Once again, the much awaited Air Show at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois featuring the United States Air Force Thunderbirds is coming this weekend, September 15 & 16, 2012.
I could hear them flying over and rehearsing for the show. It's also an annual open house offered by Scott AFB to welcome neighbors near and far to see US Air Force airpower at work. Sequel: Easy to Make Spring Orchid Arrangement
I love orchids and flowers. Cut flowers in a vase in an open house adds warmth and smiles to guests when they enter the property. But it can be expensive if you don't have a flower garden you can harvest cuttings from.
So, I made these arrangements that I use for my open houses, or for staging purposes. They are very simple, foolproof, and inexpensive. They don't need tending, watering, and can be used repeatedly. If you're inclined to try, I posted the process here: Easy to Make Spring Orchid Arrangement.

With pride, but sad hearts O'Fallon will welcome back Airman 1st Class Zachary Ryan Cuddeback tonight in a funeral procession. He, along with Senior Airman Nicholas J. Alden of South Carolina were killed in the line of duty in Frankfurt, Germany on March 2.
Zac was born at Scott Air Force Base in July 1989 and moved out of the area when he was 14 years old. He was an "Army brat" and joined the United States Air Force in 2009. He was assigned to 86th Vehicle Readiness Squadron in March 2010 after graduating from basic training.

Foreclosure Help in IL
Last week, IL Governor Quinn signed a bill providing much needed assistance for homeowners facing foreclosure. This bill, Public Act 95-1047 requires lenders to allow a grace period (up to 90 days) to homeowners who are in arrears. Furthermore, homeowners will have a chance to work with any Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved housing counselors to work out a solution to their situation.
