Monday's Inspiration -- LEARN, DO, TEACH -- The Key To Mastery! - 01/21/08 10:05 AM
By Greg PerryKirkland Realtorhttp://www.425realty.com So what about formal education? You know --what we do through high school, then college. Here's what some notable people have to say about education: "We are shut up in schools and college recitation rooms for ten or fifteen years, and come out at last with a bellyful of words and do not know a thing." Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-82) U.S. essayist and poet."They say that we are better educated than our parents' generation. What they mean is that we go to school longer. They are not the same thing." Douglas Yates"[Education] consists mainly in what we have unlearned." (3 comments)
Monday's Inspiration -- Setting Goals - 01/14/08 11:59 AM
By Greg PerryKirkland Realtorwww.425realty.com January.....the month that everything starts new. The month of resolution. You know those things we want to fix about ourselves. So what is a resolution? I think a resolution is just a goal...but a weak goal. So how do we give our resolutions (goals) power? The things we like about ourselves, our families, what we do for work and recreation. We also need to look at what we don't like. I like to put my focus on (1 comments)
Friday's Did You Know? -- Josiah Merrit (Or Uncle Si) - 01/11/08 01:03 PM
Friday's Did You Know? - Josiah Merrit (or Uncle Si)By Brian PerryEastside Reatorwww.425realty.com Did you know that Mt. Si is named after a rugged man. Mt. Si in the Snoqualmie valley is named after Josiah Merrit aka Uncle Si. Want rugged? Uncle Si built a cabin at the base of the peak in 1862 by hauling the materials on his back. Not only that, but local historians tell the tale of Uncle Si trading bacon to the larger settlements around the area. In order for him to do this, he would strap the bacon to his back, climb down the 268' (0 comments)

The Relationship Between Interest Rates and Affordability - 01/05/08 02:40 PM
By Greg PerryKirkland Realtorwww.425realty.com Mortgage interest rates are hovering at about their lowest levels for the year. There are many forces at work in our current economy. Weak dollar, high oil, inflation? recession?, liquidity crises. Yet for right now mortgage interest rates are hovering right at 6%. Did you know the how mortgage interest rates affect affordability in a house purchase? Basically the Affordability index goes like this:Every 1% increase in mortgage interest rates equals a 10% decrease in purchasing power. Here's how that math plays out for a 30 year amortized loan (Per 1,000 borrowed): A 6% Rate equals a monthly principal and interest (5 comments)
Friday's Did You Know? Isquowh... - 01/05/08 02:36 PM
Did you know that Issaquah hasn't always been Issaquah. Issaquah is actually a corruption of the correct name "isquow, " which means "sound of water birds"...So I suppose Issaquah means "used to sound like birds but now sounds like development"? Issaquah also went by another name "Gilman" from 1892-1899. (0 comments)
Did you know? Snoqualmie is our pronunciation of the Salish work "Sdob-dwahibbluh". The word means Moon. The Snoqualmie valley is a spiritual place and gave birth to many Native American legends. One legend is of the beaver, who climbed into the sky and to the moon so he could to bring trees to earth for building his home, and fire to keep him warm. (0 comments)
