing. THAT is who you really are INSIDE.

Extra Mile Means YOU Stand Out - 08/20/12 01:38 PM
Want to stand out with your clients and with others in your life? It is the
Extra Mile Which Means You Stand Out.
Under promise and over deliver. Delight your customers and other people. Surprise them on the upside.
Do you know IT IS NOT crowded on the extra mile? Just the little things you do to close the loop, over communicating, getting thorough understanding between folks, building up that trust level with you, fetching not one ball from your Master, but ALL the toys in the backyard ha ha.

More Than A People Business - 08/19/12 11:25 AM
Real estate is noted pretty much by everyone as a PEOPLE business. You cannot sit back in the corner of the office and work spreadsheets and be successful in real estate with all the interactions in a week with EVERYONE you come in contact with. But I would expand on that and say it is
More Than A People Business.
It is a "relationship" business. You need to know how who is connected to whom and connected to you through networking and how strong or weak or well understood or confusing is that relationship. The BETTER you know your allies, people … (12 comments)

A T-shirt Idea For The Masses - 08/18/12 08:56 AM
In software development there is a term prior to releasing the production ready, supposedly bug free software, and this is called beta release. It made me think of
A T-shirt Idea For The Masses.
We are all Beta people, not quite ready most of our lives for prime time. What I mean by that in a group setting, imagine handing out all these Beta Person T-shirts to everyone and REMIND yourself that YOU "and" THEM are not perfect people and we are all on different points in learning with our journey.

A mobile web site is a web site asking for a URL that is optimized for the mobile platform whereas the APP is not a web site but runs directly off the mobile device.

Loving People Through Their Dark Side - 08/14/12 12:02 PM
In a prior post I put out the thought that we should all make love a priority in our lives over success as the world might see success with money, attention, worldly goods, etc. That post after I wrote it I thought was like a Part One of two parts. That was the Part One, the WHAT to do. I felt I would be remiss if I would not add Part Two which is the HOW part which I call

Make Love Your Priority - 08/13/12 08:41 AM
Sometimes I think I see the world as it should be in an ideal sense for me and for you that completely eludes others. Looking around, the vast people in the ages of their middle years, ages 20 through 70, there is so much pursuit of success and ignoring putting a stamp on your own significance and doing things in life that have meaning, rather than silliness, insignificance or hurtfulness. In life I would strongly urge you to work hard at

Waking Up This Side Of Dirt Is A Good Thing - 08/12/12 12:21 PM
Some people in their 30's, 40's, 50's or even their 60's have anxiety about getting older and the accumulating of birthdays. Birthdays are good considering the alternative and
Waking Up This Side Of Dirt Is A Good Thing.
A handful of thoughts on aging:
Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been
Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many
Everyone is the age of their heart
I have a full deck; I just shuffle slower now
Grow old with me! The best is yet to be.
Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having a … (7 comments)

Happiness Is An Ice Cream Cone - 08/11/12 12:01 PM
Somewhat in a philosophical mood with this post. With the pursuit of happiness thought I think I see too many people doing the PURSUIT part and not landing or embracing the HAPPINESS part along the way. I have a simple thought to help anyway struggling with happiness to stick in your hat,
Happiness Is An Ice Cream Cone.
What I mean by that, life inside a day is full of moments. FIND those happiness points with people, with loved ones, with pets, with nature, with play, with relaxation,
ENJOY THE MOMENT. It might be a song on the car radio, or … (18 comments)

A Playground For All Children - 08/10/12 03:41 PM
There is a line from Aesop that says, "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." With animals, children, adults this should be applied every day rather than hurting people with word or deed. With this I found
A Playground For All Children.
Currently some of these Accessible Playgrounds are available for wheelchairs in Winter Park, FL and San Antonio, TX. All kids are kids and what a great idea. I hope more of these are built all over.
Kindness pays big time with smiles.

