No more free parking in Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, Va. - 08/31/10 09:33 AM
Beginning on September 1, 2010 there will be no more free evening and weekend parking in the garage at 3033 Wilson Blvd. The Arlington County Department of Human Services had a lease there and as part of their occupancy had negotiated the free evenings and weekends deal. They have now moved to a new location and there is no more free lunch. :-(
This will add to the congestion in the nearby neighborhoods as folks look for a free place to park. My understanding is that Colonial parking will be managing the existing garage. I don't know what the fees will … (0 comments)

Arlington, Va. Recycles-news from your Green Realtor - 08/22/10 07:12 AM
This morning I was watching a program on Arlington (channel 25 Comcast) and there was a segment on recycling here in Arlington. If you live in Arlington you no longer have to seperate all of your recyclables, and we are recycling more materials then ever.
On the program they showed how it's done. 95% of the separation is one by machine. They use blowers and magnets and other methods to seperate the materials. The other 5% is done by hand. Recycled material goes to China and all over the US. It's used for clothing, furniture, and new glass and plastic containers. … (4 comments)

Arlington, Va. county real estate tax assessment-July 2010 - 08/04/10 10:05 AM
As of July 1, 2010 real estate taxes in Arlington County Virginia will be .958 per $100.00 of assessment. The new rate includes the stormwater tax. The rate reflects an increase of 8.3 cents per $100.00. It is still the lowest rate in the area. The city of Alexandria is next at .978 per $100.00. Fairfax comes in at $1.105.
Budget accordingly.
