For those who have a hard time visualizing paint colors... - 07/26/11 08:15 AM
I saw this tool and love it. I am one of those folks that cannot use paint chips to visualize. I'm not sure how anyone can but they do seem to manage. My next step was to buy those big sheets of colored paper to tape on the wall....still doesn't work for me. I've even bought small samples, tried it, then when I painted the whole room, did not like the color.
This tool lets you upload a photo of your room and change the colors. Of course it won't account for the lighting different times of the day but still, … (3 comments)

Eyesore or Art? The great Mermaid debate in Arlington, Va. - 07/26/11 07:38 AM
Once upon a time one of our local residents had a dying White Ash in his front yard. He says that his wife asked him to carve a mermaid out of the tree and preserve it and ...so he did. That was in 2004. The mermaid house happens to be on a busy street that traverses the northern part of Arlington, Va (Lee Hwy) and is actively used by commuters heading to and from DC. Many folks seem to think it's a hazard and distraction....not to mention downright lewd (she is a buxom being indeed). Others seem to think of it … (3 comments)

Arlington, Va continues to see improvement in home prices as well as days on market. Year over year total sales is still down. Is this a result of a still recovering real estate market or a lack of inventory? What do you think?

Falls Church City Farmers market - 07/17/11 10:20 AM
I love fresh produce. Since the chipmunks and squirrels have decimated my tomato crop (I guess they gotta eat too), I make regular trips to the local farmers markets. I try to visit a variety of markets since we have so many and there are different vendors at each. Falls Church City is just over the line from Arlington and shares the same sense of community that we find here. There are great restaurants, entertainment centers and shopping here. If you've got an active dog, chances are at some point they will have a run in with a skunk who is not amused by their inquisitive nature. I've had a couple of friends with this stinky problem recently so I did a little research and came across this recipe from a respected Vet.