Remember A Leopard Can't Change Its Spots - 08/10/12 09:23 AM
Some people drift through life a bit too naive at phases of their lives. With real estate negotiations and also with your relationships with people,
Remember A Leopard Can't Change Its Spots.
This old maxim means a leopard is a leopard not a zebra or a giraffe. We all are born with certain predispositions and are molded by our family and environment from birth to age ten, and it is solidified much more as a process from age ten to age 20. THEN we have our spots. It is who we are, SLOWLY if at all changing that CORE part of … (9 comments)

Remember Win-Win With Everything - 08/08/12 04:30 PM
My brokerage firm has the very common sense maxim that stated says Win-Win or NO DEAL. I say
     Remember Win-Win With Everything.
The point is with negotiation, with good relationships, WHO WANTS win lose on anything to be on the short end of the stick? Horrible feeling, horrible situation.
Working with clients with an opposing party across the table from you, in a relationship that you value as serious, remember everyone here is not perfect. You have to do some give and take, some compromise, BUT it has to be done on both sides.
Too much power, too much control, too … (11 comments)

Don't Force Fit Anything In Life - 08/07/12 03:09 PM
Back in another life I used to build missiles as an Engineer and one day this square looking electronic board that looked like all the other square looking boards I inserted it into a slot in the missile. I don't think the U.S. Air Force and Navy who were my customers at the time would have been happy to know what I did because it was the WRONG BOARD. Well it was square. I tightened the bolts real tight too but wondered why it didn't fit in the slot smoothly like it should. By the time I was done FORCING my … (13 comments)

Going Green ~ Everything Old Is New Again - 08/07/12 08:41 AM
With many REALTORS going for Green certifications and also the annual occurrence of Earth Day, it got me thinking THIS is nothing new, if anything other than trying to insulate homes better and have more efficient heating and cooling systems we have gotten AWAY from being green that we used to have years ago.

Aren't Real Estate Agents The Silliest? - 08/06/12 07:34 AM
When I first started this blogging gig part of my life back around 2007 sometime, one of my earlier posts probably with no photograph in the post discussed REALTOR business cards with outdated photos. Some, if you look around the industry can be up to 20 years old and not even LOOK like the current person.
That will throw you for a loop when you meet them after seeing their ad in the paper or online. But I have found the VAST MAJORITY of agents do carry this HUGE ego with them about self for some reason. Maybe it is the … (18 comments)

Discipline Means Doing What You Don't Want To Do - 08/05/12 10:49 AM
Are you a well trained dog? Well I know some dog obedience training schools ask that question on their radio advertisements. But I am saying
Discipline Means Doing What You Don't Want To Do.
You have to look at the greater good of where you are trying to go, that having delayed gratification, doing something HARD now so it is EASIER later is well worth it. How many areas in life have you seen discipline?

I hope you are enjoying watching some of the Olympics coverage from London if you can squeeze it in your schedule. But little moments I see show me

The Right Way To Do Comparison Between People - 08/02/12 08:37 AM
In looking around sometimes at how miserable people make themselves comparing themselves constantly to others it got me thinking of the Biblical story (Luke 18-9:14) of the Pharisee praying and the tax collector at lower steps of the temple. Some think they are so much BETTER than others, than those rest of men, unjust, extortioners, adulterers, or even a tax collector. This story more had to do about praying and a humble heart but the reality is some other people make you feel superior to them while others you will feel inferior with your own traits relative to them.
The Right … (20 comments)

If Your Goal Does Not Scare You It Is Not Big Enough - 08/01/12 03:47 PM
In looking at the last five months of this year left to accomplish an existing goal or create a new goal, and thinking of all the current Olympians this time of year trying to achieve their dreams think
If Your Goal Does Not Scare You It Is Not Big Enough.
In the corporate world they called this a "stretch goal" pushing you beyond comfortabe boundaries. It really does help us GROW a lot more when we go where we have not gone before. I am not talking a Star Trek mantra here but PUSHING yourself to see what you are made … (14 comments)
