mortage: HOMEOWNERS, Are your taxes and insurance up to date? - 09/19/11 04:04 PM

Even though your mortgage servicer is responsible for paying your taxes and insurance out of your escrow account, it just makes sense to periodically check to see that these payments are being made properly. Remember this is an ESCROW account established to pay your taxes and insurance and assure that the mortgage company will not lose their collateral for the loan because the taxes or insurance were not paid.  You chose the insurance company and can change companies if you provide proof to the mortgage company that you have insurance and that it meets the lenders requirements for sufficient coverage.

mortage: Warren Buffett: I love you! - 08/12/11 04:09 PM

Warren Buffett has the best attitude and belief in a forward idealism.  He has been buying amid all the sharp declines in the market and still does not see anything that suggests another downturn is emerging, and he is a legendary investor.  Perhaps he has the theory that promoting negativity is a self predicting prophecy.

Buffet told a magazine that he understood why Standard & Poor’s lowered its outlook on the credit rating of his conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway, but said he disagreed with the premise-“the downgrade of the United States credit rating.....”  If we have never … (3 comments)

mortage: Mortgage payments how they work! - 03/09/11 02:47 PM
Mortgage payments - How they work
When escrow is used, a monthly mortgage payment is called a PITI payment. That's because each one covers a portion of the following four costs:
Principal -- the loan balance
Interest -- interest owed on that balance
Real estate Taxes -- taxes assessed by different government agencies to pay for school construction, fire department service, etc.
Property Insurance -- insurance coverage against theft, fire, hurricanes and other disasters
